Price paid for the hotel is not worth it compared to previous years. It also depends on the room you will get. We will probably not coming back or recommend the hotel anymore. We had a late check-in with no compensation. “We will call you when we are ready. Feel free to go to our restaurant and have a lunch…” In a room on the first floor, the Wireless didn’t work. The air flow of the air conditioner was directly on the bed. There was dust on the side tables. Room with very narrow windows - looked more like a prison. Bathtub with a black spot/rust - damaged. No isolation at all. We could hear the children in the rooms nearby. Previous year, the swimming pool had chairs for sunbathing, where guests could enjoy the experience of the swimming pool. This year, those chairs were removed and now guests have sofas with notices that the chairs should be used for bar consumption. As guests arrive, employees in the swimming pool are focused only on selling drinks - not with the experience. Prices of the drinks seem to have increased 20% vs last year, at least in some items. Swimming pool with steady and dirty water - the water circulation was not working 100% of the time. Gym with 1 defective machine. Toiletries were like an average hotel, at least in our room. The only thing that stayed the same as last year was the excellent breakfast and the employees there, always providing a 5 stars service.

We booked through American Express. The hotel is located in the middle of Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It's odd driving your car through the heavily pedestrian center. Hotel Minerva has in-house valet parking and they took our vehicle after we parked immediately in front of the hotel. The staff is amazing. They greeted us professionally. All the staff appeared well-groomed and stand to your presence. People might not care about this detail but it was very appreciated. In-house breakfast was delicious. Delicately fluffy eggs and all the standard morning foods you could think. The wireless internet was fast. There's an appropriately furnished in-house gym. I was going to use the indoor pool and spa but didn't have enough time to the reservation. My wife and baby were well taken care of as the room's couch was large and a baby crib was provided as soon as we checked in. This hotel has a rooftop bar/pool/viewing room and the view is amazing. I will book this hotel again.

This was undoubtedly the worst hotel we stayed at in all of Europe, which included France, Switzerland and Italy. We went in the middle of April and they had the heat on in the room, and no working air conditioning. The windows didn't open and it was over 80 degrees (F) in our room. The hotel lobby and Restaurant were cool and AC was working there. When we complained to the front desk they told us that they have not turned on the AC in the hotel yet, but they offered to turn off the heat in our room and provide us with small fans, both of which we accepted. I guess by turning off the flow of the heat, the vents had no circulation and the mosquitoes flowed freely from the vents. We spent 3 horrible nights disgustingly hot, fending off mosquitoes and listening to loud clicking fans. We would loved to change hotels but they are all booked. We left drained, bitten by Mosquitoes (see photos) and tired from the sound of the fans (see photos). I will say that when we complained upon leaving, they credited us $100 EU for a dinner we had, but the three nights still cost us almost $2,000 EU. You could not pay me to stay here again.

We just returned from Florence , our favorite city. This was our first time at this hotel recommended by our travel agent. What a great suggestion! It has the prefect combination of style, service and location. The staff is so welcoming and friendly; especially the front desk team who let me practice my Italian with them each day! Our room (511) overlooked the piazza. The view of the Duomo - night or day- never gets old. Breakfast was good with many choices. We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant one night. We have high standards when it comes to hotels and Grand Hotel Minerva met them all. We can’t wait to stay there again on our next visit to Florence.

Stayed here for 2 nights early January 2023. Location is good and accessible to the train station and tourist spots; property is clean; however, I have to say that this is the most stingy property I have stayed in Italy. There is no water in the room (even Expedia noted that there would be complimentary water). The view was supposed to be a garden or courtyard but we only had a view of one pot of shrub, of which the window doesn’t open fully (only opens like 1”). There is no thermos or coffee/coffee maker in the room. The gym only provides mineral water by request. The rooftop pool and wellness areas are not available, which was not previously mentioned prior to stay. The property is well-maintained, perhaps, because they don’t let guests actually use the amenities. We were also provided the worst room there is, on the first floor near the elevator, so noise from guests and elevator are usual. There are a lot of hotels in the area that have good location, so it is more practical to check other properties out. One of the few positive notes in this hotel is the front desk offered to combine the single beds. This property is probably more like an Air BnB type or worse, since no water thermos or coffee maker is provided.

Beautiful very modern hotel, located within easy walking distance of all the important things to see in Florence. Impeccable service, top notch bars and restaurants. Rooftop pool and bar provides great views.

Amazing hotel. Stay here if you want to feel luxury. Perfect location as well, walking distance from everything. Cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. The amenities were lovely. The view from the balcony in the room was stunning. The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious. The staff were all extremely lovely. The hotel restaurant was delicious as well.

Truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had! The staff is so accommodating and wonderful - they are there to help you with anything you need and are always polite and cheerful. The location is perfect - easy to walk to a ton of restaurants and attractions. Rooms are absolutely beautiful and they keep them extremely clean!! Obviously the rooftop bar and pool is everything the pictures show. Finally all the food - breakfast, lunch and dinner are all absolutely delicious - you can’t go wrong staying here! Will absolutely be back if I ever go to Florence again!

