So if you go here expecting gardens you’re going to be sadly let down. It’s nothing more than what looks to be a neglected park that has some interesting statues. The views are amazing. The area historically is interesting. But there is no maintenance, no signage explaining what the pieces are. I was so excited to see this place after seeing it from our hotel rooftop. But I was severely disappointed. We stayed a few hours and left. Didn’t even attempt the palace. We found an exit and left. I expected lush green gardens and plants and things. It’s gravel paths and unkept lawns. Weeds galore. No working fountains. Green, unclean water. Sad to have to write this but you should be warned. It’s not a good look IMO and needs someone to take a financial stake in it and return it to glory. Not even simple things like hedge trimming to keep the clean lines is a thing. Good thing we got some steps in for the day because it’s huge. Just wish there could have also been some explanations as to what the various lawns were used for. Locals get free access so a lot of people just laying around on the lawns. Not what we expected.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Florence and want a good view! Entrance fee was €10 per person and the place is full of beautiful statues and well cultivated grounds. If you make it up to the top of the hill you’ll be rewarded with some fine panoramic views of the city and beyond. I would add that the grounds were rather dry in the July sun and the advertised cafe was under renovation, so be prepared to bring plenty of water and take your time if you want to explore it all.

Nice garden but this august I would not really recommend to visit this place. The greenery is not really green because of the heat and many parts of the garden are closed so you can just basically walk trough the garden but not even the fountains were working. If your age is below 25 (and you are from Europe ) and you want to chill in a park it’s cool cause you pay 2€ but I would not really recommend it. Many more places to see in this wonderful city. You see some nice views but don’t expect much from this garden this august

Went here early in the morning and got some amazing photos of the city and gardens. Not any flowers but a ton of cool statues as well as some nice fountains. It's the most nature I've seen in Italy so far across a few cities we've traveled.

Beautiful yet massive and challenging park for those persons with physical issues. However, a great place to visit for the day. So, just a cautionary tale if hiking is not the norm for you. It is either up, or down. Not much flat terrain, very limited seating/benches unless you are able to get down on the ground...bring your own blanket. Sloped paths, steep stairs. Bring water. (Also, not really the place for child strollers) The vistas of Florence are great from the high points of the Boboli Gardens. The fountains and sculptures are mesmerizing. History and architecture take the forefront here. First Sunday of the month, this is one of the places to visit for free in Italy. It was a good choice since the crowds are so dispersed throughout. The adjoining Palace wasn't that crowded either but we were too tired to tour after spending over 3 hours in the Gardens.

Absolutely beautiful gardens, very well maintained and kept. Great place to spend a nice sunny day or go for a nice long walk or hike. I spent an afternoon here walking around checking everything out, I was here in the early spring so I can image how much more beautiful it will look in the summer. There’s lots to do and see in and around this area. I really enjoyed my time here and I would definitely recommend checking it out.

A beautiful park with a wide variation of greenery, accompanied by diverse architecture of historical sites and sculptures. The park is massive so it’s perfect for a stroll to get some steps in with the fresh air. The trees put you in an ancient environment making it extremely exciting to walk around

Initially, I wasn't impressed by this huge garden, but upon exploring it, I found many wonderful nooks and crannies, with fantastic plants, interesting buildings and beautiful vistas. As mentioned, the garden is huge and you'll be doing a lot of walking. Additionally, a big part of the garden is very hilly, so you will be walking up or down steep slopes a lot. I don't recommend visiting if you have trouble walking in any way. There are a decent amount of benches and other sitting places, and there are free toilets as well. The toilets can take a while to reach, though, depending on where you are in the garden. I recommend visiting the garden early, when they open, and stay there until noon, if you want to see all of what the garden has to offer. As the garden is spacious, it does not feel as crowded as many places in Firenze do. If you don't have trouble walking, I wholly recommend visiting.

Nice place to visit. 10 Euros for visitors outside of Florence. Very long hill to climb up but great view. It’s interesting overall and should be on your list if you have a 90 to 120 min to spend here. We covered most at a fast pace because we were coming from our cruise port in Livorno (so really couldn’t spend enough time here to fully enjoy). Has a lot of statutes throughout. Nothing overly breathtaking though. The Palace could be great but we didn’t go through it.

This is a must do when in Florence! This garden/park is stunning. The way is well maintained and the beautiful statues around as well as other lots of details makes this place absolutely worth to visit. My daughter loved it too. We stopped in the park to rest a little and was mesmerized by the surroundings.

The most miserable gardens I have ever been to. Paths shut off, weeds aplenty and some really really depressing flower beds. The best looking part is by the entrance, but don't be fooled. The gardens could be lovely, but they are not. It's as if the €10 per person they are charging if going straight into someone's pocket and not towards upkeep. The view is nice but you can get a better one for free in other places in Florence.

Beautiful gardens, hedges and statues. Definitely a challenge for those who don't like hiking or a massive walk as there are many uphill and downhill sections with steep paths and stairs to climb and there are few flat parts to walk. Bring water and a hat as you'll be here for a while. Also, not really the place for child strollers. The view of Florence are great from the high point of the gardens, and sculptures are very interesting too.

I’m sure it was nice once. I’d say the former owners would be terribly sad to see it so run down. Weeds in the statues and only about 2 still work. If you want a hilly walk this is the place but you’re going to have to use your imagination on how grand it once was.

