The room was clean and nice. We had a great view of the water and lots of sun through the windows. The staff is absolutely wonderful and will go out of their way to help you. Breakfast is quite nice and has a good assortment of items. Their laundry service is very reasonably priced and very timely. Our favorite part was our late night chat with the bartender Claudio. This place also has amazing location. It's right on the water with a great view at sunset. It is a few minutes walk from all the big historic and artistic attractions. It is around all the tasteful night life without things being too loud and crazy. There are several great restaurants around and lots of easy to get to shops. A violinist plays right outside and serenades a crowd at night. It's truly great. Some of the poor reviews that I see for hotels are typically about things that us Americans have come to expect. Things like massive rooms, updated but cheap room details and massive mini bars. You have to remember that this is Europe. This hotel is in a historic building. The furnishings are of superb quality. It has that old school feeling with marble and tasteful, quality furniture. Don't let those poor reviews fool you. If you stay here you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed here in 2016 and returned in May 2023. The hotel is in a great location just west of Ponte Vecchio on the north side of the river and an easy walk to all the galleries, churches, and local restaurants. The hotel is immaculate and the staff wonderful. The breakfast buffet is incredible with something for everyone. Thank you Hotel Berchielli for a great stay while in Florence, Cheers

Had an excellent stay very close to shops, restaurants and about 12-15 min walk to the train station. The river is a nice touch and plenty of squares around. Service, breakfast and rooms were very good. Nice nostalgic look and feel for the rooms in this hotel. Air conditioning was just adequate. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Elegant luxury on the Arno! Compared to others nearby, Berchielli was the best for us. Staff went above and beyond expectations! We needed to drop off luggage then return the rental car to the airport and then take the train back to the hotel. Staff helped us with all of this. Parking anywhere on the Arno is difficult, even temporarily for 2-3 minutes. I suggest parking 50 meters back down from the hotel and walking up with your luggage. Otherwise, we had to park on the sidewalk in a very narrow area and cars still honked and beeped and barely got by (and that was in the morning). Expect one way streets and road closures that aren't in Google or your GPS. The rooms, especially the deluxe rooms with river views our large. Our room had two massive windows that we could open and look out -- at least 4'x8' each! Views of the city and the river are spectacular. There was also a large sitting area and a very comfortable king size bed. Lots of pillows. Daily made service, with evening turn down service--they even put little cloths down for your feet so when you step in bed your feet aren't dirty. Take that Ritz Carlton--where they don't even do anything close. Some have complained about heat, but I believe all rooms are equipped with air conditioning. Our A/C worked perfectly and kept us cool even in the hottest part of the day. Breakfast was fantastic. Above and beyond expectations! Everything was delicious and there were so many wonderful choices. The dining area is very elegant. Thank you Hotel Berchielli for making the last few days of our trip fantastic! Recommended? Yes, absolutely. The location is also perfect. Right next to Ponte Veccio and close to the Duomo. Also the gardens are close.

Excellent customer service. I asked the hotel to book a taxi for me for the next morning at 4 am since I had an early flight. They called and learned that there would be a taxi strike so that a taxi would not be possible. This was a huge problem for me since the train would not be running prior to 5 am. They spent all day calling numerous private transfers and drivers trying to book something for me, and they kept me updated along the way. Ultimately it did not work out but they arranged for the hotel manager to shuttle me to the airport -- a life saver! Another instance, a neighboring guest was playing music too loudly late at night. I called them and they took care of the issue within minutes. Request room 611 or any of the ones that are split level with a patio/balcony. It is truly wonderful to have private and quiet outdoor space right in the heart of Florence. Beautiful space and wonderful staff.

Great location right on the water. Easy walk to everywhere and comfortable rooms. I was really impressed with the included breakfast with both traditional Italian and North American options in the buffet. Multiple fresh juices and good coffee as well

A fabulous hotel in a fabulous location. All the main sites were within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were all friendly, efficient and polite. We would happily stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights here in the middle of our Honeymoon and it was an incredible experience as part of our time in Florence. The classic room was spacious and offered a breathtaking view overlooking the river and bridges. Breakfast was lovely and there was a very inclusive gluten free stand. It was a shame that the rooftop bar was closed, but this did not take away from the quality of the location and support of staff.

