If you want to support local, family-owned, small and independent business (rather than the big, foreign-owned ones), make sure to visit this Porto maker. Because of their size, they do not compete with the big brands on the first line of the river boulvar - but, man, it's so worth to step into a narrow alley for a visit in their shop. They offer a small tour, very informative, followed by a nicely structured tasting. And the porto is just exquisite. Also, you can buy their port only in their shop, not in shops or the airport - make sure to use this opportunity, also for travel-sized packages.

Having visited other more popular cellars such as Calem, I am very glad we opted for this smaller family owned business. One of the less than 3% Porto cellars that are 100% Portuguese owned, this cellar only produces around 40 thousand bottles a year, which is roughly the same amount the bigger cellars produce a day. The tour was incredibly less crowded than the others, and the tour guide’s (thank you Sonia!) explanations were crisp clear, very good English, and knew all the responses to our multiple questions. Furthermore, price wise it is unbeatable. You pay €5 per person for the booking, and then €10 in cash upon arrival which you can then use as a discount per product you use. Important note here, to avoid confusion, if there is 2 of you, you cannot get the €20 discount on a single product. The discount is applied only once per product. So you would need to buy at least 2 products to get the €20. Also, additional wine tastings do not count as a product, but the tasting is for free if you end up buying the bottle. For that reason, I would recommend trying one of the more vintage or premium Porto’s. We tried the 40 year old white and red. Totally worth the price, if you don’t want to splash out on a whole bottle of that level. Overall an incredible experience, very personal one as well, and amazing value. I would recommend it to family and friends but not to everyone else so that it does not get overcrowded for the next time I come ;)

A friend of ours who is from Porto told us to visit the Augusto's winery. We did and we are so happy that we found this little familiar business. The Porto tasting and tour from Sonia was delightful and very interesting. We bought a few bottles of Portwine and we asked to ship the bottles. I took just a few days. I would recommend "Porto Augusto's" because we also want to support small local businesses. ❤️❤️❤️

We had an excellent time at Porto Augusto's. The tour was excellent, we learnt more about port wine, wine and the entire process of making them and aging them in just an hour. Tried 8 different wines. We loved the 40 year old white port and took a bottle with us to Paris and enjoyed it in the garden overlooking the Eiffel Tower. If you're in Porto and looking for the best port wine, come to Augusto's.

The English tour was very informative and the port was exquisite. Well worth the money, which is also partially refunded if you buy a bottle of their port. We ended up buying 4 bottles as we enjoyed it so much. Feels great to support a small family business.

Nice and short wine tasting experience! They are a family winery. We did the cellar tour plus wine tasting that was of 15 euros. The tour/explanation was approx 15-20 minutes and tasting of three port wines. Overall it took about an hour. If you buy a wine, you can avail a 10 euro discount on the price. The guide was kind and kept the explanation short and precise which is easy to understand for everyone. One suggestion:For the tour, you can only pay in cash, this should have been mentioned on the online booking confirmation email, so we would have come prepared with cash. Although the ATM was also nearbuy, so not a big issue.

Very informative 20 minute tour. People are lovely and the tasting is delicious. Nice that this is a small, locally owned business. And you can discount your tour and any additional tasters if you buy. Recommended

We did a tour of the cellars and it was fantastic. We chose this cellar as it had great reviews. There are many other wine cellars in the area and longer tours but this is the only independent and family owned one. You could tell the love the family has for their business during the presentation and there was a lot of information given a short space of time. The tour also includes a tasting of three ports and your entry fee can be used to get a discount if you wish to purchase anything. Highly recommend, even for those who don’t drink.

Very nice tour, family owned business (about 15min long tour which is totally enough)+ 4 glasses Port wine tastings only 5€/person. So cheap and reasonable. You get a little taste but that’s perfect as the port wines are full bodied anyway and you couldn’t finish full glass. Really enjoyed everything. Thank you! Recommend!

I had an amazing afternoon at this dog-friendly winery. They offer a great selection of port wines, and the tour was perfect, conducted in excellent English. The service was top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. What's more, they offer a discount for those who wish to purchase their port wine after the tour. The port wine itself was outstanding, making it an irresistible offer. This winery is highly recommended for all port wine lovers. It's a perfect blend of great port wine, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for having us!

Last year I went on my first porto tour/tasting here and I have been trying out different porto brands ever since. Augustos porto has always been my favourite and today I had another tour with a tasting. Our guide Taigo was very friendly and knowledgeable. We tried pretty much all they have to offer and everything was great. I would recommend at least trying their 10/20 year old reds and their 40 year old red and/or white.

Lovely little family owned place which seems very authentic and relaxed. Really good guided tour with really nice guide who could answer the many questions. Cash payment when booking guidtour, but €15 per trip with tasting and a €10 discount when buying afterwards. Warm recommendation, very interesting information about port.

We did de English tour. It is 20 min long and the guide was very professional and explained the process of wine making, of course it was a short and resumed explanation. After that we tried different wines. They were very nice! Some more sweet then others but it is a good thing to try. If is a part of the culture here, so I recommend to do it.

Yesterday, I took a tour at the winery with a couple of friends. We had such a great time there. The staff was wonderful and Alcina, our tour guide was awesome! She shared her knowledge of Porto wines with us. We also had a few tastings which were delightful 😊 I strongly recommend anyone visiting Porto to take a tasting tour at Augusto's winery 😊

Nice place to learn about the process of making , the types of, and tasting some port wines. I appreciate the variety and complexity of port wine a lot more. Was never a big fan of port wine , but now appreciated if more and can see my self sipping it once in a while after or before a meal and using it in some cooking.

I believe our guide’s name was Sonia and she was incredible and very accommodating to us. We tried many delicious Ports while also getting the history of the business and a lot of info on just the types of ports and aging processes. Go here if you’re in Porto, you will not regret it!

A lovely place to learn about port wine and taste it! Tiago was a very knowledgeable guide and answered all of our questions with a smile. The wine was fantastic, we ended up buying several bottles.

One of few winery still 100% in Portuguese hands. If you don’t know anything about the port -like myself - this is the perfect trip for you. In 45 minutes you get the basic information about the kinds and process of making port. You leave with the useful knowledge about the drink and you taste three kinds of them. Also the tour guide was very friendly and speaking perfect English.

If you are looking for a vinery to do a tour and tasting at you should come here! It is a small family owned business with a very friendly atmosphere. We arrived shortly before closing and got to enjoy a private tour by Tiago. He explained everything in very good English, took his time and was more than happy to answer all of our questions. The wines tasted great and we were happy to buy some bottles to enjoy at home! Definitely worth the 10€ tour fee even if you decide not to buy anything.

Small family place to learn about and try delicious wine. It's charm and not crowded: made a booking for 2 persons and we had our privet excursion! Alcina, who was our guide, is a part of Augusto family and knows everything about wine. Strongly recommended!
