Must visit while in Cordoba! The Mosque-Cathedral is welcoming for all. The blend of multiple types of religious and historical architecture is a marvel. I appreciated every moment of this visit. I wanted to pray while Inside but didn’t feel entirely comfortable doing so while people walked around freely. For Christians however there are pews set up and services that take place daily. This did not deter me from having peaceful and silent moments throughout my visit. We were concerned about dress code as it is hot in cordoba but if you dress modestly then it will be fine. We bought tickets online for 11 euros per person but the time slot may be a suggestion and not set in stone. We arrived early for our 12pm time slot. We walked in at 11am by having our QR codes scanned by security without any issue. Beware of people hanging out by the entrance that want to read your palm. If you have your palm read then separation of you and your money is in your future. Tons of shops all around the grand structure as well as many good local food options.

A beautiful place to visit and a must see if you visit Cordoba. The Mosque/Cathedral is a very unique place, which has lots of history behind it. If you go for the first time get the audio guide its really good and explains all the history behind it over the centuries. You can easily spend a full day in Córdoba. Make sure you visit the Roman Bridge too, it's literally just outside round the side. Overall Córdoba was amazing lots nice places around to take nice photos and plenty of souvenir shops and places to eat. X

The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba (World Heritage Site since 1984) is the most important monument in the entire Islamic West and one of the most amazing in the world. Its history summarizes the complete evolution of the Umayyad style in Spain, in addition to the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles of Christian construction. Under Visigoth domination, the Basilica of San Vicente was built on this same site, on which, after paying for part of the site, the primitive mosque was built. When the Muslim population grew, the basilica was completely acquired by Abderraman I and destroyed for the definitive construction of the first or main Alhama Mosque of the city. Currently, some construction elements of the Visigoth building are integrated into the first section of Abderraman I. The great Mosque consists of two different areas, the patio, where the minaret stands (under the Renaissance tower), the only intervention by Abd al- Rahman III, and the prayer hall. The interior space is arranged on a concert of two-color columns and arches with great chromatic effect. There are five areas into which the site is divided, each of them corresponding to the different extensions carried out.

A very interesting place to visit while in Cordoba, Spain. The interior of this cathedral/mosque really shows the unique mixture of Islamic and Catholic, which definitely speaks about the story that happened in this place. The iconic red and white arcs that you can find everywhere in this building are very eye-pleasing, and photogenic too! In the centre of the building there is also a very beautiful altar and congregation area. You can't miss this place when travelling to Spain. The garden before you enter this building is undeniably beautiful, we came here during winter (December), and the trees were full of vibrant oranges, really can't stop staring at them. There is also a small "town" where you can find some souvenirs and restaurants to eat. Overall, a very unique and beautiful place to come and see!

A must visit in Cordoba and one of great historical significance in light of human, religious, and architectural history. I highly recommend paying for a tour guide with a notable company. My tour guide was solely responsible for my awesome and educational experience. I did not go up the tower as I didn't have time to wait for entry but I'll definitely return one day so I can check out the view from up above. I recommend arriving early though it doesn't take too long to tour the entire mosque cathedral. The surrounding area is very interesting and worth exploring as well. The surrounding cities remind me of parts in the Assassin's Creed game series.

Got to go inside and see amazing Moorish and Renaissance architecture, with some remains of a Visigoth church. The columns seem to go on and on, and there’s a harmonious blend of Islam and Christian symbolism. The Catholic architecture is stunning. Highly decorative and light shines through at 17:00 when I was there. There are so many remnants of its Islamic past. The courtyard of the orange trees, the moorish style gates, the mihrab. I’m so glad we are still able to view this relic of the past and instead of the Christians removing its Islamic aesthetic, they decided to keep it with the church. This creates one of the most unique architectural structures in Spain. If you only do one thing in Cordoba, it’s this. Just one of the most beautiful buildings that you must visit on a trip.

This is one of the more beautiful and interesting buildings in Spain. The textures and decorations that blend the Muslim and Christian places of worship are gorgeous. Red and white double arches will follow you everywhere inside. In the rear as you enter you'll find lots of exhibit, treasures on display, and side rooms. The main pews are in the center and surrounded by fine details you'd expect in a world class church. It's a must visit, buy a ticket in advance.