This was our favorite hotel we stayed in during our trip. The service is truly outstanding! They helped us call a taxi when it was time to leave and carried our luggage to the car for us. The breakfast is delicious, the rooms are gorgeous, and the location can't be beat. We will be back!!

Brilliant location, quite and fairly secure. Full breakfast in an airy and spacious dinning area. Clean suites and friendly staff The downside were the bathroom faucets, so inconvenient and a wet small secondary bathroom which could easily benefit with a shower curtain. The hot drinks station shouldn't be in the single bedroom as it usually is for minors. Strangely enough there are not sign for 'do not disturb and we were disturb twice before the official departure hour. It should not happened.

We loved our stay at Hotel Berchielli. The location is great - pretty much everything you’d want to go to is a maximum 20 minute walk. Our room had a nice view of the river where we watched the sunset. The staff were wonderful as well and the breakfast buffet was great. Highly recommended to friends and family. Thank you for making our Florence trip special!

Shows a classic look. slow aesthetics. It gives the feeling of a trip to the past. The room is rather small and old, but it has the charm of a classic. The atmosphere of the breakfast restaurant and the staff are experienced. The information response is also excellent. The geographical location is right in front of the river, so I am very satisfied.

Best position. 3min walk from Ponte Vecchio. Many rooms have the river view. The hotel is VERY clean. The rooms are classic, very nice and practical. Comfortable bed. Simple shower/bath. Nice breakfast with ample selection. We used their valet service for the car, a bit expensive but worked well. There was some noise in the morning coming from the street: clearly not the Hotel’s fault but I was expecting a better sound proofing. The Receptionists were definitely experienced and professional, but quite cold and not so welcoming. Instead, other members of the staff were very kind and prompt. In summary: a very good hotel, worth staying there when visiting Florence.

Hotel Berchielli is one of my top 5 all time hotel stays. Everything about this hotel was done right. It was a bit of a maze to find things at times, but that comes with old buildings. Our room was remarkable with a picturesque view of the river and a small bathroom balcony looking into the side entrance. The breakfast was marvelous and the staff was kind and helpful. The hotel is located conveniently to make all of the historical Florence landmarks walkable. Nearby, you’ll find some of the best food and drink you’ll ever enjoy. The courtyard was peaceful and offered great views and a fun atmosphere to share a bottle of wine.

This beautiful hotel offers views of Arno River and Ponte Vecchio. It has 4-stars rating and is centrally located in Florence, on the riverfront. You can see Ponte Vechio from it.

This hotel deserves 10 Stars not just five!!! Excellent in every possible way from the staff in every department, the cleanliness and style of the hotel, the accommodations, the food (free breakfast), the welcoming feel, they even use everything Etro toiletries in their bathrooms! Impressive, the size of the rooms, the beautiful architect, honestly there are not enough words to say expressing my gratitude for a wonderful stay:)) I was at your hotel for almost two weeks in May of 2022 and will never go anywhere else to say on my future trips but to your wonderful, elegant and sophisticated hotel with the most outstanding view of the pontevecchio and the Arno river! Thank you for everything everyone and see you soon💕❤️

Highlight of our trip. View over the river, could open the windows and soak in the sights and sounds. Best hotel breakfast buffet I've ever had. Nice staff. Very well priced given the location and amenities.

This hotel was absolutely incredible. The rooms were spacious, nice, clean and our view overlooked the river. The lobby was very nice, we enjoyed hanging out at the bar where the bartender was able to recommend a fabulous restaurant for us for dinner. The breakfast was the best we’ve had in all of Italy (probably because it was more “Americanized” lol). Tons of fresh fruit, yogurt, bacon, juices, toast, croissants, eggs, etc. The location was absolutely unbeatable! 10000/10, especially for the price.

