1 | A museum located in the atomic bunker, which focuses on the history of Albania. If possible, I recommend visiting it as soon as you arrive in the country. You will get a better understanding of Albania. 2 | The exhibition consists mostly of photographs with captions and copies of documents. Most of them are in Albanian only. 3 | Admission without an audio guide is 7 EUR / 700 LEK. Admission with an audio guide is 10 EUR / 1000 LEK. Payment can only be made in cash. 4 | The tour of the bunker took us approximately 2 hours. I read about 80% of the descriptions. A large part of the exhibition is dedicated to the events surrounding World War II, when the country was invaded by Italy and Germany. 5 | An interesting part of the museum are the accessible rooms of the commander, including the bedroom. The commander was the only one with a carpet on the floor. 6 | The museum is located outside the city, and can be reached from the city centre by bus number 11 (Porcelain line). You can buy your ticket once inside. The journey time from the main square is around 30 minutes. 7 | In the centre of Tirana there is also BUNK'ART 2, which is focused on the secret police.

Super interesting but where was the art?? I quickly reset my expectations but either they should install more art or change the name. I could see some really cool site specific art works going in there. Otherwise was very interesting to read the history of modern day Albania. And of course the space is incredibly cool.

Such an intense experience! Definitely worth a visit! You don't only get to experience the Bunker itself, but also a big part of Albania's history, there are many stories told that will move you. I would visit again. Make sure you've got enough time to go through the whole bunker, I stayed there for nearly 3 hours.

Bunk’ART is a must see! There’s so much to learn. They did a wonderful job with the displays and written text. I appreciated the English translations! Definitely don’t miss this place. The music, sound effects, fog, and foam machines added a nice a touch! I would honestly visit again. Make sure to eat before so you can spend enough time. General admission is 500 LEK per person. Great price

1 hour was spent here, could take 2 hours if I read all the placard. Lots of info mainly in the 30's and 40's. I thought it was interesting. Power went out for a little bit. Not recommended and nothing interesting for children in my opinion. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Must see attraction in Tirana. It's bigger and more informative than the city center offshoot. I'd suggest to pair this with the Dajti express as they're right next to each other. We spent maybe one hour going through. There is a lot to read, not always in English. Maybe also bring a coat as it can be cold. There is parking on site if you bring a car.

One of the best places to visit in Tirana if you want to understand the country of Albania, it's past, and present. This was the main bunker built into the side of a mountain during the Cold War to keep the Communist despot Enver Hoxha and his cronies safe during a feared nuclear bombardment. (He showed the same paranoia as the current bunch: Putin, Xi and Kim.) There are furnished rooms where the privileged would have lived underground. Mechanics of ventilation and protection shown. Room after room of history of Albanian conquest by Italians then Germans and the even worse treatment meted out by Albanians on their own people. Lots of other stuff including art installations. Easy to get to from Tirana's Skanderbeg central square bus depot (located between the big mosque and the cultural centre). Many buses to Porcelan direction where the bus terminates - about half an hour journey. Costs 40 lek each way (6/7/23). It is near this point, locals or Google can show you the way. Entry 700 lek or 400 for 60+. (Cable car to mountain top right next to it if you want to make a day of it.)

The bunker itself is impressive and huge, but there was a lot to read - sometimes with mistakes in English. I found the museum not interactive enough and got tired of all the text at some point. Hence, 4 starts

Very nice museum, informative and huge. They offer audio guides in 3 languages and have sufficient information boards around the museum. Ticket costs 500 Lek per adult and 700 Lek with audio guide which is very affordable. A great experience!

If you have a car, absolutely drive here. Bunk Art gives you a basic understanding of Albania’s tough history post WW2 while visiting a bunker! What more do you want?! Tickets are €7 for adults, €8 with the audioguide which I preferred (bring headphones). Free parking on premise (don’t let the guy in the tunnel tell you otherwise, he tries). Takes about 1h to visit.

A lot of information about Enver Hodja, the crazy dictator in Albania, who build 173.000 bunkers in 8 years, around one for every 11 citizens of country. Something not to miss when in Tirana.

Wonderful place to learn a little about the history and culture of this wonderful country. I only ask that those who come to visit him, respect him and do not spoil anything. Respect the markings and don't mess with anything. Help maintain and preserve heritage.

