This hotel certainly does not have it all together. I normally would have rate it a 2 star or 3 star at best. I am giving a 4 because of the diligence done by the staff to manage up and provide the best service possible. That includes receiving a complimentary room upgrade and complimentary breakfast which was not part of the reservation. If you listen to one recommendation, PLEASE change / thoroughly clean the carpet in the main lobby; it is disgustingly dirty and it is a part of the consumer’s first impression; upon entry, that will trigger customers to wonder if other things in the hotel will be dirty. The building has a lot of potential and the Autograph brand gives you a big lift, but Marriott certainly falls short on this Florence showcase. You are welcome for the 4-star rating; thank your staff.

A great location, a very short walk to all Florence’s main sites. Room was good - upgraded through Bonvoy to a Superior room which was a good size and had a nice balcony. Was impressed watching another couple’s check-in experience: their booking wasn’t sent by their travel agent, but they were given their room with a ‘don’t worry, we will sort out’, which would give me confidence. I would give 5 stars but for two things: (1) the room was very hot, as the AC wasn’t working. Apparently the AC is off because it’s no longer summer…but we had to sleep with the balcony door open and there was a fair bit of noise from revellers downstairs. And (2) I felt my request for a late check out was dealt with very rudely. Although the same staff member was very polite later…perhaps it was a bad moment. All in all, I would stay here again in Florence. It was a quiet area close to the centre, and a nice hotel overall.

Nice hotel with very pleasant staff that is short one star for a few easily fixed issues. I requested a bucket of ice for our room on the first night from the bar/ restaurant area. The gentleman provided the ice but commented that they normally would not do this. I needed ice for two reasons: to handle a swollen knee and for cocktails in my room. This was a challenge each night. The 2nd issue was a major storm rolled through, and all shutters were closed. This was certainly understandable, but 3 days after the storm, we requested the shutters to be open to let in the sun. 5 days later, when we checked out, the shutters were still closed. Very claustrophobic feeling. All in all, a nice hotel except for minor issues. Thanks

This hotel does not live up to a 5 star rating. The staff is very rude and unhelpful. The hotel is very old and shows it. In need of a renovation, the interior smells like rotting trash and is dirty. One of the weirdest things is that their room keys are heavy and you leave them at the front desk anyone could ask for your room key with no verification of a guests identification. At the pool the staff were very rude about having drinks near the pool even after requesting plastic cups. Drinks were expensive and not great. Overall the rooms were decent size and nice but did not live up to a 5star rating. The property is about 8-10 minutes away from downtown, would recommend staying somewhere else for the cost.

This hotel was a great stay! The pool was quite the respite during 90+ degree temperatures while we were there. Service/staff here were absolutely wonderful and we felt very welcomed and at home. Breakfast was a huge spread with a ton of different options. Rooms were large with an old world charm, unfortunately there was a slight moldy smell. A/C worked very well and kept us cool when it was very hot. There is a gym available with hand weight, machines and mats. I would recommend they add sanitizing wipes as there is no way to disinfect and mats are dirty. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay here.

I’m really disappointed and I will never stay at this hotel again. This hotel is definitely not worth the price that it is at. The manager was extremely rude when we politely asked him if we could have a later checkout so that we could do a little more touring before we leave. He rudely replied to us to get out at the same check out time. The rooms also smell really terrible like sewerage and the air conditioner doesn’t even work. The pools and the views from the rooms are terrible as well. Their housekeeping service is awful, their cleaning is not good at all, they don’t replace the towels or put any new water. Please do not purchase inclusive breakfast because the breakfast is not nice at all and there is no variety in the food at all. The plates were disgustingly dirty, in the clean stack of plates there was one plate that was completely messed because it wasn’t cleaned at all. Honestly, I’d rather stay at a cheap hotel than waste my money here because this hotel is just expensive but it is the same quality as a cheap hotel.

This place is very historical and has some great workers. The concierge are so helpful. My special thanks to don Paulo he has working there almost 50 years and knows everything. The location is great very close to train station. Pool and restaurants are great. I stayed in presidential for 4 nights it was amazing. Thank you guys see you soon.

I just checked out of Sina Villa Medici and it was truly an amazing experience. I checked in late at night due to my flight getting in late and Eleanora at the front desk was truly amazing. I told her my back was hurting and she was able to accommodate a tub for me which was wonderful after a long day. She also insisted I had assistance carrying my bags up to my room. The pool is absolutely stunning and you feel as if you’re at a villa rather than a hotel. It truly stands by the name!

This is not a kids friendly hotel… not for families. It has a swimming pool, but don’t allow kids to be there… we went to the swimming pool, twice in 5 days, and both days they were awful…. They didn’t let the kids talk… they were not loud! And not jumping or diving… they were just there.. and they were awful with them! Not a good experience! I don’t recommend it!