The location and staff at the hotel were fab, the room however were very basic. The shower was uncomfortable, very small baths, when you run the water its very discoloured and looks dirty. The location and interior of the hotel are nice, as is the breakfast selection. But the rooms were disappointing. Purely because there wasn't a good space for doing make up, or styling hair. Not enough plug sockets. The sockets that were there wasnt near the mirror, so i couldn't use my hair straighteners whilst looking in the mirror. I just found the layout very disorganised for women anyway. My husband was a lot easier to please. But the location is great. Sadly, our room looked onto the alley rather than the river outside.

Hotel Berchielli is a lovely traditional Italian hotel. It has an Italian charm paired with excellent staff and the location cannot be beat. The hotel itself has two entrances and kept very well and clean. Breakfast is not as heavy as American Continental Style but they have a good selection to choose from both warm and cold. I had planned to stay the weekend and regret not booking this hotel through the weekend itself. I would definitely stay here again.

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. My mother and I stayed here for 5 days and we loved it. This was our second time staying at the hotel. It’s located near Ponte Vecchio and only a 10 minute walk from the Duomo. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I asked the front desk about where we would be able to get our covid tests done and they quickly called a local pharmacy and scheduled our appointment. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

The location is excellent. It's very close to everything and at night you can enjoy the river view. The staff was very helpful in assisting with dining recommendations and reservations. You could tell they truly had pride in their work. The rooms are traditional in decor but very fitting of the whole vibe of the city and although it's not my personal taste they use quality linens from Frette and hotel amenities are quality items as well. I do wish the bathroom layout allowed for more space to place items as often there wasn’t even room to put extra towels down. The shower location is a bit awkward but it works. I would say if you’re taller and bigger person it might be a bit challenging to maneuver. Breakfast had a good selection of items. A little of everything and everything was kept stocked and fresh. Staff was attentive and very professional. We stayed in room 506. It did not have a view of the river. There isn’t really a window that you can look out of because of the layout. However, there is a door that leads out to a patio that overlooks the interior of the property’s garden and patio. it is nice outdoor space to enjoy. My biggest complaint would be overall cleanliness. It's one thing to have a more traditional style of decor but it's another to smell of it. Our room definitely smelled of it because of the carpet and the worst was the bed. The bed wreaked of sweat, old mattress and something fowl. Since there was the whole bed bug scare going around we did lift up everything to check and make sure. The mattress was clean from debris and any signs of bed bugs but it smelled awful. So awful that it made my clothes and body smell the next morning and I had to take a very thorough shower to get the smell out. It was really late when we went to bed so I was not able to tell anyone until the next morning. They did try to make it better after I mentioned it. However, after the 2nd night the smell was back, not as intense as the first night but it was definitely seeping out again. So whatever they did to remedy the situation was definitely just a band-aide. We also found some hair in the shower. Overall, I would say the overall cleanliness needs work as things were not as clean as you would expect.

Great location. Staff were pleasant. The room however left a little to be desired. If you are booking here just make sure you don't get room 604 as the air con is noisy and when you open the window you are faced with the attached view which is shielding the hotels air conditioning units we think. So you cannot get away from the noise. We were only there for 3 nights but I would have been devastated if it had been for longer. I did request to upgrade and was told the hotel is fully booked however no effort was made to explore whether that was the case for the entirety of our stay. The bar staff were very pleasant and the breakfast options were good. Oh and despite the dodgy room the hotels in Italy appear to ensure they have good beds.

Hotel was beautiful inside, and the servers during breakfast were kind and attentive. That being said the customer service at the counter was TERRRIIBBLLLEEE. They were totally inattentive and at times rude. I did not enjoy my stay based on these interactions, and didn't understand why at times there were four men at the desk but no one was coming to help me or acknowledge I was even standing there. I booked this because I'd heard great things, a shame that experience didn't extend to me. Wouldn't recommend.

