ordered a 1.2kg Florentine T-bone steak at the restaurant. The waitress did not ask me how I wanted it cooked and did not confirm the condition of the raw steak with me before cooking. I was then served a very fatty steak with a tough texture. I am very unsatisfied.

Unfortunately one of my worst dinners in Italy. (Also the most expensive one) The atmosphere is amazing however the food was not great. I had a pasta dish with truffles which was good, but not special. The main problem was the meat. I know that this meat is not supposed to be cooked medium rare, however it was too much for me. The waiter didn’t ask how I wanted it to be cooked and it was pretty bland. No seasoning at all. I almost didn’t eat anything because it was too raw and tasteless. It also came with a huge chunk of raw white fat which didn’t make any sense at all. Anyway it was pretty frustrating. I had to go to another place to have dinner.

The service is really good and the food does not take long to be served. Their meat cuts are outrageous. If you are looking for a good steak in Florence this is the place to be. You should definitely try the t-bone steak. There are plenty of options on the cuts and they demonstrate to you what are you going to be served with. Note: If you are visiting the restaurant during summer the indoor sitting area does not have an air conditioner so it is extremely hot.

A traditional restaurant that I asked for carbonara and it delivered. Carbonara I have had better, but even these meet the requirements to satisfaction. The setting is nice, it's just that if there are a lot of people inside, it smells like truffles. If you don't like that odor, you may not enjoy your visit much. On the other hand, you'll get used to it pretty quickly. I recommend booking a table in advance, it tends to be crowded, so we waited outside the restaurant for a while.

Stumbled upon this lovely little Tuscan restaurant in the quaint old town. The steaks are on view in the window fridge, and are cooked to perfection. Our waiter was really attentive, funny and spoke great English, sadly I can't remember his name. Great restaurant and reasonable prices. Recommended!

This is a review of my solo dining experience because I had arrived a day earlier to Florence before my wife. The atmosphere of the restaurant is absolutely outstanding, I was seated in the back room which was almost like a wine library. The decor and candlelit atmosphere was great for couples and groups. However it is my honest opinion that because I was eating alone. I was discriminated against. As the main server never ever once attended to me as he attended to the entire room of 12+ tables. He left the entire service of me to the busboy. Who’s other clear jobs was to clean and set tables. He was fine but of course out of his element because of small details like every table got cheese with their pasta and the wine they ordered with their meal. As I sat thru the night it was clear to me. That the head server was more intent on selling large steaks and bottles of wines to couples and bigger tables. I ordered the pappardelle which was quite good and a rib eye steak (500-600g) ordered medium. I know it’s customary for cooks to want to cook steaks rare in Florence, but in my opinion rib eye needs to have the fatty parts rendered and red inside is totally fine. But very different then raw. Raw makes the meat chewy. The potatoes as the side with the steak were excellent But just my personal opinion.

I made a reservation for me and my wife’s first dinner in Florence, the ambience was great and the food was even better! It was my first time having a Florentine steak and it did not disappoint. The cheesecake is a must try and was much different to the cheesecakes in the US!

The staff, the food, the atmosphere…I don’t know where to start. This place is amazing. Delicious food, wonderful service with a genuine smile and really great energy. We hosted a large birthday party and everyone was very, very happy. Thank you to everyone at Ristorante il Paiolo!

If I could give the service 6 out of 5 stars, I would. Sylvia at the Donati set up our reservations for an evening experience. Our server was professional, attentive, highly knowledgeable of the menu, and fluent in English. The steak was tender and delicious. The pastas were some of the best we experienced. The minestrone soup was interesting and flavorful. The highlights were the ambience in the rear of the restaurant, professional service, and wonderful flavors.

The restaurant looks good inside and unfortunately it's the only good thing I can say about this place. The food wasn't good compared to other places. I found worm in my fiance’s pasta so he send it back. And when it came back the taste was weird, the porcini is undercooked. So my fiance barely eat his pasta. My dish was osso buco with rice on the menu but instead they served it with beans, so again I send it back. Wine is 2x the market price & it was spoiled. The waiter was polite about the situation, offered to take out my fiance’s pasta. We were pleased by his service, but the kitchen does terrible mistakes of making the clients hate the place.

Excellent restaurant, hidden in plain sight right in the centre of Florence. Steak was very well cooked, yes rare, but no better way to enjoy it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would go again for sure.

Fantastic food and service! We ordered one steak to share and a couple sides and appetisers and it was delicious all around. Highly recommend if you are in the Firenze area.

