Had a 2 night work excursion up in Durham and this was a real find. Great comfortable room with a fantastic breakfast. Evening meal was also to a high standard. Service all round from bar staff to waitresses was spot on. I would recommend the Old Mill definitely. Will be back the next time I'm up there again.

Went on a busy night. Food was gorgeous, every mouth full. Servers were friendly and polite but the wait after the meal was so slow we didn't bother with dessert. Will be going back to try again, give it another go on a quieter evening. I do love a pudding.

We go to the Old Mill quite a bit for a drink. In the summer it is a great place to sit out and enjoy the nice weather. We have been for food with family and also just us two. The food is excellent. There may be a wait at busy times, but that happens anywhere. The food is well worth the wait. The staff are what makes it for me, though. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Good for disabled access as well.

Had a meal here on Friday evening Despite it been very busy, the waitresses got our drinks and food order very quickly. They were friendly and polite. The food arrived and was cooked to perfection. In fact it's one of the best meals out. Well done on the service you provided. Thank you

I have been going to the old mill for over a decade now and this place is perfect! The waiters are friendly and kind, the food is great and the whole building is well kept and decorated. If I could give more stars I would, because this place is incredible.

A party of 8 two kids and 6 adults on coeliac (gluten free). We hadn't booked but we're seated quickly and got menus and drinks orders done and dusted on a timely fashion. Drinks arrived quickly and the real ales were so excellent and local breweries which was even better. Food arrived promptly and all together and was hot and extremely tasty with no complaints from kids or grown ups. Desserts looked amazing and were polished off quickly by those who had them. Overall and excellent experience and will be back again soon food and customer service was excellent.

Tucked off the roundabout, I wasn't even aware this place existed. Building is clean and well presented though location and style make it very dark inside on the whole. Just had a drink this time which was lovely. Staff were the highlight. Great banter and exceptionally friendly. I'm told the food here is decent so will be back to have a meal in the next few weeks.

Visited today with my family, managed to get a table immediately.... normally there can be a wait as the old mill can get very busy, particularly on Sundays. Sunday dinner was very good, meat, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, veg & gravy, all really nice. Mash wasn't to our liking (bland/tasteless), but the rest of the dinner made up for that. Beef was lovely! Puddings were great, good choices, Good choice of quality ice creams too. Staff were very nice, efficient and polite. Bar was well stocked, they serve a good pint of guiness... We would certainly go back and recommend for food and drinks.

Amazing experience Nice food Very nice rooms in budget with all the 3-4 star amenities Only challenging bit was, mostly the person who is managing the Dining is the one who is supposed to be at the front desk, so mostly unavailable. You can't find directions to the rooms by yourself at first.

My last visit was for an evening meal. My partner and I ordered chips with our meal, but to our disappointment where usually we would be presented with delicious twice cooked chips, we were given skinny frozen chips (cooked of course). We won't be hurrying back

Always bring my parents here when we visit them. Good food, generous portions and friendly service. It seemed rather quiet for a Saturday evening last night, and we waited quite a while longer than usual for our food, given that the place wasn't heaving with other patrons. Worth waiting for though.

Food really good..service excellent. Only thing is I don't like customers looking at me as they have to stand around in doorways or block the bar area whilst waiting for a table.

Seriously nice food, party of 8 and most having different meals and every single person loved there meal, mine was steak and ale pie, plenty of beef and it melted in my mouth, well recommended a visit, service excellent and quick. Didn't see or use rooms, but still gave 5 stars so as not to affect overall rating.

We stayed here for three nights. The food is gorgeous! We both had the steak and ale pie. I can honestly say this was the best pie I have ever had! Large amount of tender beef, totally delicious! The full English breakfast was great too. Friendly and helpful staff. My only negative comment is the mattress was a little too hard for me (I have arthritis in my lower back) which gave me back ache. Overall totally recommend this pub. I just noticed another reviewer has given a horrible review. This is completely unjustified in my opinion. If you want to stay somewhere with good transport links stay in a city. Every night the pub had loads of people eating there - this speaks for itself as to the quality of the food, extremely competitive prices. We had the full English 3 mornings and it was huge and yummy. Many staff were young but they were all friendly, helpful and efficient. Would definitely stay there again if we go up near Durham (we are in Somerset so a long way away).

First time visit for food following recommendation from work colleague. Absolutely lovely! Everyone else's food looked amazing too. No complaints at all. Will definitely be back.