Don’t be fooled by the beautiful pictures. Very dated hotel with furniture, curtains, bathrooms and carpets that are ugly and old (not in a nice way). At the reception they have super old plastic fake grass on the floor 🤣 Elevators are so cheap and old. Staff is wearing overwashed clothes. Corridors smell of something unfresh. After the check in I asked if I can cancel my reservation. I had 2 day in advance cancellation policy, we agreed on a fee of 150 euros and I left. Front desk was very kind and appreciated my concerns. Went to Il Tornabuoni, that is a real 5 star hotel, and it was 100 euros cheaper.

It’s difficult for me to understand the glowing reviews of Villa Medici. The beds are extremely firm, and I could feel the coils in my side as I rested each night. After multiple requests, we had a small topper put onto our mattress which didn’t really help. These are one star beds, it’s appalling this is rated as a five star hotel. The sheets scratched my face. The breakfast is tasty, and the restaurant team seems great. The street is a little edgy, but otherwise a quiet, and close location to the heart of Florence. But otherwise, staying through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts is a huge disappointment and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The staff is so friendly and corteous. The hotel has an old style theme but smells good in the inside. The rooms are gorgeous. However, because we're from Canada, we used to cool rooms. I couldn't hear if the a/c even turns on and took awhile to cool the room. But thats a minor flaw. They also have a swimming pool and a bar inside. This is 5 star!!!

A wonderful, well-located hotel with amazing, attentive staff. We spent 3 nights is a spacious room overlooking the pool (which served as a great respite from long walking days in Florence). The greeting received upon check-in from senior staff epitomized the small hotel feeling and truly made us feel welcome and appreciated. The assistance each night with restaurant reservations was great, particularly the last night at Il Profeta. Giorgia was amazing in her attentiveness, both before and during our stay. Highly recommend!!

One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at. Definitely 5-stars. The pool is cinematic. I loved it here! Giovanni (one of the front of house guys) stood out especially as a warm, friendly presence every day. Always smiling and welcoming, happy to see us. :) Harry’s Bar is historic, and the restaurant was perfectly low-key. Get the classic spaghetti! It’ll be the best of your life.

Update: I did finally receive my refund, five weeks later, after many emails back and forth. Lovely hotel and very friendly staff. The breakfast was vast and tasty. Within walking distance of the train station. However a bit of a walk (15-20) minutes to all of the places a tourist would like to see. My biggest complaint and the reason I’m giving three stars is because they charged me 135€ for parking—-I DIDN’T HAVE A CAR!! I checked out on 8/31 and noticed the over charge the next day on my credit card. My travel agent who booked the hotel spoke to them about a refund on several occasions and was promised that a refund would be credited to my card in two to three business weeks. It’s been more than four weeks and we still haven’t gotten our refund. So disappointing and now I have to dispute it. Such a pain.

Nice hotel within walking distance to the sights of Florence. The staff were friendly and professional. Gineva did a great job checking us in. I wish our rooms would have been ready when we arrived, like we requested when we checked in online. The breakfast is simple and it would have been great if they’d of given us our breakfast tickets before we tried to eat the first day. Our room had a great view of the Duomo. I do wish they had an executive lounge.

Only stayed for 1 night this September. Common areas including the bar and pool are nice. Walkable from the train station. The rooms are dated. Our suite had a musty smell since it had just rained the day before. Staff was accommodating and moved rooms for us. It seems the bedroom suite rooms are not as updated as the studio style rooms. For a “five star” hotel, it leaves much to be desired. In the end, we shortened our stay here because the location is also not that close to the touristy spots that we wanted to visit.

This hotel is everything Marriott personifies in quality while keeping the true personality of Florence in tact. It was a very pleasant experience and I couldn't love it more. The AC was great which is hard to find in most places. I definitely recommend this place but would not come back if given the chance again. My only complaint about this location is that the staff seem a little snooty and uptight, so much so, that I never felt welcomed. The pretentious attitudes and demeanors were a major turn-off which is why I keep it at 4 stars.

Very disappointing stay at this hotel. Our room was delivered an hour late with no apology or offer of a complimentary cocktail. We were not recognized as Marriot Bonvoy members as we are usually recognized at other Marriott properties. The staff were not warm or welcoming to us as American tourists. Not a great location- about a 15 minute walk to the center of Florence. More importantly the hotel is located in a very sketchy area with a small park near the front entrance with homeless and drug activity. Very dated hotel with an overpriced bar -$25 for a Vodka and soda. I can’t believe this property is affiliated with Marriott.

