The Antico Ristoro di Cambi in Florence - a charming spot with a potential twist for tourists. A tale of two steaks, it seems. If the murmurs are to be believed, our Italian-speaking friends at the next table received this holy grail of meats, the true T-bone, while the tourists - oh, the unsuspecting tourists - were served something a little less... T-bone-y? A regular steak masquerading as the Bistecca Alla Fiorentina! The audacity! The cheek! The... surprisingly common tourist trap? The Antico Ristoro di Cambi, with its rustic charm and whispers of yesteryears, seems to be playing a game of culinary masquerade. To the tourists flocking here I say: keep your eyes wide, your Italian phrasebook handy, and perhaps, just perhaps, point to the next table when ordering your Bistecca Alla Fiorentina. Who knows? You might just receive the legendary T-bone cut, complete with its steak and filet mignon sides, a culinary masterpiece worthy of Michelangelo himself. Or, you know, just a regular steak. Either way, buon appetito!

Our most enjoyable restaurant experience in all of Italy. Very nice location away from the crowds and touristic spots. Prompt service and accommodating when asked to change tables. Seemed to be mostly locals eating which is always something I try to watch for when traveling abroad. Florentine steakhouses are in their own special category. There is no comparison as to what you find in the very high end American steakhouse where the costs are exorbitant and the flavor pales in comparison. We had the 1KG Florentine which sounds like a lot and by all standards it is. However, beyond just the flavors, it is feels very light in the mouth like high grade sushi cuts. It’s a very satisfying amount without the feeling like you’ve overindulged. Served with small chips of rock salt, when 2-3 are added to each piece, it blends perfectly and not a bit overpowering. It has a nice sear and a taste of light smoke. I paired it with the house Chianti which added another enjoyable layer to the flavor profile. To say our experience was memorable is an understatement. Recommended with the utmost enthusiasm!!!

Faultless steak, amazingly cooked and flavoured. Great sides. Friendly service. Good prices. Rarely (pun intended) do you have meals like this. Unforgettable. Read more: bittermansguide.com

Personally I believe their florentine steak is one of the best in the city; great atmosphere and nice services. We have dined with them 3 times during our holiday in Florence.

Great experience here! We made a reservation on The Fork app, and we were able to change the time a couple times as well easily. We sat outside on the covered patio which was quite pleasant. We ordered the boar papardelle which was incredible and flavorful. A few varieties of bread were brought out and they were very tasty! The Chianti wine was to die for. Of course we ordered the Florentine steak 🥩 which was brought out for us to inspect. Fun experience. We asked for ours to be cooked just a little bit longer and nobody laughed us out of the restaurant. We ate it with olive oil and extra salt and pepper and it was amazing! Come here for a unique and special dining experience you won’t find in the US.

So good we went twice during our visit in Florence! We tried their Lardo di Colonnata and steak the first time. Both were tasty! No funky smell or taste to it. Just proper good steak and great lard. 1kg of steak was plenty for two. The second time we went, we had delicious chicken liver on top of some bread and, each a pasta. Liver had great flavour and were very generous serving. Pasta was also great! Perfectly cooked pasta noodles & meaty yet light sauce. Friendly servers, great ambiance, plenty of locals attending and not just tourists, and I loved seeing how busy they were. We reserved the first time we went but, if you don’t make reservations, you can still get a seat if you arrive before 8PM. It picks up around 8:30PM.

Went here to try a steak fiorentine, while spending the weekend in Florence. The steak was tasty, but half of it was just fat. I understand that there will be fat on the steak, but when half of the non-bone part of the steak is fat, there isn't much meat left to eat!!!! In spite of that, the meat was really good!

A highly recommended place for Florentine steak if you are in town. It is cook to perfection ! Their creame bruhle is also to die for. Bewarn that better share and keep your orders not much to enjoy the steak. We had spinach to go with it, not the potatoes.

