We added the Safari to our trip at the last minute through Fallu (our guide), who set everything up while we were on the way. What a great experience. We had an elder in our group so we were not prepared for anything to exciting. Bandia offers just enough variety of wildlife to give you the sense of excitement without the fear. Our merry little band had two groups with two translators speaking English & Italian. They were both great!

Very cool experience, even though it is probably hard to classify as a real safari. You get driven around in a car, where it is easy to see the wildlife and take good pictures. The guide was helpful and spoke English and French perfectly, and allowed for photo stops during the tour.

This is a great place to visit. The guides are well knowledgeable about the animals and area. The highlight for me was seeing the human remains in the baobab tree. The history of culture on how they came to be there is fascinating. After the trip around to look at the animals we went back to the restaurant where I enjoyed a Kudu burger and I must admit it was amazing.

Excellent space and atmosphere, and great food. Tour of the park was excellent with a friendly guide and fantastic view of the animals. Had a great time. You can sit and eat metres from a crocodile and herons, then go on a tour within touching distance of giraffes, rhinos, buffalo... It was a unique experience. My photos show some of my experience but I think each visit would be it's own world. It's a fantastic place!

Very cool safari about 90 mins from Dakar. Prices were affordable and you can go with or without a guide. Various animals include hyenas, zebras, giraffes ..also a restaurant on the grounds

I experienced awe-inspiring animal sightings in a savanna sprinkled with acacia and ancient baobab trees. The splendor of it all tugged my heartstrings. The terrain is filled with masterpiece settings! It struck me as very beautiful! Groups of animals such as zebras, giraffes, antelopes, impalas, and baboons, plus the occasional rhino or warthog, all lounge freely nearby the truck paths, providing visitors considerable photo-taking opportunities. Birds such as ostriches and guinea fowl range freely as well. Birds that fly can be heard singing everywhere, but it takes a sharp eye to spot them quick enough for pictures. Near the entrance area there are fenced areas where giant tortoises and hyenas are situated, and in another area - all to themselves! you can see 80 crocodiles in a habitat all their own.

This reserve was great, our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the animals. But there are no predatory animals, so if you're looking for lions, and cheetahs and other such animals this isn't the place for that.

A must see for visitors in Senegal, just 30 min from Dakar. A mini safari in a nice environment. You will see most of the animals, although rhinos are often well hidden. And I strongly recommend the eland ribs at the restaurant, the best meat I had for a very long time.

  • 5/5 Beach K. 2 years ago on Google
Highly recommend! Very personalized tour. Entrance prices are odd because you have to add on for a guide and a vehicle, there's no way you could walk the whole thing, it's too big. Still the price was extremely good with all that. Pope was our guide. He was very thorough, informative, educational with both the Safari animals and nature history as well as commentary about Senegal history in general. We were surprised to learn there are no Lions there. But the tour was just as good without them. All the other animals are hanging out right on the main path. Never a dull moment. Pretty amazing to be within 5 to 15 ft of these beautiful creatures. They seem very happy and peaceful and content. Nothing in cages. Be sure to visit the very unique gift shop or have a beverage or meal at the restaurant. Watch the monkeys there, shy at first they will go for your bags though! We will definitely return!

Good to know: if you go there by your own car or with a driver, you always need a guide to drive inside the reserve. If there is no place for a guide in your car you must rent a car of the reserve, driver included in the price. On busy days, for what reason ever, you might wait for 2 or 3 hours to rent an available car. Most of tourists come before noon.

Great place to see non predator animals wandering freely in the reserve, got so close to many animals and the guides are very informative even pointing out all the birds, added bonus is the crocodiles at the end

Can’t give less than four stars for a natural preserve. The flora and animals were beautiful. You really can’t use your own vehicle unless it’s a serious 4x4 and we had trouble finding people to split a truck with so it cost over 100$ for the two hour outing. Food over priced for the area but good fresh BBQ. I am a birder and found driving frustrating bc I missed lots of interesting birds because they weren’t major mammals and I felt the guides weren’t so informative

Nice place and Safari, prices are ok for what you get. The "guide" seemed a bit uninterested/motivated. The tour in the car was about an hour and you see all the animals they have there. Go and visit the restaurant with the crocodile farm and sneaky monkeys.