We just checked in to this beautiful historic hotel in Florence. The staff was extremely personable and treated us in such an outstanding way it made us feel like we were home. We are staying in the Florence suite and are blown away by the views and size of the suite and balcony with jacuzzi. Feeling the jet lag from travel we decided to get a few drinks in the bar and a pizza. The magic started with the bartender making the BEST Manhattan we have ever had and we have traveled the world. I’m not sure if it’s the type of sugar he mixes in or the cherries and bourbon but it was spectacular! The pizza was beyond delicious but more than all of that it was the appreciation the staff at this hotel shows it’s customers. It’s been a very difficult and trying year and a half for Italy and as Americans it was our pleasure traveling to this magical country to show our support and this hotel goes above and beyond to make your time here unforgettable. ♥️🇮🇹🍷🍕🥤

We stayed last summer. We had a great time, the room was very peaceful with the window on the nice hotel’s garden. Our room was very spacious and clean. You can tell it’s been refurbished but kept its own heritage. I loved that. Garden is lovely in summer and you can have breakfast outside in the morning. We had few aperitif / after dinner drinks at the hotel, a bit expensive but it was nice

Beautiful hotel about 20 minutes walking from Main attractions BUT the details makes the difference (positive or negative). Room was delivered almost 2 hours later of check in time, in room wifi was so bad and I really needed to attend business matters and the worst is that they forgot to clean our room. Obviously this is not what is expected from a hotel of this category.

Just finished a two and a half week stay in Europe. We stayed a week at this property. Full disclosure I am a Marriott Ambassador so have a bias to Marriott properties. This trip entailed Zurich, Salzburg, Vienna, Florence, Rome, Pisa. We stayed at all five star properties. Pros: if you have a child under ten, there is a pool, this is rare in Italy and a nice compliment. Pros: part of Marriott brand so a nice way to get points and stays vs other five star properties in Firenze. Westin and st Regis. Pros: very friendly staff and concierge. Try very hard to help when needed Pros: free breakfast which was very nice (maybe just because I’m ambassador) Pros: price of room was good for what it was. Cons: pricing of ancillary services. Compared to the other five star hotels I stayed in (Vienna ritz Carlton, Westin excelsior rome, etc.) drink and food costs were higher. Cons: wifi is really bad as you get higher. I couldn’t do work and this impacted my business Cons: only property out of the 6 we stayed in where I was not recognized as an ambassador or given something. Not that I care but there is just a disconnect from other services and the total bonvoy experience. Cons: I should have known this but none of my suite upgrades cleared yet they cleared in other five star properties. If you want a suite just pay for it. This was my mistake. Would I stay here again? Yes, the hotel will grow on you. I think if the hotel can just upgrade its wifi, offer free mimosas at breakfast, and have similar bonvoy experiences like the other hotels and get its prices in line with other five star hotels it can be a five star property. Room price was very good for service. As a recommendation I wouldn’t pay 1000 bucks a night at Westin down the street, so this is good value. Also I think it was the owner, but there is an older gentleman that was constantly driving the attention of all staff outside and inside, so they do care about the experience. We used the property as a jumping off point too, and did day/night trips from train station. So that is nice and simple if you need to get to any other city in Italy. Peter

Beautiful elegant hotel. Very good service. Met my expectation with the 5-star hotel in Marriott group. I especially liked the breakfast place. This beautiful little garden with a small pool. Soothing environment.

  • 2/5 Pamela L. 1 year ago on Google
The pool and gardens were pretty as well as the public areas. The rooms were old and outdated. I had to be moved to another room in the better wing of the hotel as the first room had a horrible smell of the kitchen oil and brown water coming from the bathroom taps. The so called upgrade was not much better but at least didn’t smell bad. Very expensive and not worth the money. Twenty minute walk from the center was fairly convenient.

It's a really good hotel, wonderful service. The room was good, but left me wanting a bit more at this level of price and within the Marriott brand. Steam/sauna was a nice touch! They need a doorman to improve the feeling of safety at the entrance.

Nice hotel a little away from the chaos of the city center. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. For valet you need to enter the sidewalk area from the side where there is a blockade that will lower when you approach it. Otherwise you can park across the street at the garage but they close at night.

This is an old establishment that claims to have five stars. It is three or four stars tops. The room was a suite. We had some issues about the upgrade, being a Marriott Titanium also using Suite Upgrade nights. The suite itself was quite nice and had wonderful balconies but every night we were disturbed (and bit!) by mosquitoes even though we never slept with windows open. The pool was unheated, so for display purposes only. Breakfast was excellent and has great staff. The gym was open by appointment only, a hassle, who can prebook gym at a hotel? No spa available. The service was typically Italian. Upon checkout I raised the issue about mosquitoes and the response was: “Did you ask for a spray at reception?”. No apologies nor discount provided. In sum. This privately owned Italian hotel has become a member of the Autograph collection by Marriott in order to attract American travelers, and they have succeeded in attracting them, but they are failing in providing Marriott level five star service.

Sina Villa Medici was the perfect hotel for us! Located walking distance to all the main attractions in Florence, it offered top notch amenities and great service. They let us check in early as they had a room available. Even the basic room is spacious and comes with everything you'll need. The staff here were all super friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was some of the best food we ate in the city. Thanks for a great stay!