I wish I could leave Hotel Berchielli a good review. The location was perfect, but unfortunately the receptionists were extremely rude. There are many friendly people and better places to stay if you don’t want to be greeted by people that are not happy to be working and interacting with the travelers that are excited to be at their hotel -because of the unfriendly receptionists I would not stay here again.

  • 3/5 Alan S. 1 year ago on Google
Good location, with several areas of opportunity. Had a good stay, attributable in a 90% to the location. The hotel is not bad at all, just probably not worth the price, as our room was not really clean and as we were on a first floor had a lot a lot of noise coming in from the city, with no real sound proofing. However, the location couldn't be any better, as you're on a walking distance to anything (even the train station) - so it may be worth considering this. Do not expect high end hotel in amenities (even though the service provided at breakfast and checkin is exceptional) - mostly due not having a feeling of cleanliness and having overall 'vintage furniture' that even if it's nice looking it's not well up-kept or are high quality (irle the beds are not really comfortable)

Just came back home (Madrid) from a 2-night stay at The Berchielli, I had 2 rooms overlooking the Arno. If it weren’t for a very rude staff member, this would’ve been a 5-star review. Pros first: Unbeatable location, clean and comfortable rooms, tasty decor, breakfast options to satisfy all preferences and (mostly) attentive staff. Kudos to the male staff member who checked us in and even got us a reservation at Mangia Pizza (I didn’t even know they took reservations!) and to the bellboys, who were uniformly helpful and courteous. And now the only con: We checked-out early in the morning to go see Michelangelo’s David and informed the reception staff that we would need a taxi to the airports later in the evening, preferably a large one since we were a family of 5. A male reception staff member told us that taxis could not be booked in advance and that we could request it when we returned in the evening. We came back at 6pm to collect our bags and request the taxi, and the same staff member very rudely (without even greeting us or, even worse, replying to “buonasera” or “grazie”), decided to book us two taxis instead of a big one. He didn’t even try to get us a large vehicle. I clearly overheard another staff member telling him that a big taxi would’ve been better, as all 5 of us are family, to which the rude staff member answered something to the effect of “they’re 5 people with luggage, they obviously need 2 taxis!”. That statement is false, as we moved throughout Italy (Firenze included) in big taxis without a problem. He immediately asked the bellhop (in Italian) to take us outside the hotel to wait for the taxi and didn’t even look at us or said a word to us. We said something to the effect of “Grazie, buonaserata”. Again: no look and no reply whatsoever. Finally, both taxis arrived within the next 15 minutes, while we waited for them OUTSIDE the hotel. The above issue may appear minor, as in the end we did get to the airport. However, after paying for 2 deluxe rooms with Ponte Vecchio views and considering the hotel’s good reputation, I expected better customer service, especially at the very end of a wonderful trip to Italy. The attitude of the staff member was unwarranted and unacceptable, and I ended up paying for 2 taxis instead of one for 5 people.

Wonderful place to say! Lovely accommodations, rooms, staff and location. The breakfast spread was great, the patio is a perfect place to spend a few hours here and there. I highly recommend this hotel and have nothing to complain about.

The location is great and the staff is friendly. Lobby is nice and the room is clean. However our standard room was dark and like a dungeon. Even on a bright day with the window open still needed to turn on lights to see. There are better places to stay in Florence for the price even if they might be a little further away from the center.

It was clean, which is always a plus but not sure how hotels are rated these days! We paid for a room with wifi but didn’t get any wifi in the room. The breakfast buffet was great. The rooms are a bit old and dusty.

Charming Hotel Stay: Excellent Service and Location I had a wonderful experience at this charming hotel. Its prime location made exploring the area a breeze. The breakfast was superb, offering a delightful variety of fresh and tasty options. The staff, especially at the front desk, were exceptionally pleasant and helpful, ensuring a comfortable stay. The hotel bar was a cozy retreat, and bartender Max stood out with his informative and friendly service. Highly recommended for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
