A very informative museum about the history of hat making. I wish that more of the captions were available in English and that there were hats in sale. The exhibition is well looked after, and visitors can get up close to the exhibits, which is very cool. My only disappointment was that a town that is so famous for its hats, there was very little evidence of the importance of the industry on the streets, at the cafes or in the shops. There is no evidence of the importance of the hat industry and even buying a hat in the town is not as easy as we expected.

(Translated by Google) The remarkable Hat Museum, which puts the City far ahead with regard to hat making, is with great pride that the Sanjoanenses see themselves in this unique trade in Portugal, giving the City the importance it so deserves.

(Translated by Google) With such a vast history, the museum itself leaves something to be desired with the little information it offers visitors about the world size of the factory.

(Translated by Google) Installed in the old factory, it gives us a sample of what was the headwear industry in the last century. In addition to the historical perspective it houses a permanent collection of machinery and other utensils used in the manufacture of hats. To highlight a space dedicated to an estate of Miss Knott, secretary of Calouste Gulbenkian, with many hats and shoes used in the many receptions in which he was present. As a temporary exhibition presents a collection of models of hats designed by Araceli Sancho. Visits are free on Sunday mornings. Not to be missed!

(Translated by Google) Very interesting museum representative of one of the most important industries in both the region and the country, however having a "public office" opening creates a barrier in visits, the service is almost please with very little availability to give information. A very interesting video with the hat making process is shown on a very low quality screen and very small, besides the discomfort for those who want to see. It was funny when I wanted to see the temporary exhibit locked up and everything in the dark had to go open the room. It is worth the desire to keep this memory alive.

(Translated by Google) An iconic museum of the city of São João da Madeira. It shows all the machines and accessories that are still used today to make hats. It is indeed a very special industry and it is unfortunate that it is not a fashion to wear all hats. The location is very good and the price very affordable. Congratulations!