Very comfortable hotel, lovely food.. good choice of drinks, reasonable prices.. attentive staff. However, we were a party of 5, and were told "no need" to book a table.. come the evening.. we had to wait for a table.. about 20 minutes.. then at the table we were told our food would take about an HOUR to come!! Why aren't hotel guests allowed to reserve tables? Why weren't we "warned" if the possible food delay when we checked into the hotel? Like I say, the resulting food was very tasty and well presented.. just disappointed that as hotel guests we were not able to be prioritised.. it would be better if residents are treated better... lots of other hotels do this as part of the customer service package.

The whole family went out for Sunday lunch and each and every one of us really enjoyed it. We will definitely return. We turned up without booking at 2pm and had a ten minute wait to be seated and then it took about 10 minutes for all of the meals to arrive once we had chosen. I thought this was very reasonable considering we turned up without a booking. The staff kept us informed of waiting times and food preparation times. The service was excellent and all of the staff were all very professional and each and every one of them smiled every time they spoke to us even though it was obvious it was extremely busy.

Delicious food. Always completely stuffed even without a starter or dessert. Attentive friendly staff. Quite expensive but it's not your average basic pub meal. Food is amazing. The fish and chips is better than any chip shop! Even if you order off the smaller menu - panninis, hot baguettes etc it's a huge plateful and very filling. Sunday dinner is lovely too.

We dine here on a weekly basis, service is always great, the food is always great. Portion sizes are amazing and for the price I’m not sure how they do it I can’t find fault at all. My wife is gluten intolerant and they even make fantastic gluten free gravy

Great place with clean and comfy rooms although a little dated. The food is incredible, I had the mixed grill and I'm confident that you could order anything off the menu and it would be excellent. The service was brill with very friendly staff that were willing to chat and give suggestions. Will be returning again for sure as visit the are often with work.

The bar has lots of personality. Very nice helpful staff. Food was good and there was plenty of it. Price very reasonable. I would make a point of staying here if I were in the area again. It's a bit romantic, too.

Much brighter lighting inside while eating than last time I visited . Think i preferred the atmosphere it created before but just personal opinion. I had slow cooked beef with leek dumpling. Beef was dry but did come with gravy beat. Much better when cooked in the gravy. Dumpling was tasteless pretty disappointing really as used to enjoy it here. Oh and in toilets no method of drying hands after washing them.

Stayed for a few nights for work. Easy to find, big carpark, decent beer on tap, food was really good, breakfast was superb, room was nice and clean, shower was great, bed was comfortable. Staff were great, every one I spoke to was friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. If I'm back up that way again I will book here without hesitation.

First time visit. Really busy Saturday night. Took around half an hour from ordering to receiving the meal but the waitress did advise when ordering. Had steak and ale pie with chips and garden peas. Steak was really tender and tasty. Think it cost Β£12 95?? Will definitely return

Brilliant stay at the Old Mill Glen, in particular, was incredible. Juggling front desk, bar management including training new staff and still incredibly friendly and inviting. We arrived on the day for a last minute room and loved our stay so much we booked again for the following Sunday night! Rooms: The most amazing rain shower. It was so delightful! Bed was super comfy and lots of pillows to choose from! Breakfast is included which was super yummy! Bar: Friendly bar staff, yummy cocktail Very big portions! The food was super yummy! Brilliant kids menu

Me and my daughter (9yrs old) enjoyed our meal this lunch time. I got the sausage and onion bun from the light bites menu and my daughter got the kids pizza, chips and beans. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the surroundings.

The Old Mill staff have been professional, accommodating, and friendly in everything they do and nothing has disappointed me during our stay. Comfortable, clean, spacious rooms that are well equipped. Superb food quality and choice, both breakfasts and evening meals. All concerned should be proud of what they offer a guest. I would travel further than normal to stay here again when working in the area. 😁

Looks like a cosy pub, but with excellent food and room for big groups. We had a round table so we could all speak to eachother, the servers were fantastic and really accommodating and the food was immense. Absolutely going to return to try everything else on the menu.

Nice building. A little on the dark side but Nice non the less. Food was OK well cooked. A little on the expensive side compared to nearby pub restaurants but you get a good size meal. Huge downside to this was that in the toilets there didn't appear to be any baby changing facilities. There wasn't even a little gap or anywhere suitable to lay baby down to change.
