The trip was refreshing. Weather was on our side when we went, sunny but windy. The trip can be done on your own if you feel adventurous. Bus access was affordable & it's easy going to Kruja from Tirana. The museum was clean and well maintained. Apart from the fact that you can dine in one of the local restaurants close to the castle while enjoying a breath taking views of your natural surroundings

(Translated by Google) It is the largest historical museum in Albania with a wealth of Hungarian historical references. The museum is beautiful as well as the surroundings, the ruins, the panorama, the bazaar and the town. The most amazing sight in Albania, in a fairytale setting. See my pictures: (Original) Albánia legnagyobb történelmi személyiségének múzeuma, rengeteg magyar történelmi vonatkozással. A múzeum is gyönyörű, de a környezete is, a romok, a panoráma, a bazársor és a városka. A legcsodálatosabb látnivaló Albániában, mesebeli környezetben. Lásd képeim:

The place is free to visit, in renovation and with an awesome view towards the city. Right before the entry there are lot of coffees and a bazaar ("charshiya") with all kinds of items. Bring cash though, they wouldn't serve me coffee because I wanted to pay by card. More than anything the view and mountains behind the castle are more impressive than the castle itself. It's a really small one. A mosque is being built next to the turkish baths. It'll probably be better in a few years. Traffic is horrible. As far as I understand a sat/sun visit may take x5 time because of inability to leave.

We have been on a castle visiting spree in Europe. Before this one my favorite was Prajama castle in Slovenia. I must say though this castle was absolutely stunning. The fee to get in is quite inexpensive about 500 Lek or 5 Euro. It's one of the most well kept castles I've seen out here. The journey is treacherous though. I rented a car and drove and it was an adventure. Definitely an adventure worth the destination though.

Great place for walk, visiting and learning some historical facts about the country! For entry into the main building of the castle have an entrance fee which is not much. Includes also the ethnographic museum where it's showed how people was living before. For me that was really interesting and really beautiful part of the place! Stuff is great. Place is kept clean. The zone around the castle is absolutely free of charge. Great spot for photos and views!

Beautiful medieval castle! The old bazaar right before getting to the castle is really impressive as well. Narrow little streets are really picturesque and full of vendors selling all kinds of souvenirs.

Better go and see for yourself :) The history of Skanderbeg , Albanian National Hero , is very well summarised in this Museum. Beyond this, the remains of the castle are interesting and the view from the top is breathtaking. They say you can see as far as Italy! They really knew what they were doing when they chose this place for a castle 😏

Loved it! I went to Kruje with my friends and we had so mutch fun watching all of that stuff. The restaurants were near us and the old baazar too. Entering the museum was a whole different thing, it was crazy and awesome. Old pictures, old flags and other old things that represent Albania in the past. The only problem in the museum was that you were not allowed to take photos but we didn't really care because we were magnified. Awesome I totally recomend it!

I love castles. This one is only a short walk from town, through the awesome bazaar. The castle has been rebuilt into a museum, it didn’t work that well for me. Not like the castles of old but still worthwhile visiting for the spectacular views of the mountains and countryside. I love the way many buildings in the castle grounds are still used. Even though it doesn’t say, make sure you explore the grounds, that’s where the real treasure is.

The castle itself is beautiful, standing there as an immortal testament to the times gone by. It is, however, out and about Kruja itself where you get the feel for the place - from the stunning sights to the bazaar just a short walk from the castle. Go there and bask in the beauty that is Albania! Oh, and the restaurant at the foot of the castle, unexpectedly, is really, really good. The food was surprisingly great.

I love the investment on castle. Yes for most it looks like something normal but you should consider that the castle surived the ottoman raids so many times as in the end they almost destroyed it completely in rage. 😂

It's got great views of the town and the surrounding area. It's a nice walk up to the top. The castle itself is mostly a ruin, there are a couple of info signs about what used to be there etc. There are alot of nice cafes and restaurants in the grounds.

Really beautiful original and traditional place of mountains, the castle, and of the bazaar. Museum quite disappointing, a place with so much rich history and traditions but so little information and display. It's a bit of steep and rocky walking, definitely not for high heels. Cars can drive up to the top of the castle where there is a dormitory and restaurant a limited place . Otherwise, it is an all lovely and enjoyable trip.

I liked the history inside those walls. The two museums are gorgeous. Maybe the historicity of the place could have been preserved better by not allowing restaurants inside, but at least the walls have been covered with stone. Absolutely a must if you are visiting Albania.

This review is about 1 week Visit to Albania in the month of October 2021. Generally, the flight was pleasant, and the ticket was cheap and all that is due to the pandemic and the world just started to open. We stayed in the city of Tirana, the capital of Albania, It was long flight, with no service at all with no entertainment on board. Just few passengers and we are all with Masks. On arrival the weather was nice, some days were cold, others were with clear sunny skies. Make sure to have right comfy shoes, clothes and small backpack going with you all the time. Hotels are Cheap and very much affordable with minimal services and comfort, as we are on the go, that should be fine. Crime. Public security is generally good, particularly in Tirana, and Albanians are very hospitable to visitors. Crime and violence do occur in some areas. Food is bit challenging, but its as per your budget and taste. Most of the places can be visited in 30 minutes or less. Castle of Krujë is one must go to place, the Castle withstood three massive sieges from the Turks respectively in 1450, 1466 and 1467. The Kruja Bazaar is famous for being one of the oldest in Albania, also the Skanderbeg square. Churches, Wine Houses, fine dining, happy hours and all what you desire. Where every you go, first option is cash

A fairly steep climb, through the old market filled with gift shops, to get up to the castle and visitor centre. Castle is free to visit but visitor centre has €5 entrance fee (at time of writing) The climb is worth it for the views alone and it is easy to see why it resisted three seiges!