We had a really fine stay at the Minerva. Staff was eager and smart; they helped with a lot of local arrangements, obtained dinner reservations at non-touristy places with incredible food, etc. Front desk team was exceptional. Hotel is an incredible Carlo Scarpa designed property - classic mid-century modern. Well maintained and elegant. Room was good sized and bathroom was large. Really quiet even when there was a protest rally in the square out front. Food was delicious - great breakfast. Rooftop bar has superb views over the entire city. Magnificent and understated hotel.

The view from the terrace is probably the best in Florence (unless you wish to climb to Campanile bell tower of the Duomo). Fantastic panoramic view of the city. Very convenient to rail station. Great location and view. Staff and check-in / check-out were excellent. Super job of freshening the room each day. A very nice breakfast provided.

Wonderful location. Close to everything including the train station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were nicely appointed and the air conditioning worked well. Only had breakfast there but it was a big buffet featuring American style breakfast. Rooftop pool was great. Closes early 7 pm and becomes the roof bar which has a great view of the Duomo. Would recommend.

This is an amazing, elegant hotel. The location can't be beat. Just a 10 minute walk to Duomo, shopping, and other attractions in the city. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very quiet. We had a fantastic view overlooking the square out front. All of the staff were welcoming, attentive, and service was top notch. The front desk staff were particularly helpful recommending and booking restaurant reservations for us. The hotel's restaurant also had delicious food, and the breakfast bar was excellent (everything you could want). Rooftop bar / pool area is small, but a great place to grab a cocktail at night (and the views are spectacular). In summary, if you are planning a trip to Florence, Italy, I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

The great things about this hotel are the staff and the location. Florence is very intense and condensed so it was wonderful to be able to look out across the huge piazza di Santa Maria Novella and have refuge from the beautiful but packed streets. The room was lovely and spacious. The balcony overlooking the square was worth the extra cost. Despite being almost full, there was a sense of peace and privacy. I much enjoyed mornings spent lazing at the rooftop pool. Great views over Florence. Breakfast is wonderful and the coffee excellent. The staff were very kind and helpful. The chef is underused, as far as I could fathom, in that the three course fixed price menu offered on arrival was surprising: first class food of a high standard both in terms of creativity and execution - much enjoyed. The hotel should promote its menu more. I discounted a star because the Wifi does not work in the bedroom and the management should address this urgently. The artwork in the hotel and the overall design is beautiful.

This was one of the most incredible hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The staff was so friendly and genuinely wanted you to enjoy your stay. When we needed restaurant suggestions or a taxi, the concierges were super helpful. We even needed a wine opener and a member of the staff let us borrow his own and let us give it back to him tomorrow. The pool has the most incredible view of Florence and the poolside bar/ snack service is great (although very pricey). The beds were very comfortable and I loved the rain shower heads.

We can’t say enough good about our stay here…location, the service, cleanliness, helpful, everything was above and beyond. If staff perceived we had a need it was taken care of. North American hotels should take lessons. A big thank you to everyone from the front desk, room, bar and dining staff. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

This was a lovely hotel right in the centre of Florence. The staff were very helpful and efficient. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice with a good selection of hot and cold food. My only slight criticism was for a 4 star hotel there were no coffee making facilities in the room or even the usual complimentary bottled water.

Perfect location, close to train station. Very elegant hotel. Breakfast was the very best we experienced in Italy. Marianna at the front desk reception went over and above with her customer service. Everything was decorated for Christmas and looked very nice. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and they kindly left a card and biscuit gift. Very thoughtful. We would highly recommend this hotel and would return. It was easy to walk everywhere from this location. Note: It was a bit of a step into bathtub/shower. Not a problem for us but might be for others.

I made a reservation for the rooftop, and everything was exceptional. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They received us with a smile and made us feel welcome, even if we were not guests in the hotel. The view is amazing. We enjoyed our time drinking a glass of wine, a bit expensive, the price is 15, similar to Paris or London tough, but for the view and comfort is worthy.

Wonderful hotel within walking distance to most of central Florence and all main attractions. Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. We stayed for two nights, family of four with two children aged 8 and 9 in a suite in which sofa converted into two comfortable single beds. Spacious room. Pool in the roof with a bar was great and a nice reprieve for a couple of hours after lots of walking.

The hotel is centrally located in Santa Maria Novella Plaza very close to the train station. Although it isn't as luxurious as the St. Regis, we enjoyed our stay there and were in walking distance to pretty much everything we wanted to do. The rooms are gigantic and it was a welcome surprise to have a suite w/a walk-in closet as well as a balcony overlooking the square. Of all the hotel rooms we had traveling through Italy, this was the largest. The staff are very helpful and any issues we had were addressed within minutes. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and the food is good. The rooftop bar/pool offered great evening views of the city. My only complaint is that they have no iron or ironing board so it could be quite pricey to send clothing out for pressing. My husband also complained that they had no bar soap. He asked for it from housekeeping and they never delivered, so we don't know if they forgot about us or just don't have it.

Kind of Underwhelming property, not a lot of view, rooms on the small side as they tend to be here. A BIT PRICEY for what I thought we would be getting. Clean, well located, staff helpful. Breakfast was solid, but the hot food tended to be lukewarm at best.

