This
was
absolutely
the
perfect
stay
at
a
historic
hotel
(previously
a
monastery
in
the
11th
century).
A
special
shoutout
to
Stefano
for
being
especially
accommodating
and
going
the
extra
mile
to
ensure
my
grandfather
(wheelchair)
and
family
would
have
adjoining
rooms.
We
were
upgraded
to
rooms
with
the
best
view
in
the
city
of
the
river,
city
skyline,
and
landmarks
that
was
breathtaking
at
sunset
and
sunrise.
There
were
so
many
extra
nice
touches
to
the
trip
(again
courtesy
of
Stefano)
such
as
wine,
cookies,
fruit,
and
chocolate
that
made
it
more
special.
The
rooms
were
exquisite,
large,
well
furnished,
and
beautiful.
The
staff
were
able
to
add
a
third
smaller
bed
to
each
room
as
well.
Everyone
was
friendly
and
helpful.
The
breakfast
buffet
was
delicious
and
really
had
something
for
everyone:
scrambled
eggs,
mushrooms,
broccoli,
chicory,
ham,
bacon,
sausages,
salmon,
eggrolls,
meats/cheeses,
fruits,
pastries,
yogurt,
bread,
cereal,
juices,
omelet
station,
etc.
The
concierge
and
lobby
staff
were
great
at
getting
us
taxis
and
helping
with
luggage.
The
location
of
the
hotel
is
right
on
the
Arno
river
and
within
walking
distance
of
the
Duomo,
Galleria
dell'Accademia,
Uffizi,
Ponte
Vecchio,
etc.
and
also
around
a
9
minute
walk
from
the
train
station
(or
very
quick
taxi
ride).
There
are
multiple
restaurants,
grocery
stores,
and
gelaterias
near
the
hotel.
We
have
been
to
Florence
twice,
and
will
definitely
be
back
again.
I
highly,
highly
recommend
the
Westin
Excelsior,
which
truly
deserves
its
5
star
rating!
