The location is great, but there's not much else going for this property. The rooms, furnishings and bathrooms are comparable to a motel in the US. The air-conditioning was almost non-existent. So we had to spend three nights in a warm room with barely any air or cooling. The AC didn't produce much air and we could hear water gurgling from it. But the hotel refused to acknowledge there was a problem and said to them it felt cool, and tried to put the blame on us that as tourists we don't understand what's normal for Italy. We even asked to cancel the reservation so we could go to another place with a good AC, but they refused. Breakfast is close to being inedible, hair dryer doesn't work properly, bathroom shower door kept coming off tracks. Florence being such a small city, I'd prefer to stay slightly further away at a better hotel rather than compromise and choose this just for location. In fact, even the location has it's negatives because the area is overrun by tourists and as soon as you step out of the hotel, you're surrounded by thousands of tourists.

Great hotel, stayed for 7 nights and really loved it. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the location is amazing. The cleanliness was great and the breakfast was good. (more chocolate croissants please).

My experience staying in this hotel was traumatic. The front desk gave us the worst room possible; stuffed-up odour, small and outdated. On the first night of our stay, I was bitten with at least 135 bed bug bites all over my body. I even took the photographs and the videos of the bed bugs crawling on the bed. The management moved us to a better room upstairs for the second and the third night of our stay. I pleaded for medical assistance because I had severe allergies to the bites, but my request was ignored. I also asked for refund of our three night stay to compensate for the pain and the suffering I went through, but that was also declined. The hotel management is a bunch of unsympathetic, incompetent and greedy crooks who did not care about the well-being of their guests. I have found myself a lawyer to sue this hotel for breach in duty care to provide a sanitary environment.

Good: location. Bad: everything. It’s not a 3 star hotel, it’s not even a 1 star. Rooms are dirty. AC? Yes it has AC, but it doesn’t makes air cold. It is making noises and dry air. Mosquitos they are everywhere. It’s impossible to feel refreshed after night in this room. Bed is dirty, bed sheets are dirty. Bathroom is dirty. Towels are dirty. Service desk lady doesn’t want to do her job. Hotel doesn’t provide enough towels for two guests (it was just one towel). I asked for one more towel, After arguing and proving that room was booked for two persons, she gave me another one, she put it directly on a lobby desk, where everyone puts money, documents and bags. It is one of the worst hotel I ever stayed. I will never come back.

Location is their main benefit. You won't get much of a view from the rooms as most of them seem to face the back alley. Who needs a view though when you can just step out straight into the buzzing square. :) Direct lift access from the building entrance to the reception on 3rd floor but it's a tiny one for two persons max. I recommend calling in advance to confirm wheelchair accessibility. Aside from that, it's a reasonably priced, clean place.

The location of the hotel is the strongest attribute of this hotel. The service was efficient and friendly. We had problems with the air conditioning not cooling the room on the first night but it was resolved in the middle of the night. The hotel is on the upper floors of the building and there is a small elevator that takes you to the lobby so there is a little inconvenience for big groups, most of us ended up taking the stairs. All things considered, I would recommend the hotel for the great location and friendly staff.

Great location, typical hotel breakfast, but the small room and the need to climb many stairs to reach the bed and bathrooms was not easy or fun.

I loved everything about the Bigallo from my room to the food to the location. But I really loved the attitude and attention received from the staff. They should be rewarded for being above and beyond the expectations. I will return. Thank you for everything!

BEST location - right in the center of everything! The AC works great, rooms have everything you need.

Room was small but well appointed. Breakfast was excellent - plenty of choices. A quiet hotel - not great for families with small children.

Prime location, great value. Breakfast probably not worth the money for cereal, cold cuts, and bread. We would absolutely stay again. Room was clean and good size. View of Duomo (if you pay more)... We didn't pay the extra, but could see Duomo from the bathroom. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Very loud location but the staff and the room was lovely. If you need a space right in the town centre is stay here, the church bells next door are a great wakeup call

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. Best location in town. My view was WoW, Wow, WoW. Breakfast was good too. I loved it Just a warning, not all the rooms are the same, with the same amazing view, on our last night we got switched to another room, much basic with a no view

Overlooking the Piazza del Duomo, the hotel has the best possible location one can think of. Has extremely friendly staff, semi rustic decor and is clean. Has numerous food options nearby. Worth further recommendations.

The rooms are terrific. Good size and very nice and clean with comfortable beds. The staff is also very courteous and friendly and efficient. The breakfast could be better, but it's included in the room rate.

Basically in the shadow of the clock tower next to the Duomo, so you know what you are getting when you book. It's a busy location, noisy until late in the evening. But it's a great location, clean hotel and the staff mostly speak good English and are all very helpful.

Our room had an incredible view of the Duomo. Perfect location (5/5), once you get in... It is in a pedestrian zone so it will be tricky. Call ahead! Our room on the top floor had two floors, which was really cool. Breakfast was good (4/5). The staff was friendly. Our only real hiccup is the company that brings your car back took two hours but that was not the hotel's fault.

Is this the best location in Florence? Yes - next to the Duomo Is it the most modern ? No - very traditional and all the better for that Is it quiet? No, but you are next to some of the biggest church bells in the world and a very popular piazza! Comfortable? Yes Are the bathrooms modern? Not the room I was in, but perfectly serviceable and clean Friendly? Yes 100% good breakfast? Croissants, toast, museli, cereal fruit and coffee...enough said Does the WiFi work - yep, very good If you expect 8 person lifts look elsewhere but if you want an authentic hotel in a great location the Bigallo will not disappoint