Today we went to visit this hotel's bar area. Before we could even get close to the bar, a hotel staff gentleman quickly told us that since we were not guests of the hotel we could not be there. I understand him protecting the lobby area but I do believe there could have been a nicer way of delivering this message. We were looking for a place to have a drink later in the evening. We asked if you had to be a hotel guest to have a drink in the lobby bar and he said no. So, why be so rude to us. Although the hotel lobby looks nice, I wouldn't ever step foot in that place again or even recommend anyone consider staying there after being so rudely treated.

A good hotel in a fantastic location. Rooms are well appointed and a decent size. Breakfasts are good and service excellent. There is a nice bar, free sweets jars (which the kids will love) and seating outside in the piazza.

I will start with the "bad". Dinner is ok at best. It's a little too clever for its own good, and price is a bit high. That said, the location is amazing. It is a 20 minute walk at most to more interesting things to see than you can cover in a week. The rooms are very nice, although the bathrooms are a bit warm since they have heated towel racks. I know, first world problem, but I tend to run warm, so I noticed it. Also the staff at the hotel is fantastic. I forgot to get the name of the desk agents I spoke with, but everybody there was friendly, helpful and willing to listen to my silly requests and work with me. I cannot compliment them enough. Will definitely stay here any other time I am in Florence.

I travel almost all Italy and also a lot in Europe, as a traveller but mostly for business, this Hotel is one of the best I ve seen so far ! Location is just minutes away from the most iconic places in Florence! And they way the Staff treated me ( as a Chauffeur) says a lot about the professionalism and respect they have ! Thank you so much! See you next time !

The biggest complaint is the absolutely horrific wifi. You were lucky if you were able to connect at all. If you are able to connect, the connection was so poor you can’t do anything, including just loading emails. When asking the staff about this they basically just laughed as they had no idea what to do. There solution was sit in the lobby and do work. For a hotel accommodating so many international travelers this was a major disappointment. The elevators at this location are a close second. To start, the elevators did not have an up and down button, instead a single button making them extremely inefficient. You would be trying to go the lobby from your room and the elevator would arrive, but going up instead of down. The elevators strangely also required a room key to go to the ground level which seemed like a major mistake to me. There were two elevators, but majority of the floors could only be reached by one. The elevators were also extremely warm. The bathrooms reeked of mold and more than likely because the exhaust fans didn’t work. The shower/tub extended so high that me at 5’8” slipped out the shower and bruised myself multiple times because of the high height. We had multiple rooms so I can attest the problems with bathrooms and wifi were not isolated to one room. The concierge was less than knowledgeable. We tried a place highly recommended by them and it was undoubtedly the worst meal of the entire trip. Do yourself a favor and do NOT stay here. I would strongly recommend looking at anywhere else before staying here and if you find nothing, look again…

This hotel is in a prime location (walking distance) to many famous things in Florence. The rooms were clean, (slightly out dated, but not a complaint on my end) The staff members were very polite. The hotel has a rooftop pool / bar which is a good way to unwind after a long day!

Right in the pulsating heart of Florence a short walk from the train station and the city center close to both the old town and the entertainment centers is this wonderful hotel. An amazing hospitality experience with the willingness of the staff to assist and help with everything we needed. The hotel is stunning in its beauty and is inspiringly designed and the scenery in the surroundings is breathtaking and fascinating. We stayed in the romantic suite which was a large and luxurious spacious with two shower rooms and toilets. A spacious living room and equipped to the end in a particularly modern and elegant way. Beyond that the rest of the hotel services such as breakfast and the hotel restaurant were great. A special point to note is the bar and pool which are located on the top floor on the roof with one of the most exciting and spectacular views overlooking Florence from above, and are operated efficiently and really admirably by the staff. A wonderful and unforgettable experience.

Great & spacious room. Fantastic rooftop bar and pool even though a bit busy with noisy new generations… The staff is superior. A great place where to spend a few days in Florence and located a few minutes away walking distance from the major landmarks across the city

A wonderful place, where the service is at its best ! Before our venue, we were in touch with the hotel for organising the parking and some details about the room. They responded very quickly and were given many options / advice, as well as when we asked for recommandation in the city such as restaurants or monuments to be seen. The room was big (we booked a suite) with the view on the Piazza Santa Maria. Perfectly clean, it was a pleasure to enjoy it. The pool on the roof is absolutely magnificent, the view is breathtaking and you never feel being in the center of a city. Not a lot of seats but at least it’s not so crowded. We really had a lot of pleasure and highly recommend this place.

The staff here are so helpful and the rooms are beautiful! They helped us book all our reservations for the week, and our experience here overall has been amazing! We will stay here again for sure. If you are sensitive to noise, some noise might drift in through the doors.

How should one describe perfection? The hotel, the staff, the location, the rooms, the breakfast - EVERYTHING was just right. All wishes were prepared and implemented exactly to the point / actually even more ==> from the reception staff we received wonderful recommendations for a Tuscan dinner - in advance by email . We congratulate the hotel staff - for the wonderful time we spent in the hotel - GRAZIE!