Incredibly well preserved, great history and great views. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a tourist trap on the way up. If you can make it past the people trying to corral you for parking and the souvenir shops in the old town, it's worth the short walk up! Don't miss the old fort that's free and behind the main castle.

This is also called Skanderberg castle. There is a museum over here. If you are interested in history this is the place for you. Also the view from here is very beautiful, you will find a lot of street shops here comparatively more costly than what you find in the city. But some of the items are really good and things that you will not find in the city. Recommended if you are a tourist in Albania 🇦🇱.

(Translated by Google) We had time and decided to visit Kroyu, because the road in almost an hour did not create obstacles for us. But when they arrived at the place, they were a little disappointed and decided that it was not worth wasting time. There are much more interesting places and cities in Albania, and such as Kruja can be visited in the event that you no longer know what to do and where to go. The only thing is that there are beautiful landscapes around but there are enough of them all over the country. By the way, the entrance to the fortress is free, and already in the museum on the territory it is worth paying. Nearby there is a souvenir market with products of different tastes.

(Translated by Google) At the castle in Krui in central Albania, there is the SKANDERBEGA Museum, an Albanian leader, insurgent and national hero. In the 15th century, Jerzy Kastriota, the son of an Albanian prince, was taken prisoner of Turkey, converted to Islam there and took the name Skander. He made himself known to the Turks as a brave soldier and for the numerous war merits he received the title from the sultan "beg", equivalent to the governor of the Ottoman Empire. The title he added joined his new name and henceforth was known as SKANDERBEG. The time came that he abandoned the Turkish army and Islam, returned to Albania and ousted the Turkish invaders. From his family fortress in Krui, he defended Albania all his life against Turkish invasions, effectively repelling their sieges. After death SKANDERBEGA Albanian resistance weakened and 10 years later the Turks conquered Albania again. This state of affairs continued until the final collapse of the Ottoman Empire after the First World War! In the castle, after which only ruins, defensive walls and guard tower remained, a castle-style building was added, in which a museum commemorating its national hero was built. The castle - museum is picturesquely situated on a hill with a view of the surrounding mountains and the town of Kruja below. The place is very charming and worth visiting. (Original) Na zamku w Krui w środkowej Albanii, znajduje się Muzeum SKANDERBEGA, to albański przywódca, powstaniec i bohater narodowy. W XV w Jerzy Kastriota, syn albańskiego księcia został wzięty do niewoli tureckiej, tam przeszedł na islam i przyjął imię Skander.

To reach the castle take road that takes you towards the top of town and there you will find the parking spot. Castle itself is valuable site with rich museum of Albanian history. Great views, highly recommended!

This is an amazing castle first built 1,000 years ago and offers a fascinating historical museum focused on Scanderbeg's role in Albanian history. Many displays and historical items. I had a tour guide to add to the experience. Kruja also offers an amazing views and the trip up the mountain by car is worth the trip as well, 360 view including the Adriatic Sea on a clear day.

The views from up here are amazing. To get to the castle you pass through a very nice bazar with lots of interesting things (you should remember to negotiate price btw) and the castle itself is quite interesting, it reminded me of Lord of the rings 😊

Lovely castle, quite hot in summer, due to lack of trees,Have that in mind. Park a bit lower if u are with a car, the streets are narrow. 2€ is parking for whole day. There is a sign for more parking places, but going till the end with car can be challenging in my opinion. Entrance to the castle is free, however museums inside charge entrance fee. There are 2 restaurants inside with amazing view and moderetaly priced (see last.photo for the view). I liked the town, a bit too many illegal huge buildings destroying the view, the old bazaar was quite nice as well. Enjoy!

A magnificent castle complex on a hill overlooking the historical city of Krujë. Definitely a must-see if you're staying in the area or passing through. You can see as far as Tirana and Adriatic Sea from the top. The castle features two museums and a handful of historical buildings and other structures. The entrance to the castle itself is free, both museums are paid and definitely worth a visit.

Interesting musem, but definitely do it with a guide, specially if your knowledge of Albanian history is none. Is it worth the trip from Tirana? Mmmmmmm…maybe for the views. The “Castle” is actually the reconstructed building that is now the museum. There is a really cute street full of shops.

The castle isn't big and won't take much time to explore. It has the Skanderbeg museum and the ethnographic museum and some cafes. I really loved the ethnographic museum and I recommend it. I didn't get a chance to visit the Skanderbeg museum though. The castle is full of panoramic views that produce awesome imagery and the scenes are magnificent. You'll get both the mountains and the city of Kruja in the background. Very beautiful.

If you need a break from Tirana, Kruka Castle is the perfect place to do so. Nice city in the mountains with shops, old Bazar and emty of small cafes. Castle is a very nice place where you can learn one of the most important facts about Albania history. Admission is free. You can take taxi from Tirana around 30 Euros each way or take a furgon from Bus Terminal. The journey is around 1 hour and it depends on traffic. Highly recoemdimg!