The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba left an indelible mark on my heart. This enchanting monument is a true testament to the seamless integration of Islamic and European Catholic architecture, creating an atmosphere that is both spiritually captivating and historically rich. The craftsmanship within the cathedral is nothing short of extraordinary. Every corner holds a treasure trove of precious items and icons, each telling a story of dedication and artistic brilliance. The meticulous handcrafting evident throughout the cathedral adds an authentic touch, making the experience all the more immersive. The central church, with its awe-inspiring presence, stands as a symbol of the harmonious coexistence of diverse cultural influences. Walking through the intricate archways and marveling at the intricate details, I found myself in constant amazement. In all my travels, I've never been as profoundly impressed by a monument as I have by the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. It's not just a building; it's a living testament to the beauty that emerges when different cultures converge. A must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of history, art, and spiritual wonder.

Unlike other cathedrals, which are always solemn, the lighting was very good and the air circulation was good, so it sometimes felt like a museum. I was impressed by the combination of different religions and cultures.

The Mosque Cathedral in Cordoba was a stunning mix of Moorish and Catholic history and architecture. Start with a walk around the outside and see the stunning doors. So much variety. Enjoy the courtyard before you go in and be stunned by the size and ornamentation inside. Truly amazing. A complete review on the RetiredAndTravelling blog post.

Fantastic former mosque changed into katholic Church. The €11 entry per adult is absolutely worth it. You can easily spend an hour indoors to explore. Definitely also book the bell tower too directly. We didn't make it because we didn't know about it and when we came back to book it was booked out for the day. The bell tower must give a great overview of Cordoba. We will definitely come back!

If your a history lover this place is to be added to your list, this architectural marvel has gone from being a mosque to church to then a cathedral with its giant minaret turned church bell tower to its Islamic columns inside next to giant catholic relics and symbols all harmoniously blending together. Stepping inside was a moment of peace you can’t describe, the place is absolutely stunning with tall ceilings and proper lightning inside to set a mood. The green courtyard is spacious and has a water feature to take pics. This place is not to be missed I feel blessed to have witnessed this important piece of Spanish history.

The Cordoba Mezquita is an architectural marvel that left me awe-inspired. Its intricate blend of Islamic and Christian influences is a testament to the rich history it holds. The mesmerizing arches and ornate details create a serene ambiance, perfect for contemplation. Walking through its vast prayer hall felt like stepping back in time. The vibrant courtyard with its lush gardens adds to the tranquil atmosphere. A must-visit for anyone seeking a glimpse into the past and an appreciation for exquisite craftsmanship.

The Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba is an awe-inspiring place steeped in rich history. Upon entering, you are immediately captivated by the distinct design features left behind by all those who once conquered this magnificent venue. Though now predominantly a cathedral, it gracefully preserves a significant portion of Islamic influence, resulting in a captivating blend of both Christian and Islamic heritage. The remaining Islamic structures are a sight to behold, exuding absolute beauty and making the ticket price well worthwhile. Don't miss the opportunity to ascend the bell tower, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Córdoba city. The vantage point allows you to observe the sprawling old city and truly grasp its vastness. To fully grasp the significance of the Mosque-Cathedral, consider either booking a guided tour or using a self-guided tour headset, as they offer in-depth explanations of each aspect during your exploration. Relying solely on a map might leave you feeling overwhelmed. Take pleasure in exploring the external gardens without any additional cost; they offer a tranquil space for reflection. Tickets for the bell tower are an additional attraction, and I highly recommend experiencing it, especially after traveling all this way. Keep in mind that if you plan to visit both the cathedral and the bell tower, book the tower tickets at least an hour before or after your cathedral visit. Unfortunately, exiting the cathedral and re-entering later is not allowed. Parking can be challenging, as there is no direct parking available nearby. Opt for one of the various paid car parks, and be prepared to walk approximately 15 minutes. Alternatively, free parking can be found further away on the surrounding residential streets, though the walk to the Mosque-Cathedral will be longer. After your enriching visit, take the time to explore the charming local town, offering a plethora of quaint cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, and picturesque cobbled streets. Overall, the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba is a must-visit attraction that will leave an indelible impression on anyone exploring the beautiful city of Córdoba.

Really neat example of Morish architecture, such an amazing place to visit. You really have to take the time to explore and look over every wall and ceiling panel as it is different and amazing all over. There are even Roman artifacts inside from their occupation of the region. This is a must see if you are anywhere in the area.

Amazing location, at first I thought it's expensive for what there is to see. But nonetheless it's worth a visit for sure (tickets can be bought at the machines for 11 euros fee). Inside there is a mix of cultures and religions. Very interesting architecture and styles. Don't underestimate the size!

