Not been here for years. All beautiful kept gardens. Plenty of walking to be done around the estate. Lots of seats about for people to sit on & if you're not very mobile you can hire a motor scooter. There's some gorgeous views from the tops through the woodland walks. The abbeys ruins are very well in tact. Continue on through to Studley Royal Deer Park. We managed to see some. St Mary's Church is worth visiting too. It opens at 1pm.The water gardens are lovely too. There's plenty of picnic areas & toilets. By the visitor centre there is a restaurant. There's a cafe too in the grounds. We were lucky enough to visit with a free National Trust Pass😉👍

Absolutely beautiful place. Bit pricey, but if you visit on a nice day and stay for a picnic it's worth the money. There is so much more to see than the Abbey. The park is huge and the further you get into it the prettier it seems to get. There is wild deer at the far end. Dog friendly too, which is always a bonus for us.

A wonderful day out. Would highly recommend. We had a lovely day here, the gardens are huge and accept dogs. There’s so much to look at it’s actually hard to do in one trip. We also had lunch in the cafe, it offered many options with good, quick and friendly service.

First visit back here for quite a while and is as beautiful as I remember. The Abbey is amazing and evokes thoughts of what it must have been like in its day... very spectacular. The water garden too is a lovely walk. The lakes were a little clouded over with algae and weed probably due to all the hot weather this year but nevertheless it still looks great. Lots of walks with lots to see and do... a must National Trust place to visit.

Incredible place. Steeped in history. There is plenty of parking, reception is efficient. Non National trust members costs £17 (I think). The ground are incredible and extensive you can walk around and through the ruined Abbey. Some of the stone vaulted ceilings are intact and you can walk through, feeling the history. There is one area you can walk on the floor above the vaulted ceilings. The remains of the huge arched windows give a clue to the original magnificence. The drying room is intact and still has the 5 storey chimney. Walking the grounds there are many buildings and follies. The Water gardens are stunning and there are several cafes for a cold/hot drink and snack. This is an excellent day out for the whole family.

Really enjoyed our visit here. The ruins are terrific but the addition of the beautiful gardens made for a wonderful afternoon even if some of it was in the rain.

Fantastic place to visit especially when the weather is nice. Beautiful grounds and incredible Abbey. Price is a little steep for a one off visit, but I imagine the vast majority of people will be accessing with an annual National Trust or English Heritage pass (both are accepted here).

Loved it. Free parking - one price just for entrance which was great, electric charging points great to see. Fantastic location, amazing grounds, plenty of walking, all nicely mapped, nice shop, toilets, cafés. We visited whilst on holiday and had a great time walking our dogs around the grounds, were treated to a free guide by David, which happen twice a day I believe. Added so much more info to our experience. Thoroughly recommend!

We went in First week of September and weather was perfect. It has nice long walk if you park near information centre. Try to park near Abbey car park then it will be easy and short cut. If you are national trust member then you can save £42 for family of 4. Otherwise £17 for adult and £12 for children for entry. There are children play area. 2 cafes. Many places to explore

Wow, what an atmospheric place. A beautiful site, that you couls spend hours walking around. Absolutely beautiful site. It's an amazing ruin. The replica in the Porters lodge is worth looking at too. Very helpful lady in the gate. Very helpful. We used the minibus (driven by the lovely Gina) to get around from the disabled parking at the West gate, up to the visitor centre, and then back later. We managed to get the wheelchair down to the abbey ruins and look around. They have mobility scooters for hire from this site too. Parking was free with a blue badge. Great cafe, very reasonable prices. Lovely shop. We had a fabulous day. Definitely recommend visiting here.

It was absolutely beautiful!! It was misting a bit when we arrived but, it just made everything look a bit spooky we weren’t too bothered. As it cost £18 per person we decided to just join The National Trust for £120 for the year for both of us with no issues. It was an effortless process that allows us access to many site and parking areas for 365 days. We enjoyed the trails, nature, and all the pheasants around the grounds. The abbey is truly magnificent and worth visiting. We will have to come back in the summer when the weather is nicer. The abbey looked beautiful with the autumn leaves and the misty rain so, we feel like it was worth the visit!!

What an incredible national trust site that's stunning to visit in both the summer and winter. We recently went to see the Christmas lights and it was quite the experience. There is a bit of a walk to get to the ruins , but the grounds are easy to navigate and you're hard pressed to find any area that's blocked off, so it's great to explore. I also loved visiting the porter house and the mill to learn more about the history of Fountains. Definitely not an experience that you should pass up!

The grounds and ruins were great to go see and worth the visit. The architecture on the abbey was amazing, around some amazing grounds. The bird hide was good chance to see lots of different birds. Highly recommend visiting.

Initially thought to be a bit pricey for entry. However, you can easily spend several hours at the Abbey and the surrounding area. The size is immense. The ruins are spectacular. Staff are welcoming. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the Dales.