  • 5/5 Naomi C. 1 month ago on Google • 33 reviews New
Well organised and looked after reserve. Very relaxed, no chasing of animals and the driver was very good at stopping for good photo opportunities. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the animals and the reserves history. 40,000 for a jeep and 18,500 per adult.

This is a cool place to visit. There are many animals to see. Monkeys, birds, and monitor lizards roam freely. There is a crocodile lake, lions, and hyenas... There is a very large outdoor restaurant. There are playgrounds for children, as well as petanque

This is a must do, you will never experience anything so close and personal. Amazing sights animals and people 10/10

  • 5/5 Magnus O. 5 years ago on Google
You can see a lot of animals here without them having to live in cages (though remember that many of these animals are not native to West Africa). You can take your own car (which must have a place for the compulsory guide), but you will probably get a better view of you use one of the park's vehicles. As the smallest one has 11 seats, and costs CFA 40,000, it's good to see if you can share it with other visitors). This place is close to the Baobab climbing experience, so you can combine a visit to both places.

  • 4/5 Raymond Valiant R. 1 year ago on Google
The best time to visit is before noon. Distinctive Senegalese animals like the black masked antelope and the stripped hyena can be found in this resort. Other animals were introduced from other places, like the giraffe and the wide lip rhinocheros. The resort main attraction are the baobab trees, endemic species of the region. Cleanliness is average and the food quality is standard.

  • 5/5 Trey C. 8 months ago on Google
Excellent time! Lots of animals loose in the several hundred acres reserve. No lions here,no elephants,no big cats at all. There's lions across the street but didn't go there. Just so you know what to expect. Still an excellent, must see place! Lots of amazing animals living with minimal human Intervention it seems. Very informative tour guide. They have a baobab tree that is the tomb of the griots, who were people that knew history way back, generations, and their job was to know and pass along this knowledge to a new griot. This baobab was once the place griots were buried, under the hollow of the tree. Amazing place! Definitely worth seeing!

pretty decent place for visiting, mostly herbivores, for the local guide you can have a good experience if you are lucky to meet one that is passionate and funny otherwise it's a bit boring. Kids and family are recommended however haggle a bit for pricing with groups they are accommodating and can give discounts when asked nicely.

What a nice mini safari! I was not expecting to see so many different animals in such a short amount of time. The restaurant is good, a bit pricey, but you pay for the view.

  • 3/5 Amanda P. 1 year ago on Google
I went with a tour guide which was way more than it's worth. The Bandia Reserve was ok. Not a lot of animals to see as on other reserves. I am disappointed the park did not have a package deal to include the lion park across the street or the reptile aquarium inside the reserve. It's a nickel and dime type of operation. It's not safari title worthy, but still something to do with the kids.

  • 5/5 Ricardo S. 1 year ago on Google

  • 4/5 Jessica C. 6 months ago on Google
It’s really fun! You will see lots of animals. The only big downside is that there isn’t a lot of clarity - had a hard time figuring out how much things cost, etc. This may have been because we came outside of tourist season.

(Translated by Google) Interesting nature reserve, beautiful flora (baobabs, acacias, etc ...), good attempt to reintroduce animal species that in the past were present in the area (you can see: zebras, giraffes, warthogs, buffaloes ... but also rhinos , hyenas etc ...). Bird watching is also good (many multicolored birds). You arrive in the visitor center and after buying the ticket (perhaps a little expensive compared to the Senegalese average) you get on a 4 × 4 with a guide from the reserve who, in addition to explanations, knows where to find the animals. Overall a positive experience.

It's a very nice Safari park, where animals are set free. You literally walk and encounter all types of animals from squirrels to rhinos (don't get too close lol). It's mainly divided in two sites. One for exploration in 4x4 and discovery, and another which is more luxurious and has a ranch filled with an amazing swimming pool and private lodge if you ever want to stay the night and wake up around giraffes 🦒. The place is kid friendly, has suitable amenities and is protected by rangers all time. The food is top-notch. You should try their Pizza 🍕 (wood-fired). You won't be disappointed !

Most animals are brought in from other parts of the continent so it’s not really a reserve but an animal park. They have a couple of rhinos, giraffes, monkeys are everywhere, warthogs, a few zebras, ostrich’s, antelope, water buffalo, birds are cool, And hyenas in a pen. But don’t expect the same type of safari experience as found in south and east Africa.