It’s hard to overstate the beauty of this place. It has been largely restored but the history and remaining artifacts are worth the trip. We did a self-guided tour, tickets are €11 per person and I recommend buying online, the queue for tickets was already pretty long just a few minutes after the gates opened at 10:00. Within an hour the place was packed, so I recommend getting there as it opens to get some decent pics before it gets crowded. The parking garages are all full by noon also.

Córdoba. Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba. Must see the item when visiting Cordoba! A huge, the brightest, majestic, and unique architectural monument! The huge mosque was rebuilt into a temple. Visited in January 2024. Quite crowded. It is better to book tickets in advance. The entrance fee is 13 euros. Please use the official website. Reference is below. You may order an audioguide (EUR 4) or a special soft to your mobile phone (EUR 3.50). The link will be given directly in your ticket, which will be sent to you by email. It is very interesting to see this Masterpiece of Architecture https://www.mezquita-cordoba.com

This is a fascinating structure that used to be a mosque during the Muslim reign in Andalucia and now it is used as a cathedral. As someone who has always been fascinated by Andalucian culture and Spain in general, this was a long-awaited visit for me and I absolutely loved the monument. I am giving 2 stars purely for my experience with the tour and audio guide; I paid for the tickets online and also paid seperately for an audio guide in order to ensure that I understand the story of the place properly while looking at each element. It was very disappointing that the monuments were not labeled with numbers at all; which meant that we have to figure out which monument is being talked about on the audio guide while the narrator is telling the story. At one point, my audio guide got frozen and I was not able to use it at all. Very disappointing experience for a visit I am paying for; given that I paid separately for the audio guide that barely functioned, the guide was not worth the € 4 at all. I hope you take the feedback to improve the experience of your future visitors, this fascinating structure deserves a much better experience.

This place is definitely awesome and authentic. It was my second visit with parents, and it was not busy although seemingly a lot of people by the yard and the entry process was uncomplicated with digital ticket QR code. But is it worth the €13 price tag? As a visitor who visited around 40 minutes admiring the architecture and intricate arts with some photos, but will forget the history anyway, I think €13 is not worth it in my opinion. Some visitors who would get value from history and spending time studying the arts & architecture. But not for a regular visitor like me.

Córdoba mosque was a wonderful place to visit, the architecture is phenomenal and breathtaking, the sense of serenity and the vibes in the Mosque-Cathedral is nostalgic. We visited in December so weather was great, the monument wasn’t crowded and there is a plenty of space outside to walk around and enjoy the outside view.

It’s an amazing piece of art or “many pieces” actually, as it was built and expanded during many centuries. Get the guided tour, so you can learn about the amazing history of this place. It takes about 1,5h and is enough to see every important part of it and to admire the so many different architecture styles.

A must see holy site for anyone visiting Andalucia. This was the most memorable experience we had of all the wonderful places we visited when touring this part of Spain. A mix of architectural styles and cultures with such a colourful history. A Christian site then a gradually expanding mosque until captured by Christian forces. The colours and precision of the mosque interior are stunning, set against the contrasting ornate Cathedral. Outside the main building are gardens to wander around and to pause to contemplate the beauty of the whole building.

The architecture of this place is unparalleled. It's a huge space inside with a pleasant garden too, and it's worth the entrance price. I skipped the guided tour so I missed the history side, but there's plenty to read on your own. With that said, it took me just under an hour to get round everything, so don't make this your sole activity of the day.

Fantastic experience! the entrance fee is 20 euro and you will be given a time when you can enter the cathedral. You can spend as much time as you like. Both the Muslim part and the Catholic part of the structure are impressive in their own right, but the courtyard in front to f the temple is also impressive and should not be treated as an afterthought. It will take you at least an hour to properly tour the cathedral. If you visit on Sunday you will be asked to leave before the first mass begins, which I believe is at noon.

Amazing place which you must see. The mosque must have been really beautiful and enormous. Unfortunately the cristians destroyed it building the cathedral inside and putting holy pictures and sculptures everywhere. It looks strange to see a cross in such a temple, but this place is definitely something that you will not see anywhere in the world - mosque and Christian church in one. For me stunning! We bought tickets online in advance, but it was possible also to buy tickets on the spot. It is worth going to the bell tower, but you have to buy tickets online in advance as there are not many.

Absolutely stunning. Exquisite architecture, carvings in stone, wood and more. A fascinating and “must see” place to visit. Very interesting historically and much larger than it seems from the outside so give yourselves a good hour or more. Also worth getting tickets for the Bell Tower. Fabulous views - and you get up close to the enormous bells themselves. We were there as soon as it opened and didn’t have to queue for tickets. All very easy.