Absolutely loved our visit here, interesting and beautiful scenery. Lots to see; Abbey, Manor House, deer Park, beautiful gardens, forest walk and river and lakes.. Alittle hilly for those not so good on your feet.

How have I lived in the UK all my life and never been here? We came on a Sunday and arrived about half an hour after opening - get here early as it does get really busy. There is so much to see here - the abbey ruins, the deer park, water gardens and plenty of toilets and a cafe if you need it. There were plenty of people making the most of the lovely weather and having a picnic. There is plenty of parking - which is free. We parked near the visitors centre - which is central to everything.

Lovley place to visit on a nice English summer day but make sure you bring a brolly if it's a typical English summer day. Footpaths are great around the Abbey and the gardens are very nice.

This place is amazing, very beautiful, you can easily spend all day here. We did the 7 bridges walk also which was a nice additional. There is a lovely cafe and gift/ homeware shop in the grounds.

Absolutely stunning place to visit and very fascinating. Visited the Abbey a few days ago with my mother and spent the entire afternoon strolling around the grounds. It isn't just the Abbey, there's Fountains Hall and lots of other little areas to visit. Gorgeous views and very photogenic. Loved it. You don't have to go to everything either, once you've had enough it's easy to cut it short and head back to the car which was perfect for us.

Beautiful day, we visit here several times a year, we’re members and we always enjoy our walks. It was lovely today to mooch about in the winter sunshine. Clocked up 10 miles in 4 hours. Some feedback on the quality of the coffees … purchased lattes from the Studley tearoom …. Total rip-off, at £3.65 each our expectations are for something better than lukewarm milk that had the colour of the palest coffee and no taste… NT YOU MUST DO BETTER. We will be purchasing a small flask and in future we will bring our own coffee as we’ve been disappointed far too many times now by the quality of coffee served in the cafes here.

Beautiful walk around fountains abbey not enough time to do connecting Studley Royal sadly, you need a good 4 hours to do both. Dog friendly seen people with pushchairs too. Great play park for kids (we walked the opposite way to the map so this was last) choir music playing from the abbey ruins which was a great touch

Beautiful. Stunning Abbey ruins in a tranquil area with a lovely river and water gardens. Unfortunately due to the severe amount of rain we had had and time we didn’t get to explore the whole grounds this time but will definitely be going back. Has a really nice atmosphere about it. Cafe, shop and toilets are all available at the entrance/exit.

Awesome and majestic, yet peaceful. The site takes you back in time. It's easy to imagine the Monks walking quietly amongst the buildings of the Abbey and surrounding structures. Beautifully maintained by the National Trust, it really was a joy to visit again. Very highly recommended.

Nice place to visit. Went mid week during half term and was quite busy. No real issues parking was more than adequate, and the price in to abbey and gardens was £18 per person. About 10 minutes outside of Ripon. Gardens are really nice. Lots of walking required, and Abbey is in a valley, so walking up and down to it might be challenging to some people. National Trust property so gift aid donation available if you feel you would like to add another £1.50 to entrance price. Spent approx 3 hrs here. Nice coffee shop at bottom of water gardens. Got quite busy mid afternoon.

A fabulous visit, easy parking, short walk to visitor centre. Excellent facilities; the cafe was superb with lots of food choices, the gift shop was well stocked. The abbey itself was an easy walk from the entrance and was amazing, much more impressive than photos can do justice. A great day out for all ages.

What a lovely place, one of the biggest abbey’s I’ve been too. You can explore inside and out of most of it as well which is great. It’s dog friendly. There’s lots of areas and little things to do like bird watching and there’s some lovely ponds and lakes to walk round.

Lovely place. Abbey ruins are very impressive. Lots of trails for walking. A little bit steep in places but lots of temples in the woods to explore. The water gardens are beautiful. The visitor centre is a very impressive building with restaurant, shop and toilet facilities. You can even borrow a lock or puncture outfit for your bike.

Great outdoor space. Facilities are well specced. Only suggestion would be for more waste disposal options across the site as they seem to be only focused around the visitor centre. On a lovely day with many people having picnics this would be helpful. The Abbey is grand and the natural environment surrounding it are magnificent.

Have visited before, and again, as with my earlier visit, the sun decided to call, it's a fabulous site, very impressive, atmospheric too, a place to take time, absorb that atmosphere, marvel at what was achieved by it's founders, and built on over decades! A place I could visit again and again, and never tire of, Studley Royal also lifts the spirits, beautifully landscaped gardens, deer park etc., I really can't recommend this place highly enough! If this place doesn't move you, then I'm speechless!

Long been on my list of places to visit and we’ll worth the wait. We stopped in the cafe for lunch first and the pasty was delicious, good choice of food on offer. I had no idea the abbey was so huge and interesting. It was a cloudy and damp day but it didn’t damp our enthusiasm. We walked up to the water gardens and stopped for a welcome coffee overlooking the lake. So much more to do so already planning our next visit.
