Loved it. I had a great bungalow at the end with lovely views, perfect for sitting out with a pot of coffee. Large and very comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff, and with good English too. Great guide recommended for a fantastic 8 hour day out at the National Park. Was extremely lucky with close lemur encounters. Wonderful waterfall for swimming. Night walk great too. Hotel provides great little picnic lunch as needed. In town the locals have a super thermal bath set in grass by the river. Hotel is conveniently located for all things. All brilliant 😁

Setam lodge is located close (15 min walk) to the enterence of the Ranamofana national park, and is a few minutes drive from the Ranamofana village. Setam is build on the hill side, so each lodge has a great view of the with jungle filled hillesides. Setam lodge is a bit dated, and needs some love and maintence, this very noticeable when the elektriscity sometimes fails, or when the lights start te blink in the restaurant. However we found it not a big issue. The staff is friendly and helpful, the lodges are clean and functional. The restaurant is in the daylight nice, it offers a good view, at night the hard white lightning and lack of music makes it seem like a train station. Besides the atmosphere at night, the food is quite good and served well, for example the breakfast is more than a standard continental breakfast.

Great location, the only one within a 10 minute walk from the national park - all other hotels are 7 kms down the road. The rooms were spacious and clean. Food was a bit on the pricier side but correct. Highly recommended.

Nice location with view on the forest, although there is a long stair leading to the bungalows, which could be a challenge for people with motility problems. Nice, clean and large rooms with large beds. But here is where the good things stop. Being far away from town (5 kms), one is obliged to eat at the hotel's restaurant, which was a great disappointment. Tiny portions of food (the "fish" I ordered consisted of three (!) thumbnail sized flakes of fish meat mixed with stir fried vegetables), probably the smallest I ever had, for very high prices for Malagasy standards. It was the only time in Madagascar I had to complain about the food. The restaurant was shameless rip-off. I therefore hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Nestled a top a hill minutes from the official entrance to Ranomafana forest, this lodge offers very basic rooms. Rooms are clean but hot water is about ten minutes per room, there was only one working power outlet, thick blankets were given since temperature could not be controlled, and TONS of insects though mosquito nets were provided. Staff was incredibly sweet and the Vary Amin’anana was the best we had in the entire country!

Rooms were very clean and tidy and the gardens are very pretty. It’s in a very good location for the national park and night walks. The highlight was the food. Some of the best food we had while travelling around. Staff were also very helpful.

We stayed here for two nights in May 2008. The Setam Lodge is located in beautiful surroundings not far from the Ranomafana National Park. The accommodation was good, including the food and drinks. The staff was friendly and helpful. We have had many wonderful hours here.

Cute hotel perched one side of the mountain, a bit of traffic passing but you cannot hear with shutters on doors and windows. Good quality food in a nice sit down restaurant, packed lunches etc available for hiking in park. Book guide Emile Rajeriarison if you can get him. Notice: Don't take the RN25 road from RN7 to the lodge...look for RN45 section.

All the facilities of the enclosure are well conditioned. The restaurant, the gardens, parking and rooms are spotless, the staff is nice, efficient and helpful. The rooms (bungalows) are very clean and pay attention to details, both aesthetic and practical. Hot water, clean towels, mosquito nets and continental breakfast included in the price. The restaurant's food is very good and plentiful, and the receptionist is very friendly. WiFi (just in the restaurant) is very slow, but that’s general in all the country. Highly recommended for travellers who need amenities and safety, because it feels being in a oasis of commodities, service and politeness in the middle of the mountain, so perhaps too comfortable for those seeking bit of adventure and nature. Good quality according prices.

Well the bungalows are Nice with good beds, a good shower and really dark so you Will be able to sleepout nicely. The food is good but the portions are extremely small and on arriving we had the feeling the staff wasnt really happy with us showing up cause we didn't make any reservations.

Excellent place to stay as it's located in Ranomafana National Park. Bungalows are comfy and homely. It's very clean, the food is tasty, Rhum Arrange with lychee or ginger is $1 and one heck of a view! If you're lucky you might see a brown lemur, a leaf gecko or two and birds that aren't a bit shy!!

5 minutes by car from the entrance to the Ranomafana park. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Malagasy breakfast included in the price. Good dinner. Very good quality/price ratio.

The staff was really friendly and helpful the bungalow we stayed in was spacious but a bit worn out. The bed hat a net around but it was difficult to keep it closed to keep it's function. You try to close an existing gap on one side and it opens on the other side. The sleeping room has only one power outlet and it is far away from bed, used to be for a TV that doesn't exist anymore. Breakfast will surprise you, juice is one glass the size of an espresso cup (not fresh), then you get a single tost slice and one half baguette a dry croissant and a table spoon unidentifiable sweet jam. The best option is American as it comes with an omelette which is fully ok. The park is at walking distance. Food if you decide to eat there is a rip off, be prepared to pay double price for appetizer sized main dishes. We asked is we could pay in Euros, they said yes but offered us only 3800 for 1€ (the official exchange rate was at 4960)

My wife and I stayed 3 nights allowing us to visit the park for 2 days. Steam Lodge is well run with very nice functional rooms overlooking primary forest. Good restaurant and helpful staff. It’s a 10 minute drive to the town and 3 minutes to the park entrance.