Amazing monument harmoniously combining Muslim and Christian architecture, symbolism, and prayer halls. We were hugely impressed with the building and the history. This building was a church, then became a mosque, and was then converted to a cathedral. But the construction and architecture revealed the three periods even today. Especially beautiful was the coexisting of mosque and cathedral right next to each other, with the cathedral mostly covering the heart and highest part of the Mezquita, while the mosque sits around that. We spent maybe two hours here.

Dear readers, you don’t have to be an architect to appreciate the innovative design of this site…as you enter the gate into the beautiful courtyard, I imagine the people coming to pray, with water flowing beneath their feet to perform ablutions…and then entering the mosque to worship…it’s beyond stunning….the columns that seem to continue forever, almost give the impression there’s a mirror, but no, it’s just that immense and grand…you can’t but feel humbled…then to be in the middle where the church lies, you almost forget you are surrounded by a mosque…I wish all religions can be at peace worshiping under one roof so freely…it’s a great example, even though it wasn’t intended that way initially…many fought for this place…I’m grateful it stood the test of time. Book a tour, it’s full of history…walk around at night, it’s lit so beautifully

The architecture of this place is breathtaking, a perfect fusion of finesse and true art. However, the entrance price, set at 18 euros, seems high to me for a visit that lasts barely 30 to 50 minutes. It is also regrettable that there is not a space where one could sit and have a drink while contemplating the history that is being revealed, witness to the end of the Islamic era in Spain. Despite these drawbacks, this site remains an essential visit.

The Islamic architecture of the Mosque- Cathedral is stunning thanks to the foresight of the Umayyad dynasty of al-Andalus and especially Abd al-Rahman I who founded the mosque in 785. The Great Mosque of Cordoba represents a unique artistic achievement due to its size and the sheer boldness of the height of its ceilings. The thousand year old mosque-cathedral is definitely worth to pay a visit. The price of thirteen euros per person is not Overly pricy. So k recommend going with a tour guide, although not super necessary.

A Cathedral inside a Mosque! This is an incredible building, I'm not sure there is anywhere quite like it in the world. The internal architecture is incredible. Column and arch after column and arch, all surrounding the cathedral church. Get a guided tour, it really helps. We did this as part of a 4 hour tour of the mosque cathedral, Jewish quarter and Alcazar Palace and gardens. If you book the tour, book an early one, so the building is quiet. By mid afternoon you're going to be turned away.possibly.

Truly one of a kind. One of the most unique examples of architecture and history in all of Spain. Highly recommend a visit. It is within about a 20 minute walk from the train station. Would buy tickets a week or more in advance as times can fill up. Plan to spend at least an hour and a half here, or more if you like to read. One of my favorite attractions I've seen in my travels!

Truly amazing. It has amazing nooks, intricate carvings, a variety of architectural and design styles, interesting history, and an absolutely large (though not necessarily tall) floor plate. We Prebooked tickets and no real wait to enter. Inside they do have a small sign with QR codes to different language PDF guides, which really recommend if seeing independently as there are few to no signs inside. They also have a small treasures section in the back we almost missed - it’s only 2-3 rooms but really pretty. Note you can go through the main courtyard for free so able to see the exterior architecture, but really do recommend the inside too! I feel as though my one 45-60 minute visit wasn’t enough - I was more appreciating the size and variety of architecture/history, but need a second visit to better look at the detailed art, carvings, chapels (and more) throughout.

Known locally as Mezquita-Catedral , the great mosque of Córdoba is one of the oldest structures still standing from the time Muslims ruled Al-Andalus. The iconic red and white arches , the forest of columns and the interplay of light filtering through the intricate lattice work were nothing short of amazing. True testament of the skill and vision of it's creators during that time. I highly recommend checking the opening hours and planning accordingly as it can get crowded. Nevertheless, this place is a must visit for anyone interested in history, architecture or simply seeking a deeply moving encounter with the past.

A place with great history and learning. There are evening shows which are highly recommended. Unfortunately no video and picture is allowed in evening show as it is for ticket buyers only and is totally understandable. The day time one can take pictures. Must visit spot.

I did not get a chance to go inside but I know tickets are €13. The outside is still so cool to walk around & explore. This place is enormous & it’s so crazy to think that architecture like this was done in the past without technology & still standing today. The town is also known for their bitter oranges here & has a mini orange tree in the middle courtyard. Would definitely recommend visiting! And it’s also right next to the bridge where games of thrones was shot apparently.