Was in the mood for beef stew and searched online through many restaurants and found this place, plus it was recommended by my apt host. The stew was good - soft and rich. It could have used more salt but overall I was satisfied with the dish. However, it came with beans and I was expecting potatoes based on previous photos, so I ordered a side of potatoes for 7€. I also ordered bruschetta which was fine but again, not salty enough. And the bread lacked flavor. Seems this place doesn’t really like salt or much flavor. Cheesecake was tasty but honestly the whole meal came out to being more expensive than I was expecting. I had just spent a few days in Venice where everything was pricey and I had much better meals there for a comparable price. In Venice for 66€ I had a *fantastic* innovative full meal (two primi plus dessert) with 4 glasses of wine for only a bit more than my meal here. Here the wine and sides were more pricey compared to Venice. See bill for details. I will say the decor and setup was nice, and it’s a nice place to go on a date. But the food could have been better.

Dinner was excellent! The steak was amazing as well as the dessert! The service was typical for Italy but kind. This was a very unique place and is known as the oldest restaurant in Florence. Either way, We would eat here again if we came back.

My first night in Florence, I came here for dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a good ambience. However, the food was rather bland. Nothing stood out. And this was expensive even for such a famous tourist destination like Florence. I would honestly give this place a 2-star rating if not for the lovely décor and the kindness of my waitress.

A wonderful spot for dinner in Florence. Everyone got a pasta, 2 of us the Carbonara and it was absolutely heavenly, definitely a must-have! The service was also really great from the moment you arrive until you walk out.

Good location but quite expensive. The food was good, but for 16€ ravioli and 14€ gnocchi you expect to be amazed how good the food is. It was good but we expected more. Also the service charge was 7€ per person. So in summary, everything was good but the prices were very high.

I came here because the restaurant I wanted to go to was closed. But I am glad that I chose it. I ordered the Chianina ribeye (36 EUR) with grilled potato (8 EUR) on the side. The steak weighed 500-600, bone in, and not thick. I asked for medium despite the waiter suggested that I go for medium rare. It was very good but I could see why medium rare is the best option. The lower part of the steak was extremely crusty, and it was super tasty with a lot of fat. The center part was juicy. I really liked the way the meat tasted, I can't quite place what it was but there's unique flavour and hint that came out of it. The potato was just okay, it could be seasoned a bit more. And 8 EUR potato side is more expensive than other places (6-7 EUR).

Spectacular locally-sourced appetizers, steaks, ravioli, stew, and pasta - a perfect spot for lunch on a hot day (nice A/C) and a great selection of wines and cocktails. So happy we stumbled across this place!

Great service, nicely decorated...we went all in, on there famous steak chianini tbone. It came out with a lot of bone, tho still delicious looking. However if you pay by weight, than that's rather frustrating. Anyway taste was great and overall experience too. Didn't get a bottle of wine like the previous review said, hehe. We had 2 starters, 1,3kg main, 2 bottles sparkling and wine. Came out at 250usd, as a side note

Food was incredible but a little pricey. It was very much worth the money, though. Place was silent enough, gorgeous walls and ceilings, the staff was super friendly, meat was perfect. It was definitely the best dinner we had in Italy.

Very cosy beautiful atmosphere, great service and delicious food. The Florentine steak, the porcini mushrooms pasta and cold cuts with liver crostini were just amazing . The steak was brought to us for our approval before it was cooked. It was a bit not too excellent compared to other steak we tasted in Florence but was still good and worth to try.

Great ambience. Relaxing. Friendly wait staff willing to accommodate a gluten free customer. Food was excellent. Private labeled olive oil and balsamic vinegar were the best we've had. Would definitely recommend!

The Little Rostorante a slight ways from Opera di Santa Maria Del Fiore, They display their smoked meats in front of there restaurant …. The staff are Nothing But Accommodating, VERY professional; the food is of high quality very tasty, packed with flavor me and my friends ordered there Firenze steaks with various other sides and anti-pasty every single dish was devoured with gusto… The staff has an amazing sense of humor. A true craftsman of the Job. The price for 5 people( me being a big eater) the price is so worth the meal we had. We just kept on having foodgasm😋

Wonderful place to have dinner in Florence; really friendly staff and tasty pasta. We appreciated so much how romantic our table was. It's worth noting that they let us stay in without reservation.

It’s all a FAKE fancy act!! Food is average to bad. The steak was so tough and raw we couldn’t chew it. The set menu we ordered had a dessert and drink which they forgot to bring, and when asked, they brought the dessert and it was obviously microwaved (half hot and half cold). Please be avoid the restaurants in the center as their portions are generally small and quality is terrible for tourists.

It was nice cozy restaurant. The meat entrecôte was nice but it wasn’t our type. Recommend meat with pepper sauce tho it was quite good.

This was the best restaurant we went to in Florence - in fact in all of Italy!!! My mom and I came here twice - once, to celebrate her bday and twice, to eat dinner on our last night in Florence. The food was amazing both nights and Michele was the best server we could have asked for!!! Thank you so much Il Paiolo for making our Florence trip 100x better!!
