Academy hostel is situated at a very good location, not too far from the train station, but most importantly walking distance to all the tourist attractions. This place is super clean, they close the hostel from 11am to 2:30pm to clean. I do understand the need because it's a busy hostel and it would be hard to clean if the guests are there. However, they could explain the rules a bit more nicely. Like the closing is mainly for the common areas only. The staff was still flexible about coming & goings during this time and the reception is manned 24hours. As an example, I was told that I can step out of my single room when the cleaning crew comes. However, while I was out, they only removed the trash in my room, bed was not made and floor was not swept. Overall the common areas are kept very clean. Lockers were provided with padlocks. Room key locked the door. I felt very safe here. The single full bathrooms were a nice plus compared to many people showering all at once in one bathing area. Staff was not too friendly, didn't go out of their way to suggest anything. So I guess they were good enough. However the tall gentleman with a bit lengthy hair was very nice to me. Helped me do my laundry and showed me how to use the machines. I left my backpack in the luggage room, it was untouched. But the receptionist asked me to put my valuables in a small locker & lock it with a key. Overall for 26 euro a night for a single room during off season was a great deal I felt. Breakfast included!

Terrible place and terrible experience! I normally do not like to complain at all. But I have to be honest. Myself and ten of my other friends have stayed here for a weekend for three days and on the first night, we found 5 different bugs crawling on our beds. The rooms and bathrooms are extremely small. The shower was broken. Facilities are super old and need a lot of improvement. So we went downstairs to tell the staffs about the bugs, esp. some of my friends cannot stand bugs in their beds at all. The staffs were quite rude and they did not do anything about it. The next day we decided to change to a different place so we asked our money back for the nights we won't stay. But the staffs insisted that it's their policies and we will not get one cent back and there is no way we can change to different rooms. For the terrible service and the condition of this hostel, 35 Euros per person per night is really not worth it!! My friends and I strongly recommend DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSTEL!! Terrible!

Good cheap place to stay for a night

This was my first hostel stay. I enjoyed it! Front desk guys were super super helpful and nice. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was basic but good. Rooms were very clean and the bed dividers gave a decent amount of privacy. My only recommendation would be to offer chargers near the bed for cell phones and expand the WiFi to reach the corner beds. If I come back to Florence I would definitely stay here again. Very reasonable price for a broke college kid like me

When I pictured a hostal, I imagined a somewhat rundown place with double bunk beds and poor rooms. However, I could have not have been anymore wrong when I walked into this clean place. With multiple floors, there are foods and drinks to be found, the big rooms have air-conditioning and have a decent quality in regards to the toilets and the bedrooms itself. The short rules laid out there are reasonable in allowing minimal noises and I have just enjoyed my stay there overall.

Enough bathrooms, no hot water problems unless you shower at 8 am when everyone does. They sell coca cola, water and beer in lobby which is great, they have a well equipped kitchen.