Unexpectedly, this is not an underground bunker, everything is on ground floor inside the mountain. It is also a military bunker, not a fallout shelter, so it is built for government to hide only up to few weeks or months. Having said that, the museum is a must-visit for anyone entering Albania. It was kept secret until 2014 so everything is quite fresh and original. Best thing about it for me was the various unique smells of old things: funiture, paint, wiring. It really made it easy to get the vibe and imagine it being used for real. There are several dozens of rooms with varied random content not necessarily related to bunker, history, war or economy. Seems like they want this museum to be a one-stop-shop for Albania english speaking tourists, since their other museums lacked translations. Only about half of the rooms had expositions in 2022, so they have a lot of space for other content in the future. The bunker is linear and takes 1-2 hours to go through. The corridors are narrow so I advice going right after they open to avoid crowds. I recommend against buying audio guide, since the same text is easier to read next to rooms and the app is not comfortable and does not work well (no wifi during my visit). Some of the rooms were poorly explained and boring, it was hard to connect description with the material inside. I had trouble discerning which parts of exhibition were from bunker realities (bufet) and which from daily communist life (shop, apartment), but all of the staff was very helpful and answered my questions with fluent english.

Me and my friend went there a lil bit late near the closing time and we're unable to read everything in detailed. We did had a quick run through of the more visual history of the war bunkers ana love it so much. Some history information are in Albanian and we couldn't understand, but a huge amount has English wordings to it for tourist to understand. Definitely wished we could've had more time for the visit. The place gave an eerie feeling and vibe and it's thrilling. Admissions for it is 500 lek/person as of March 2022

If you are interested in the political history of Albania in the 20th century, this place is a treasure. Even just coming to see this for the structure itself is very worthwhile. Maybe avoid on busy days, cause the tight tunnels could be difficult to explore. 500L for tourists is a very fair price too!

Not the easiest place to get to, but worth it. So you get to here by getting the L11 bus from the centra bus station close to skenderbeu Square (Costs 40 lek). Get off at Teleferique and walk up the hill and eventually you'll find it. The museums out of the way, but it was exceptionally good. Not sure if Bunk Art 2 the smaller version has the same level of quality

7€ this bunker and 10€ including the one in the center but this is bigger. We couldn't even see everything because you need minimum 3 hours and we had only 1 before closing. The bad thing is that they only accept cash so we had to run through the tunnel and find the only ATM in that area that it's way less clean than Tirana center

Great experience with detailed history of Tirana and Albania. I opted for this over the national history museum and purchased the 2-fer pass for bunk’art 2, although I thought 1 was much better / bigger / more interesting. Can be combined with the gondola and mountain top although don’t make the mistake I did and try the gondola on a Tuesday when it’s closed!

If you are in tirana worth to take a visit in this bunkar art 1 museum. It's outside tirana 30min by bus with l11 you pay 40lek and easy bus will take you there. The cost of visit is 7€ or combo with buncar art2 from city center is €10. I easily spend 1h inside without reading everything if you really want you can spend much more time as is quit big. Overall good experience. I think is a bussy must view thinks in tirana as I been out of season and i see lots of tourist that's why I can see the make money but outside looks like from the ww2 verry dirty and leaft not been touch in make it look better. Shame for this.

Amazing museum in a former cold war bunker. It starts with a walk through a tunnel, then you buy tickets from a little wooden house and make your way walking up a narrow road towards the entrance in the bunker. There are a couple levels and each one has rooms with a thematic. It's mostly historical, from pre-WW2 to the comunist times. Most explanation is also written in English. It would have been nice to have more videos and interactive things, not just pictures and writing but I appreciate the work that was done to transform this former bunker in a museum and it's a must try experience. There's an unique feeling to it. Imagine having to live in a bunker after a nuclear apocalypse.

Gigantische Anlage . Sehr gut aufbereitet .

Bonkers bunker. Upmarket 70's bunker built for the president and his closest allies. As cavernous, as it was pointless. Built on a slope, you walk to the top level outside, and exit at the lowest level. Great place for art, but sadly only a few installations are here, which is a shame given the international visitors and exposure.

