Stopped here after a long walk on the Grand Union Canal. Very nice pub inside, with a cosy atmosphere. We had a coffee first thing then came back for wine at the end of the day. Wine selection is good and fairly priced. Didn't have food but it looked good from what others were having. Was a bit cold inside when we were there and toilets need a bit more of a clean. Open for breakfast on the weekend and very dog friendly.

Cam here tonight with 8 friends and the food for a pub was absolutely delicious! Fresh and presentation was of a high quality restaurant...little hidden gem here and will surely be back..

Nice chilled pub next to the canal, staff do well considering they are all very young! Had a load of starters delivered to a bar side table and was very happy. Been back several times since for drinks. Think they used to have a fire which was nice but couldn’t see it now Nice for a quiet drink

This is our favourite pub in England! Lovely space and atmosphere, food and drinks are amazing and people super friendly. They are also dog friendly which is really helpful for us. I super recommend them!

Beautiful Pub. Wonderful staff. Gorgeous Sunday roast, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Unlimited gravy. Heavenly dessert. The staff can not do enough for you and are very attentive even though its busy.

Fantastic menu, would be great if they added more vegan options for my vegan friends. Their Sunday roast was very good and the portions were generous. The staff is helpful and friendly, highly recommend this place.

I had a lovely evening with my friend. The food, service and atmosphere were lovely. We had the calamari for starters & the seabass for main and both dishes were amazing. Would definitely recommend πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

A good sized pub next to the canal, friendly staff. Fantastic sweet potato fries. I would book a table and check when serving food as they don’t always serve food outside. Went here twice, first time was okay, the second time was better and we tried a third (those sweet potato fries), but we were told we couldn’t have food outside and we had our bikes so had to move on. Really does have a nice outdoor area along the canal. Would love to see a few more veggie options.

Average place. Went here with my friends and expected a better environment as from the photos it looked good but in real there’s a bad scent coming from the lake right next to it. Sat down to have food and got to know that they would serve food after 2hrs from the time I came as they had only 1 chief! Expected better from Malt Shovel as me and my friends walked for 30mts to get there.

Second time here, honestly amazing food and polite staff but both times I've been it takes so long to get the food out. Both times I've been (once in the afternoon for lunch, one in the evening for dinner) we had to chase up the drinks after waiting for 30 minutes, food usually arrived after 40 minutes.

Absolutely lovely pub. Staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a big group of us and everyone said their food was amazing. The desserts were to die for. Thank you Dan and his amazing team for a lovely evening.

The eating experience was highly mixed. Hubby had prawn cocktail and it's great. I ordered salad with extra sea bass. The salad is nice but not the sea bass. I expect sea bass flesh to be light, delicate and succulent, not an oily fried ridget mass as in the photos. I didn't eat it and won't order it there again. If anyone likes fried sea bass in that way, that's the place to go. I wish I just ordered the salad without paying extra for the sea bass.

Strongly recommend.. Very attentive people working their.. Really get the feel that going to work is a fantastic thing. The atmosphere is like a family get together. Food was perfect and service was too. Along with all of this you have a beautiful location.. Your sat on the side of the canal, which supplies lots to look at.. I will be going back ...

Booked family meal here, was very friendly, quick service. Food was hot, fresh and brilliantly cooked. Plenty of parking and allowing dogs on the premises was a bonus.

We've have often driven 🚘 past and meant to drop in for a bite to eat and drink 🍽🍹outside. Today was lovely and sunny 🌞 so this time we did, and I'm so glad we did. It's not just the food that makes a good pub. It's also the staffπŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ. Kyle πŸ§‘β€βš•οΈ looked after us and the banter was FOC πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ Was re-assuring to see the team took Covid seriously. I didn't see one member of staff with their mask 😷 hanging down below their nose, like a lot of places do. We decided to have something different for dessert, so we both had the Chocolate Flower pot. It was delicious πŸ˜‹ We will definitely be visiting again soon.

We came specifically for a roast dinner we both had beef. We ordered at the bar not table service - not sure if this was normal. We were told due to staff shortages there would be delay but actually came within 15 min so no issue. There was signs that due to shortages they hadn’t opened for brunch that day. We came 12:30 no reservation and place was deserted so no issue without reservation for us. Overall food was good, portion size was good variety and flavour good. Everything was just fine however not excellent not amazing. Food was warm, potatoes needed to be crispier (for us) was nice to have sharing veg and option for more gravy to make it hotter ! Could have had some stuffing too or more side options. Cranberry sauce was asked for and super cold and small portion. For a roast dinner it didn’t win especially for the price just stick to Toby. But it’s a nice pub for a drink and canal view. You have to log your parking at the bar. Menu for food drink and puddings is vast with good variety.

Don't know what happened here but years ago we used to frequent this place quite often. Treated our grandson to a meal out, looked as if we were the only ones in there but still had a long wait. When the food arrived kids meal beans were stone cold, and just FIVE chips!!!. Mushy peas on my meal cold, dessert was horrendous my sticky toffee pudding and custard was stone cold and child's chocolate brownie and ice cream on a plate you could hardly see it all garnished with a sprig of mint ????. Male toilet seat completely broken, ladies toile door absolutely filthy. The worst Β£52.00 I have EVER spent. NEVER AGAIN

Awesome and cosy country pub in Cowley, located between Yiewsley and Uxbridge, along the Grand Union Canal. We've been coming at The Malt Shover since long time. It's always our magic place in the area, in every season, from winter time with fireplace and warm inner ambience, to the Summer time with super spacious outside garden and tables along the Canal. Very spacious private car parking which requires a very quick car plate registration on a tablet once there. Simply tht best! Highly recommended local country pub and very good value for money.

So called Staff Christmas dinner was a shambles!! The chef definitely checked out by 1pm Dissapointed isn't even on the menu. Hosting staff weren't even bothered. Not to mention everybody was complaining as we arrived. Should have known better. I couldn't even post the pictures because we were totally shocked by the plates delivered. Personally, I have been here on many occasions over the last 14 years and never had that experience. It's time to get a new chef and staff!!

Came here after experiencing terrible service in another river pub.. Wow all the staff were fantastic! We ordered two roasts and the server got us extra gravy and a selection of other condiments with a big smile on their face. The food was good - I had the trio of meats and would recommend the pork or turkey as the softest. Vibe was cosy village pub and pretty full. Would come back again.

Visiting the area and this pub TWICE! Our server, Reece was a wonderful ambassador for the Malt Shovel and the area. Kudos to Amy too, who put me on to cars 24/7! The pub is warm friendly and we’ll be back!

Really lovely pub, both in the winter and summer. Food is usually great, and the service too! The only negative is that the pub is a bit neglected by its operators Vintage Inns. Lots of poor maintenance housekeeping, with lights hanging out of the ceiling and toilets in desperate need of some TLC. Cleanliness isn’t great either. But all that aside it’s still some of our faves!