We’ve been told that this restaurant serves one of the best Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Having tasted only here, I can’t assure that, but I can definitely say the meat was AMAZING. The whole restaurant is beautiful and it has a lot of space, either outside and inside. We asked pasta with fresh truffles for antipasti, and it was light, delicious and very truffle-oriented - we loved it. The bistecca (1,3kgs) comes rare. Don’t ask it medium or well done as it defies the concept of the whole dish. The steak was so delicious and juicy, and the roasted potatoes are so good and rustic. For the desert, we decided to go for something light, so a couple of mousses with fruits. It was also quite yummy. Also, really advise the beer here if you’re a fan of draft lager beer - very fresh and went well with the meat. Special mention to the staff here - it was, next to other restaurant in Florence, the best customer experience I’ve ever had outside Portugal :) especially the lady in the picture! We really loved the whole meal.

The best steak I've had in Italy. Decided to have the sirloin because the steak Florentine was so huge. It was cooked perfectly and flavor was excellent. The price was also reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area.

A great place to have dinner. Started with the Tuscan cheese and ham. Enjoyed all of the cheeses and they paired well with the jam. Had the tomato bread soup and it was very tasty. Had the penne alla straticalla and it was very good and a nice portion. The fried chicken with fried zucchini was nice, it was a simple but good flavor and the breading was very thin. The beef tenderloin was very tender and cooked well.

Had the Florentine streak and fried artichokes after a local friend highly recommended it. No regrets! It was extremely impressive and perfectly cooked. Lovely experience all around and hope to return when visiting the beautiful city again.

We received a very nice welcome and quick service here. The florentine steak and potatoes are a must! I’m so glad we experienced this delicious restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and tended to us well!

My colleagues from Florence invited me to dinner after work, and we visited the Antico Ristoro di Cambi. The restaurant used to be the city stables, and the interior shows that heritage. The curing hams hanging from the rafters should clue you in that this is probably not the best place if you happen to be a vegetarian. The food was excellent, and the service was fast. We ordered a mixed antipasti platter, which was excellent. For the mains we chose a 1.5 pound Florentine steak to share among the three of us, accompanied by an great Chianti. The steak was exquisite, with crispy, yet buttery fat layer surrounding the rare cooked meat. I will definitely visit this restaurant the next time I am in Florence.

Walking by the restaurant, an hour before it opened for dinner, we knew we were eating there. The vibe was right. Sitting outdoors in their covered space was perfect. Great wine selection! Extensive menu. My filet with truffles was very good. I would definitely return.

Melt in your mouth steak plus nice fried chicken and fried zucchini flowers. Definitely worth a visit. I suggest reservations which can be done from your phone directly on their website.

A delicious meal with Florentino steak! Yes we ate it all and had room for dessert. A Rick Steve’s recommendation that had lots of locals in attendance as well. Reservations are helpful but we were there early and didn’t have them.

A beautiful restaurant with delicious Tuscan food. The restaurant itself is warm, cozy and inviting with a phenomenal staff. The food was outstanding. The Florentine steak is a must have entree. The potatoes were a perfect side dish with a Tuda n bottle of wine.

Place is beautiful and staff are great. We were 2 people and split the Lardo di Colonata to start and also split a Bisecca Fiorentina. Meal comes with homemade bread so we left very full. Both dishes were out of this world. There is bad bistecca Fiorentina out there. This is not one of those places.

I got the salad and a Florentine steak. The steak was nothing special. It wasn't too bad in price but the steak was kinda rough. It was juicy(on the plate) but not much depth in flavor. There is a bit of salt, so it's a nice crust but the meat was still a little tough, maybe even over cooked. The staff is friendly and the wifi is on yhe menu. I like that they open earlier than the other shops. Unlikely to return

Never had such a tender bistecca in my life and at that price point. Have already recommended friends who are visiting Firenze to go. Waiter, Giordano was so friendly and attentive too.

Cozy restaurant with helpful and friendly waiters. Tuscan quality food don't expect to find fine food it’s all homemade. Only flaw was the place where we were seated, 7 people in a narrow table of which 4 sat on a bench.

Enjoyed our first meal while in Florence here, during a national holiday w/everything closed and a thunderstorm overhead. Had a variety of Tuscan appetizers and I the pasta w/wild boar sauce. The staff accommodated our large party despite us having no reservation.

👍👍 You'll always see queues, but they are actually quite fast, so don't stress! They helped us with recommendations.
