This is not the main market hall of Helsinki, and you should consider visiting the main one or the market square near the Esplanade park and the harbour first. Having visited several food and market halls before, ie the Melbourne, Tokyo and the Swedish ones, this place felt a little underwhelming for reasons I can't really put into words. It feels like it lacks a certain character and soul, like a paler version of how market halls are supposed to be. It feels slightly bland and sanitised, despite the different stalls found here. Not their fault though, as there were different stalls selling different items, just that don't have too high an expectation of a bustling market hall when visiting.

The market is large with two floors with all kinds of items, fresh food and selling items that S market and K market do not have. Mainly the customers here are locals. There are also garments for sale and you can fix leather here The location is easy to find right next to the Hakaniemi metro

Excellent market. But under rated with tourists but you can find everything here without being packed with tourists. This is where locals go. Shops are nice, people friendly.

Great market. You can get all meat and fish fresh. Also veggies fresh. Now it's summer and we have some spots outside for a sip of coffee and just hang out with friends ..

I like the new concept Urban&Local, great way to introduce new small businesses and keep things interesting! I was hoping more visuals than plain white and kept wondering the face of their products (stronger brand image) as many were organic and locally produced, should let customers know. Very good customer service in AM HERKUT ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The market is now back in its original location but I miss the temporary market which was more spacious and lifted the experience of shopping, browsing and exploring while retaining the classic market hall heritage. The renovated market is too compartmentalized, white, has too many spotlights and gives a sterile feeling. At the same time, it get catastrophic as the rows and lanes feel narrow. Sounds reverberate alot when we visited in the evening giving echoes all around. Not sure how things will be at peak hour when the market is full of people.

Beautiful indoor market that was clearly renovated recently. Not only is the market beautiful itself but it is easily located to buses, trams, and the metro. I highly recommend visiting and checking out the awesome local shops.

Recently renovated, with nice spots to stop and enjoy some local cuisine and produce. I, for one, really like the smoked fish so this is from where I get it.

I was looking for a local market place - arts and crafts. You can find arts and crafts here. They closed most of stores at 4 pm and the rest at 5 pm. We only were able to walk through. People sell their local crafts - wool socks, jams, etc. You can get a cup of coffee and cake, tomato soup but you need to be there earlier. Nice place.

Nicely renovated recently and is now filled with small stalls selling meat, vegetables, and seafood. Upstairs has vendors selling handcrafted goods and souvenirs. There are also restaurants that serve coffee, food, and drinks. A good place to visit for lunch or to buy your dinner ingredients. You need to pay for the toilets but they are clean and well maintained. There is an underground tunnel to the metro station so little rain won't harm either.

Highly clean place despite its a market with fresh products. The market is pretty small with very nice boutiques inside. It's a must place for tourists in Helsinki.

It's a market located in a newly renovated building in Helsinki. It's a one-stop destination where you can find everything you need in Helsinki. The market offers a great selection of delicious food and a wide variety of crafts and souvenirs. One of the best parts is that everyone speaks English, making it convenient for international visitors.

Wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, sweets, meat and fish. There are cafes inside to have break or lunch. Prices are not cheap, but ut is only one place where I found fresh dorada in Helsinki. Taste was good and definetly will go next time.

I imagined it as a traditional market but it turned out to be a quite nice market in a modern building. We had a very good tomato based salmon soup there.

Lovely food market with tons of fresh fish, baked goods and things from this city, like post cards, souvenirs, tee, coffee, and many more. We liked the clean vibe it had, everyone is friendly and we bought the cheapest cinnamon buns there with the best quality, better than Ekberg and the ones from the supermarket. We bought 2 cinnamon buns for 4,80 Eur 🌟 and they were super chewy and yummy.

Modern style market place. Outside the building is nice cafeteria KahviSiskot. You should try crepes, salt or sweet.

This is a quant mix of flee market and food market. It is an interesting place to visit. The food selection is wide and good. I like the quality of the food and the advice you get from the food sellers. Worth a visit and re-visit. :-)

Great place and far better than the market hall in the city center. This place has a lot to offer but more importantly it's all authentic Finnish products (and some other European stalls such as an Italian one). None of their things were made in China - like one would find around the world. We bought several things from here including some silk/woolen wear, gloves/socks, ate our meal here and got some pastries too. Would highly recommend visiting this place if you're fond of markets - and certainly pick this one over the central market hall (which had mostly food).

As good as a market square in Helsinki can be. Almost like traditional Finnish Tori. You need to have a coffee with bun. And buy new potatoes. And strawberries. And visit the new market hall, which is really good. Best fish and meat in Helsinki (Finland?).

Went here several times on my trip. I thought it had a better selection than the Market Square hall downtown, and all of the food is arranged so beautifully. The pastry place to the right of the front door was my favorite - delicious latte and the BEST cardamom pastry I’ve had. Lots of great vendors with unique products if you are shopping for souvenirs or gifts to bring home. This is where I did the most shopping on a two week trip!

Good variety of food stalls, local produce, meats and local crafts. Ate at soups and more and it was delicious

Nice small indoor market, more expensive than supermarket but with quality food. You can even grab a lunch there and eat it on the spot, they have small tables around. The structure of the building is a contemporary one, which scores lower than older buildings like Saluhall in Stockholm, for instance.

  • 4/5 Rachel H. 4 years ago on Google
Sounds like we were at their temporary location next to the original being renovated. This shouldn’t be surprising since the whole city is under construction. Great market but was expecting more. We had delicious food from the shops there!

Well worth it for meat and fish. You'll be able to find stuff that supermarkets don't sell anymore. Great for a coffee and pastry or lunch. For veg and fruits, it's not really worth it: expensive and tasteless. I wonder sometimes where this fruit comes from and who actually selects it. Perfect in its physical appearance, zero in taste.

A very nice, although not crazy big market hall. Recommended especially for the soup place that’s just a fantastic value.

Traditional market, probably only one active that is not for locals. Great to have a breakfast or to get some fresh fish for dinner.