Whilst it is a bit out the way, BUNK'ART is a must visit whilst in Tirana. It is an immersive experience that does a great job at educating you about Albanian history. Because it is less popular site than other similar sites in more touristy cities in Europe, there is far more access and an eerie 'realness' which makes BUNK'ART unique and a better around experience.

If you want to know more about communism and visit an amazing bunker this is the place to be. You literally walk into history. Some of the rooms inside are still exactly as they used to be in the old days. All the rooms together show the dark history of communism and how the Albanian people were fighting it. Things are in English, so you can read and understand everything. This place is overwhelming and absolutely worth visiting!

A must see while in Tirana. I got a sense of what was going on with Bunk Art 2 downtown but this place takes the cray to the extreme level and drives home the national plan to build a bunker for every 11 people, which they never had to use, and could have easily built homes for every person but then they would have been taken and bombed for sure.

A fascinating glimpse into the paranoid world of communist Albania, this is a huge underground complex on several levels, with many rooms and corridors. Some of the rooms are recreations of how the bunker would have been used, while others give a history of 20th century Albania. It's quite a walk from the city centre, but there's a frequent bus service that drops you off nearby and picks up visitors outside the entrance. Just board the bus and a conductor will come round selling tickets. Make sure you have small change or low denomination notes, as the fare is very cheap. I combined my visit with a cable car trip, as that is within walking distance of the bunker.

I visited BUNK'ART 1 in early May with my parents and sister. There were very few visitors, so parking was available and there was no wait to buy tickets. We spent around close to two hours in BUNK'ART 1, because there were so many rooms to see and lot of things to read. Most exhibits were translated, although the English was awkward but understandable. I liked two rooms most – they were right next to each other and made me think more about the experience of Albanians who lived under Enver Hoxha's regime. The first room was one with audio of missiles dropping – I I almost missed it because the door was closed. I didn't stay in there long because it reminded me of the missiles being shot at Israel and Ukraine. The second room was dedicated to the memory of Albanian soldiers and forced laborers who were injured or died building the bunkers across Albania, which were never needed, thank G-d. I highly recommend visiting BUNK’ART 1. Please be aware that there are a lot of steps, which will be difficult for those with mobility issues. Additionally, the toilets are all the way near the exit.

I don't know where to start with this review...but I'll start by saying this was an incredibly sobering experience for me personally because of my own family's experience with communism in Fidel Castro's Cuba. Too many parallels with Enver Hoxha's Albania. I was emotionally moved especially realizing what the Albanian people have gone through and overcome. This "museum" is inside of a bunker that the Albanian dictator had built for himself and the political elite in case of an invasion,an invasion he kept assuring his people would soon happen. (He had Albanians build over 700,000 bunkers all over the country in fear of the promised invasion, part of his control came from keeping the populace in a state of fear.) There's exhibits from the world wars until his take over and implementation of strict Stalinist marxism, then his death and the eventual fall of Communism in Albania. Like my Serbo-Croatian friend said to me recently Enver Hoxha made Fidel Castro look like Santa Claus ...and after visiting this bunker anyone would probably agree!

A very interesting historical place to visit to understand the history of Albania. I would recommend either taking a guide or going to any other city tour before visiting this place: you need to know some key info about Albania before going here if you want to visit this place on your own. The entry ticket is cash only!!! The whole concept is that you have some display in the building of the old bunker. However, there is very little difference from room to room and little interactions - only reading of the old documents. In the end was interesting to see a few rooms with art installations. Overall worth a visit, but there is huge potential for this place to be better. You can reach it with public bus too.

Great place to learn about the recent history of Albania and the regime of Enver Hodxa. I’ve been told they are different with the Bunker in the city center, so on my next trip I will visit that one too. You can buy tickets in the entrance. Make sure to take something with long sleeves because as you walk through the bunker it becomes cold.

Really interesting place to be if you want to have an insight of what the bunker used to look like and a history timeline of what happened in Albania. Truly an interesting concept of turning the bunker to an exhibition. Although I have to admit it was scary at some points, due to it being a bunker but also to the loud noises that would pop up randomly in some of the rooms. So if you are someone who feel uncomfortable in close spaces and loudness, this might not be something for you. Other than that, I do recommend it because of its uniqueness!

