We absolutely love Semel. First of all, the owner/sandwich maker is the nicest guy ever. He makes sure your 3 minutes experience is always the best. The sandwich itself is packed with flavour. You can wash it all down with a €1 glass of wine.

Small place with a focused menu doing one thing the right way. Tomato, herring and cheese is the way to go. More than the food, the owner is super friendly. Ensured we understood the menu (he spoke good English!), before we sat down he poured us a glass of wine (€1 a pop, bargain!)

Delicious, seasonal sandwiches that hit the spot and set you back just 4€ (and 1€ for a cup of house wine to wash it down). Super cute little place with four stools next to the counter where you order from the chalkboard menus. Right across from Sant’Ambrogio market, a bustling side of Florence that shouldn’t be missed. The owner/sandwich-maker is the most charming, polite Florentine man ever.

The best panini I have had in Florence. I moved here a month ago and still have not found a better place. I recommend the roast pork, tomato, and spice panini.

Great sandwiches, especially if you wash it down with a glass of wine.

We got the roast pork and tomato sauce sandwich, and the artichoke and meatball sandwich (both were good but we liked the meatball one was better). The bread was very tasty and we had 1 euro house wine. Highly recommend, very friendly service.

Delicious panino and an incredibly nice owner. The place is tiny but charming. The options all sounded great and I went for the boar and polenta panino, given it was only €4 I would definitely recommend here. You will have to keep your eyes peeled to spot it though.

Really delicious sandwiches and really nice owners! Not super cheap (€4 for a small sandwich), but they're really good and the small place is quite charming.

The place serves perfect panini for an ok price (4€ plus 1€ for the vine). Really nice owner which prepares every sandwich fresh on order.

Rarely in my life has something that looked so simple tasted so utterly perfect. The sheep cheese + pear + truffle was a subtle revelation. The Pork belly and spiced tomato was a fist of flavour. Just so highly recommended I cannot stress it enough. Read more: bittermansguide.com

A can’t miss whether living in or visiting Florence. Tiny place to grab an innovative and great tasting 5€ sandwich with southern exposure (on a day with sun, an even more fantastic place to be) to watch the activity at the Sant’Ambrogio market. Wash down your sandwich with one or more 1€ glasses of white or red wine. I love Semel. You will be taken care of by the owner. A really mice guy.

Ordered a Chicken Parmigiana and got two slices of bread with a soggy tomato sauce, some eggplant, and not a single bit of chicken. It was very disappointing.

Very good experience! Been here a couple times already because of the great traditional food. They recommended me the Bread with tomatoes, green herbal sauce and pork! Really tasty and the owners were two friendly and authentic guys!

If you don't eat here at least once, you are missing out. Wish I would have stopped by here earlier in my trip! First off, the owner is a very friendly and classy gentleman! Very small place but he works with a shirt and tie on! The sandwiches are amazing! We went twice and my wife had the pork, tomato and spicy sauce twice. I had it once and then the chicken sandwich. Wish I lived here.
