This is such an underrated museum that doesn't get as much love because it competes against the Accademia and the Duomo. The sculpture collection is the most impressive I've ever seen. Michelangelo, Donatello, and many others are represented here. The David is located on the second floor in the Donatello room. Restrooms are available in the rear of the courtyard.

It's a very nice museum focusing on sculptures, with the ground floor hosting a mix of Roman and Christian mythology, and the upper floors focusing on primarily Christian mythology. There are also a room just with weaponry. It wasn't very busy and much less crowded that the more popular Uffizi, which was great and allowed you to move around and consider the pieces. The building itself is also very interesting, built in 1255, functioning as a prison and police headquarters for several hundred years before being turned into a museum. It was €14 per person and a good visit.

This is an absolutely fascinating museum, I was here a couple of years ago and I can only image how much better it is now. It’s has an amazing collection of statues, monuments, artworks, paintings and memorabilia. It’s very well preserved and displayed, it is a very unique and historical museum. I took home a nice souvenir and books about the museum’s collection. I really enjoyed my time here and I would definitely recommend visiting this museum when in Florence.

One of the guides in Uffizi recommended this museum after I mentioned that I really liked the sculptures, and I'm really glad I went. This museum really feels like a hidden gem since there was absolutely no line when I entered and the exhibits were very well organized. There are no student discounts though. There were rooms dedicated to just ivory carvings, coins, ceramics, and armory. I like that there are both outdoor and indoor areas and plenty of seats available for when your legs get tired.

I loved this museum. By far the calmest experience I had in florence. If you want all the history and charm but not the crowds.

Just lovely. I mainly wanted to see the Donatello works, especially his David. Which is just such an integral part of Medici history. Loved the Majolica pottery as well...

The museum was opened till 1.50pm. No queues, cheaper, no crowds of tour groups, so peaceful and the exhibits are extensive. Three floors of quality and interesting sculptures and artifacts. This museum is so underrated, please visit it when in Florence. Just walk in and buy the ticket at the counter (9 euros).

Basically absolutely worth seeing. We were able to enter without waiting. But unfortunately everything is a bit unsorted and poorly presented. Too many great works of art crammed together to get lost with heaps of other stuff. Rude lady at ticket sales :(

Nice, quiet museum with some great work from some of the masters. The building is impressive as well. I downloaded the Rick Steves audio guide to help me through the museum. Give yourself between an hour and an hour and a half to get through at a leisurely pace.

Rich museum, gathering items from many historical periods, including art and decorations, famous statues, but also everyday objects. Our comfortable and serene modern life has countless roots in Florence, a crucible of arts and knowledge. Viewing and understanding the past helps to leap into the future.

If you like sculptures then this museum is a must. They had quite a few amazing sculptures but also some other pretty interesting works of art. The building itself is quite amazing and worth a look all by itself. The courtyard when you first walk in was beautiful. We came quite early around 8:15am and there was a short wait to get inside. We didn't pre buy tickets and we had no issue to get them once passed through security. It was also very much not crowded which was a nice break from the other attractions. Overall for €10 per person it was totally worth it.

Florence is amazing. Because of that, all of the tourists are there making all of the lines long. Bargello is perhaps the best museum in Florence that doesn't come with a line and crowd. The art is exceptional. So many important sculptures. There are great coins, armor, paintings, ceramics, etc as well.

Must see beautiful sculptures such the Giovanni di Bologna Flying Mercury and magical Donatelo's, Bernini's and many others for a beautiful display of the Italian Reinansence. Not as busy as other popular museums and displays in town. Worth every penny...(rather Euro).

A great museum. The famous David of Donatello is a masterpiece and has the company of quite some other very nice Italian sculptures. There is also a nice collection of late medieval - early new era paintings and other art works, with a large collection of islamic art as well. There is a vast collection of christian clay work and also renaissance statuettes. The building itself, a palazzo, is also very impressive. There is a modest museum shop at the entrance. This is worth a visit for the collection, not just as a back-up plan if you are too late for tickets to the Uffizi.

This museum is fantastic. The many statues, paintings, reliefs, and weapons were beautiful. We stopped in not expecting much and left knowing we had seen some of the most beautiful works of art around. It's a lot less crowded and more quiet. We loved the silence in the courtyard as we took in all the statues. There is a lot to like here with small crowds.

Visiting the gorgeous Bargello and seeing the most exquisite Donatello’s “David,” was the highlight of my time in Florence. Having not made it there in earlier visits, I was very much looking forward to seeing this particular “David”. He did not disappoint! Smooth, glowing, bronze skin, covering muscles of a boy who is just stepping into manhood. Everything about this smaller piece showcases Donatello and his vision of renaissance David. Sweeter, more delicate than Michelangelo’s but perhaps closer to the Biblical in that Donatello’s is diminutive in comparison. The experience is intimate, up close, as there was no rope around him at this person’s viewing. In fact nothing about the Bargello will disappoint, including the structure itself. I am not adding photos because there are already enough.

Wonderful museum displaying the works of adorned artists; including Donatello & Dante. Many rooms and floors. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, small gift shop.

One of our favorite muesuems so far with a large concentration on the second floor for Donatello. This muesuem hosts the most popular work by Donatello of David. There is also some Michaelangelos on display but they were not his most notable works. The sculptures here are amazing and our entry was eight euros each. We spent approximately two hours here. Make sure not to miss the third floor with all the weapons! We almost walked out without seeing them and they are amazingly preserved. A must see! Please like the review if it is helpful or ask questions and I will try to answer them.

This lesser known museum is a hidden delight found just a couple minutes walk from the Uffizi. The building itself is one of the oldest and most important of Florence. It is best known for the permanent collection of Donatello statues on the second floor along with smaller collections from throughout Tuscany on the third and fourth floors, there is also space for temporary displays on the ground level as well. The best part is that, unlike the big name museum destinations, this museum is quiet and easily accessible. Highly recommend adding this to your visit to Florence.

Vastly underappreciated museum especially if you love sculpture! Minimal line to buy tickets during peak season and they have Michaelangelo, Donatello, Verrocchio, and a few of the original sculptures from the nearby Orsanmichelle church.

Very interesting and well organized. I thought it is a small museum but it has a lot of exhibits. There are sculptures, paintings, and artifacts.. We stayed there for over 2 hours. We didn't order tickets online but there was no line so it wasn't needed. Price is €12 per person, and I think it's worth it.

Forget the Accademia Belle Arti and forget the Museo Galileo, this is the place to come to see original sculptures and items of exquisite detail and beauty and it has the antiquity and space for it all. 3 floors that are filled with scientific, and religious and armoury items and probably more, it was a Sunday when we went and they were ushering us out for closure at 2pm. €8 entry well worth it compared to €10 for Galileo or €16 for Accademia.

What a treasure. We only had a little time to run into this museum at the end of a long day. It turned out to be one of the most memorable ones to visit. The competition pieces for the baptistery doors can be found here. Judge for yourself who should have won the competition. Donatello's David is also housed at this museum along with other remarkable pieces. Put this museum on your list to say.