This fantastic conversion – from a massive Cold War bunker on the outskirts of Tirana into a history and contemporary art museum – is Albania's most exciting new sight and easily a Tirana highlight. With almost 3000 sq metres of space underground spread over several floors, the bunker was built for Albania's political elite in the 1970s and remained a secret for much of its existence. Now it hosts exhibits that combine the modern history of Albania with pieces of contemporary art.

This was a good museum walking you through a massive, perfectly preserved nuclear bunker from the communist era. I enjoyed the variety in the exhibits, with plenty of written information, but also audio-based exhibits, visual exhibits, art, and genuine historical paraphernalia from the time period. I walked in knowing nothing about the history of Albania, and walked out with a solid grasp on how Albania was impacted by WWII, how the communist regime took over, and what life was like during their rule. Great way to see something interesting and learn a lot about how Albania's modern culture came to be.

Awesome place to visit. Easiest way to get here is via a taxi or you can take the bus. We took the taxi and the taxi went through the first tunnel and dropped us right in front of the ticket office. We arrived at 10am just as a huge tour group was leaving. We were very lucky. We were the only ones in the bunker. We never saw another person the whole time we were in there. There are lots of signs explaining what you are seeing in the tunnels but you should probably buy the audio guide. That’s something we wished we had done. You can spend easily two hours wandering the halls and rooms in the bunker. They also have WiFi down there so you can stay connected the whole time. It was a very cool site to see. Highly recommend it. Leaving the bunker you can try to find a taxi, there are several taxi stands heading out of the bunker towards the city. But we didn’t see a single cab... we ended up walking the 50 minutes back to the city. Overall. Must see place.

We took a long time to find this entrance. As for the bunker itself, it is quite interesting, especially since Tirana is not teeming with interesting places. So I recommend visiting. (Original) Первое, что хочется сказать, это то, что вход в бункер расположен в другом месте - возле Vila 17 lounge ( так и гуглите). Мы много времени потратили, чтобы найти этот вход. It is certainly an interesting place. But I think the name is misleading. There was almost nothing in relation to art. It is more about Albanian history, bunkers etc. Which is fine and definitely worth a visit, but we expected something more art related based on the name. And it is not a good place to bring young children in my opinion.

not so much Art but a lot of information about Albanian 20th century history and Hoxha himself. You can visit nearly the complete bunker (it is really big)

A very interesting place to visit, you can find a lot of historical info inside, is quite big but will keep you entertained! Fairly easy to find it, if you don’t want to spend a lot of money you can get there by bus from Tirana’s city center for 40 lek

Great place to visit in Tirana to get to know more about the history of Albania. There are two bunkarts in Tirana, one that is in the city center and this one that is a bit further, but apparently the best one, if you have to choose. It costs 500lek and they only accept cash like most of the places in Albania

Now this place is absolutely amazing! If you are Cold War history geek, looking to know more about the history of communist Albania - this is the place for you. The bunker is guarded by the military and it is part of a military base. Entering is via tunnel which is very cool. And then the fun starts. Entering the park in front of the Nuclear and Chemical bunker for the officials of the Albanian Labour party (communists) you enter the world of the Cold War. There is a lot to see. 5 levels of rooms full of history, including the apartment of Enver Hoxha. Some people say it is not interesting as Bunk'Art 2, but for me it was amazing experience, way better than the Bunk'Art in the city center. Again there is a room for improvement, the gift shop can be better, but still there is a replica of an authentic Albanian bunker, that you can buy as a souvenir. As an advise - print some maps as a souvenirs - in the bunkers there are maps of the bunker clusters in Albania, some posters with the bunker blueprints and stuff like that. And the staff is very cool! I've asked a nice lady for a song name that was part of the exhibition and she gave it to me, as well as brief lecture on the subject of local music. A must see place if you are in Tirana.

Enough nice and interesting museum about Albania's history from period before World War II to beginning of 90-ties when Albania became democratic. Don't expect a real art here - this isn't art museum, but history museum. No idea why they added name Art in the name of museum. All information was written in Albanian and English. The location in google map is only a place where you can access museum. Museum itself and ticket office actually is on the other side of cable car station. The reason why it is so, is because museum and ticket office is located in military territory, which a civil person is forbidden to access differently. Outside of museum is forbidden to take pictures or videos as it is military territory.

