I’m vegan for over 7 yrs and I’m a chef myself so there’s no way I would give a place a bad review unless the experience was bad. It was my first day and my first meal in Florence. I am extremely disappointed with the service in this place after reading so many wonderful reviews. Bad luck I guess. We were welcomed by a very cold person at the front desk. She was so careless that she left us waiting and didn’t give us an update if we could take a table or not. She guava us the menu and just left. I haven’t experienced such an extremely cold service in all of Italy in my travels over the years. All our requests and smiles were discarded, and the worst part, the food we ordered was so average and the service was so bad and unwelcoming that we ate in a hurry and left. We didn’t order deserts or coffee although we were looking forward to all that in our first meal in Florence! The meal was expensive for the quality, size and portion.

I’ve never given a bad review to any spot we’ve ever been to but here we are… The place is cute but the service we received was just so discriminating that I feel it’s necessary that I review this spot. The lady who handles reservations is just plain rude, their website mentions nothing about reservations being required (& neither is it recommended) so expecting people to just know that this is a must if you’re visiting is just absurd. Like come on - do you want people to dine at your spot, or no? Considering this place is in Florence, please - put this on your website or at least be nice when folks come up & ask if there’s any availability. The place was empty when we showed up & we stayed for a drink, not a single person walked through the door that had a res. Lady at the front desk was nice to most people that spoke Italian (or knew them) but was so rude to us. We had a glass of wine, the guy who served us wine was nice & super accommodating. He was so kind & we could tell that he sensed the weirdness. Can’t say anything about the food b/c we didn’t even get the chance to. Lady at the front desk who handles reservations, if you’re reading this - please be better about how you handle reservations and quit being so uptight and rude. Maybe you’re racist? Or maybe you’re just not the nicest persona? If you REQUIRE reservations, put it ON your website. It’s that simple.

Visited this vegetarian restaurant for lunch. The food was quite good as I had the tasty and generous plate of rice with vegetables. I tasted my dinning companion tortellone with Gorgonzola and it was quite good. We also had the oven baked sweet potatoes, all of it quite tasty. As the restaurant was quite busy I am assuming it impacted the service, there was an issue with the kitchen and our dishes were brought in the wrong order (we had the mains before the starters) and we also received a wine different from what we had ordered. Nonetheless this is a great place for veg food. It also has a fun coffee and library section.

The tastiest and most elegant vegetarian food in a calm and relaxing setting. Surrounded by cookery books and wine we had the tasting menu of three dishes. There was so much choice and everything was perfect.

This is our second visit to this restaurant and we are so glad we came back after 4 years. We had a lovely meal, a family of 4, 2 teenagers. It was delicious just need to reserve. Since last time they have expanded too adding a bar area. We love the tranquility and ambiance of the space as you step from the touristic bustle of Florence. Food was just so delicious. 2 of us took the 18 euro menue other 2 just a meal. Great combo and we got to try most of the dishes. You won’t be disappointed 🌺

One of the best vegetarian places I’ve ever tasted. It is a 10/10 in terms of quality, quantity, diversity of options and on top: the place is a super cute library with a little terrace and a great indoor setting. Personnel was incredibly nice and gentle so it is a must visit if you’re in Florence ♥️ Make sure you book in advance!

This was a hidden gem for us. Highly recommend. We tried to get a spot during lunch without reservations and somehow got it and I won’t recommend going without one. Go for the plate which comes with 3 options to get a variety of food.

We were so looking forward to try a nice vegetarian place on our one day tour in Florence, this place was recommended by our hotel concierge. But then the train we took was supposed to arrive Florence at 1310 had a technical problem. We couldn't find a taxi for almost half and hour after getting off the train which was 30 min delay. 😢 By the time we arrived the area, we googled and again couldn't find Brac... The reason was there isn't any clear sign of the restaurant name, we passed by and missed the entrance. When we finally found the place, it was 3pm already... The lady at the front desk told me that I can only have a drink here but not food coz kitchen is closed at 3pm. When I tried to explained what a bad day had and all the efforts we made to get here, she seemed not interested to listen at all and just coldly said to me "I'm sorry but you can only have drinks here. Kitchen will be opened again at 7pm." So I think I have to tell all my fellow foodies on Google, their opening hours on the website is somewhat misleading. On the site it shows business hours starts at 10am to 12am? But actually foods will not be available at certain hours just like other Italian restaurants. We don't even mind to just stay and have a drink if only we felt welcomed and the staff member to be more kind to customers. ☹️☹️☹️

Don't know what kind of vegan/ vegetarian restaurants the five star reviewers have been frequenting in order to give this place such high accolades but they can't be good. Worst restaurant of its kind we've ever been to. Very rude and controlling staff who obviously have no idea what it means to welcome people. We were made to feel like an inconvenience in a half empty lacklustre vibeless restaurant because we didn't have a reservation (nowhere did it say we needed one) and we were repeatedly reminded we could only have the table for an hour. We also weren't aware that we had to prove we had half decent listening skills or be tested on our comprehension. Huge vegan chips on shoulders here and I'm not talking the tasty fried kind. Food was average to bland with little seasoning and old-time vegan dryness. If this is the best Florence can offer vegans and veggies, it has drastically failed. I agree with a previous one star review - don't come here!

Went last night, absolutely amazing. As a vegetarian it’s sometimes difficult to find interesting places in Florence where you can have a lot of option! Brac has a lot of great ingredients and an amazing seasonal menu! Definitely check it out, but a reservation is needed :)

Fantastic vegan food, in myself and my partner’s opinion the best food we have ever had in Italy. A wide range of vegan options and good wines. Highly recommend the €20 euro plate. Sauces and ingredients were amazing and put together so well. Staff were kind and the bookstore itself was very interesting and well decorated.