Gives a good insight about the history of Albania and the story behind the bunkers. Needs at least 2 hours - there's detailed English description for all the rooms. The combo ticket for both bunkarts is at a discount

Eventhough BUNK'ART seems far away from the city centre, it is incredibly easy to get there by useing the blue city busses. The museum has a lot of information about Albania during WWII and the period after the war. The bunker itself is very big but once you're inside everything feels the same and so it feels like you're just walking through a damp tunnel voor 1.5 hours. That's why I only gave 3 stars.

Where else can you go to a museum in an old communist era bunker? Fantastic museum, probably the best in Tirana. I'd recommend walking there to see the sights and sounds of Tirana and then getting the blue L11 bus back to the centre.

Learned a lot about the history of Albania. Really interesting, many translations in English. Nice and cool during a hot day outside. Sometimes the chronology is set up a bit confusing but it resolves itself if you continue reading.

Not to be missed when in Tirana! 2 hours full of recent Albanian history. Well worth it! 7 euros for the ticket, or 10 euros for the combined ticket (this bunker + the one in the city center). Only cash!

This place is huge! Make sure you bring cash as they don't take card. You can get there from a bus in the centre for about 30p each and drops you outside. Inside there is loads of rooms and tunnels with lots of interesting info on Albania. Great place to visit

Wonderful, interesting, and surprising museum. The bunker itself is already an amazing site and the museum's historical information gives good context and facts. Be aware that those with mobility issues might have trouble getting to and around Bunk'art. There is a fairly steep and uneven hill up and many stairs inside. As well the atmosphere the museum creates is very evocative. There are flashing lights, loud sounds, and often the sound of a siren. Again this is not anything against the museum, it really added to experience but some folks might want to be aware

A well chosen place to exhibit the history of Albanias steps into and during communism. Fascinating structure. Punchy exhibits. Definitely recommend Car parking for free is available if you go into the tunnel all the way through. Otherwise take a bus for 100 lek Entry is 500. Bring earphones and the audio can be heard on your phone with their app - there is free WiFi.

Very interesting. A 5 levels nuclear bunker turned into a museum of resent history and wwii in albania and some rooms with art exhibitions. The place realy gets into you. A bit out of the city but easy to get with a bus (the buses start behind the clock tower).

First, just interesting as a historical artefact. Seeing a legit bunker was super interesting. Most of the museum (despite the name) is more of a historical museum. Less art than you would think, but what's there is well done.

If you only have time to see one sight while visiting Tirana, let it be Bunk'Art. This is a unique place that you will not see anywhere else in the world. It's a historical testimony to the folly of a paranoid dictator who thought that he could fend off the world by creating a network of bunkers that dotted the Albanian landscape. The largest of these bunkers happens to be set in rocky hills on the outskirts of Tirana. It's a vast network of tunnels designed to be an underground city that could sustain life for a long time. The dictator used it occasionally, but never in the context that it was created for. An absolute must.

If old cold war bunkers is your thing, then you have to see this. The tricky part is getting there. Be sure to ask a local for what bus to take and come back. I took the L11 bus from the bus station near the clock tower, this dropped me 1 block south of it. Coming back i took the L11 from a station that was 100m west of the entrance.

Bigger and more interesting than Bunk Art 2 that's in the centre of the city, and getting there is part of the fun (bus L11 goes from the centre). It's also right next to the furnicular so you can hit both. Plenty of information in English and more than enough rooms to look at - overall a good experience.

Used during the cold war. People lived here, spent that period here, built a life, even a world underground. Under the leadership of Enver Hoxha, the things he used, the room he stayed in, he was a popular leader. We have a lot of information. We remember all the people of that period with respect and love. A place to see.

A Bunker visit is fundamental to understand how the history of Albania has been destroyed by the hardest communist regime of the eastern europe. The crazyness of those years are represented by this and all the other 170000 bunkers built underground. My advice is to get to the Bunker BY FEET. It's one hour and a half of walking but it is worth. Along the trip you can see different aspects of Tirana, very different from the city center.