Most exquisite vegetarian food we’ve ever had. Every dish had unique flavor, from seitan with curry sauce to eggplant roll ups. I hope to go back before we leave!

Very lovely meal I had. This is a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Service was excellent and staff were very attentive. Seated and finished in 1 hour. Had the €18 special with one salad, pasta/rice dish and special. Really good food would recommend. Drinks are reasonably priced. Entrance to the restaurant was not as expected but super fun being located within a bookshop, and the restaurant seating behind located towards the back. Overall highly enjoyable experience.

Absolutely delicious - really rich in flavors. The three of us (1 vegan, 1 vegetarian, 1 omnivore) each ordered the dinner tasting menu, giving us 9 separate dishes. All of them were really lovely, presenting wonderful and different combinations of flavor and texture. Nothing was overly complex or over the top - it was all about flavor. We eat at a fair number of vegan/vegetarian restaurants, and we all cleaned our plates and agreed that Brac was a hit. And the bookstore setting was very pleasant, the service was friendly and warm, and the prices were very reasonable. Brac was a hit with my family!

The food was very tasty and there is a large vegetarian selection. We got a seat even without a reservation during the week. BUT we waited longer for the drinks and the food came after an hour. The service was very unfriendly. This started with the seating and continued with the ordering.

The place we went to for our first meal as an engaged couple! I had been here before (2016) and the restaurant and food quality continues to astound. Amazing hidden gem and for better prices than your average restaurant in other cities.

We walked in for dinner after a recommendation from google maps. How great did that recommendation turn out to be! This is a beautiful cafe, wine shop, bookshop and restaurant serving wonderful vegetarian and vegan food including starters, mains and desserts. The decor is peaceful, pleasing on the eye and transports you to a calm place after the madness of touristic Florence. You are instantly surrounded by a curation of amazing books on different topics. The cafe serves wine, cakes, teas and coffees and in the evening the restaurant puts on a feast and you can see baskets full of the fresh vegetables they are cooking with displayed proudly next to the kitchen. The waitresses know the wine menu back to front and with a rotating selection of wines are well placed to help you decide what to drink. The menu is clearly labelled with what is vegan and what is vegetarian and you’ll be sure to find something to please both vegans and people who usually eat meat from the veggie selection. If you cannot decide what to eat you can have the option of a mezze plate with dishes selected from each of their menu sections. The desserts consisted of a number of different cakes which were fresh, home made and delicious. I would love to come back here for a meal again and thoroughly recommend it to everyone!

Almost didn’t want to post this and keep it a secret. Beautiful place. Motto: wine, food and books. Amazing atmosphere with great wine selection, jazzy music and comfortable seating. Beautiful and small book selection. Drinks and coffee is what I had, can’t comment on the restaurant.

We tried their small vegan burgers and they were very tasty. The café itself is quite pretty. Highly recommended for vegetarians and vegans.

We went to Brac on our first evening in Florence and what a great way to start our trip. The staff was very kind, friendly and relaxed, the vibes were great. The place looks lovely and the food is delicious (vegan). We wish we went there one more time during the stay, that's how good everything was.

Food is fantastic, lots of vegan options. Get the combo plate to try everything. Food took a little while to come out, and portion sizes aren't massive, but it's still well worth it Kitchen closes from 3pm-7pm

Definitely one of the highlights of our food experiences in Florence! Amazing vegetarian food and great vegan options! Really creative approach to how much food you can order, innovative flavours, relaxing atmosphere and great service!

  • 5/5 Josh L. 7 months ago on Google
Delicious and creative vegan food (though it’s not all vegan). We got the combination plates, but in retrospect we should have ordered individual dishes. The salads were the least exciting and we wanted more of the pastas and main dishes.

Amazing experience for vegan food lovers. High quality food options, you can tell that it took a lot of time and effort to reach these flavors. The quantity of some plates might seem little at first but it was MORE than enough! Not only tasty but also fulfilling. Also, nice atmosphere and good service. Make sure to reserve first, they are often fully booked.

This was truly a great experience! Light and healthy lunch options, a nice change from a typical Italian restaurant. It is easy to miss from the street if you're not a local though.

Delicious vegan veggie restaurant in Florence. Super cute courtyard and good for lunch vibes I’d say. We went for dinner which was still nice. I recommend the trio of dishes where you choose three out of each course. I got the seitan curry, pesto potato salad thing and the ginger potato tortellini. All were lovely. Really delicious tasty unique foods and high quality. My partner got the spinach vegetarian lasagne which he really enjoyed Great service too. Thank you!

Not vegan/vegetarian, so by no means an expert. But this place was so cool (very small tho) and the food was super tasty! This has to be one of the best available restaurants for those seeking this option. Highly recommend making a reservation.

Super lovely place to sit and read! I went during Saturday afternoon and it was super nice and quiet. The atmosphere is very warm and cozy, also loved the wide selection of books available (though I brought my own). Loved the huge glass of caffe latte they served so much! Will definitely return for their food!

The best food we ate in Florence! We had the Piatta Unico for €18 which was a steal! Every dish was delicious and portion sizes were large. The wine was beautiful and paired nicely with the food. We felt so full but had to order a desert to share because we knew we would regret not trying a sweet option from them. And we were right, the cheesecake was outstanding. Beautiful atmosphere and lovely staff. Couldn’t recommend more.

Best cafe/restaurant I have been to in a while. Interiors are beautiful, lots of books (mostly Italian), a central courtyard and intimate space for lunch/dinner. I had ordered Seitan and Ravioli, Seitan was too good! Make sure to reserve ahead.