It's not worth neither the 13€, not your time. A large but very dull garden, poorly maintained. If gardens are not your thing just skip it , and if it is you most probably have visited far better and more beautiful ones. Save your precious time for the plethora of other world-class attractions Florence and Tuscany offers to a traveler.

A lovely park, which is beautifully laid out and home to a few statues. It contains romantic pathways and plant tunnels, which are fun to explore. It's €11 per person, which is a bit much for a park, even if it's lovely, as it doesn't contain any dedicated art pieces. However, if you're looking for a moment away from Florence's busy streets, this is a lovely green escape.

Beautiful place with an amazing view of the city at the top! Really worth the visit if you like nature and beautiful landscapes. There are also plenty of statues/sculptures along the gardens. Nice place for a stroll in a sunny afternoon.

Relax shade an discovery every time something different.... All the fountains, the labyrinths, statue are connected by the different stories lived here during the centuries

Beautiful gardens but not really worth the price if bought as a standalone entrance ticket. There are some parts of the garden which are temporarily closed such as Forte Belvedere. But the gardens have some maintenance work going on and has some viewpoints offering good views of the city.

Walking through the Boboli Gardens is walking through a piece of preserved history. This expansive garden park encompasses several architectural buildings, centuries-old sculpture, fountains, a pottery museum and several city overlooks with sweeping lawns and long hedgerows. There’s plenty of opportunity to exercise off the tiramisu with the bounty of stairways and long pathways. Make sure you get a map and wear comfortable shoes!

Amazing place! Must be on the visit list of tourists The garden is all green and its big size imposing Tickets are 10€ but the price is reduced to students and Europeans Navigation in the garden can be done through google maps so you dont get lost and miss any stop There are many entrances - make sure you get to one that is open (very important) There is also a map at the entrance that highlights key spots

Visited in September during the rain and it was lovely because there were no crowds! 10€ per person. Bring lots of water because there’s elevation and stair areas to explore on the grounds. Pro tip is to have a nice picnic and enjoy the views around you while wandering through the tall hedges. Also, at the very top is a wonderful secluded garden. You’ll have the opportunity to take panoramic photos. (When I visited this garden in 2015, the grass was much greener and taken care of. The flowers blooming were at the very top. There are plentiful fruit trees and lots of greenery with the hedges.)

We went in August which is perhaps not the best time to visit. Some of the ground were quite dry and it was really hot. The ticket is 10 EUR for an adult and free for children under 18. There are lovely views of the city from the gardens for sure. Although perhaps I would not call it gardens but a park. It is not maintained like some castle gardens around Europe. I would say is kind of the wilder side. The grounds are very large though so if you do want to see it all, you will need at least and hour and a half. It is a lot of climbing up and down so best to come when it's not 35 degrees outside. We did not see any places to grab a coffee or a drink inside the actual garden. There is a lovely small botanical garden as a part of the grounds. Some of the places were closed off for restoration. My lower rating really could be due to the time we visited. I believe in spring the park will be lovely.

I am so impressed with the beauty of these gardens. So much to see and admire, we visited in February so I can't imagine how beautiful it is in spring. There is a lot of vegetation, mini lakes, statues, endless walks that you can have in these marvellous gardens.

  • 3/5 Sem S. 3 years ago on Google
The gardens are obviously impressive. Especially given the history behind them. However, they look to be left without care when we visited. Might be due to corona but it did impact our visit a bit. I would understand this but the ticket price remained pretty high..

There's some decent views, but a lot of the fountains are switched off, and the museums were closed. Couldn’t find the cafe at all and I think €10 each is a bit steep for entry.

Stunning. Take some hay-fever tablets And something to cover your shoulders and forehead because it isn't exactly shaded in the majority of the garden. There is nowhere to eat in the gardens - which was an issue for my trip as I got half way round and had to hike back up a huge hill with my tummy rumbling. Also, couldn't find a clean water fountain anywhere so, be prepared if it's a hot day. If youre planning on sketching while you're there ( which I had) there are some shady areas under tunnels of trees and benches dotted around, usually near the sculptures. Its quite dusty so if you're planning on wearing Flip-flops, you've been warned One of the only places with flowers in the garden is closed most of the time with select opening times on (I think it was) Tuesday to Thursday.

Boboli park has great potential, unfortunately it seems to be lost glory. The statues are filty and the fountains are not working. Hedges not trimmed. Grass not clipped. Water of fountains are dirty. Footways are not kept up and concrete is worn. Hopefully the park uses the 13 ! Euros to revive the park. This has a real big potential. Offering some drinks could help in revenue. Big disappointment to me to be honest

The Boboli Gardens is a historical park of the city of Florence that was opened to the public in 1766. Originally designed for the Medici, it represents one of the first and most important examples of the Italian garden, which later served as inspiration for many European courts. The large green area is a real open-air museum with statues of various styles and periods, ancient and Renaissance that are distributed throughout the garden. It also has large fountains and caves, among them the splendid Buontalenti grotto built by the artist, architect, and sculptor Bernardo Buontalenti between 1536 and 1608.

Loved this place but would not recommend to wear sandals to visit. The gardens are quite big and it takes some time to see everything. It was too hot when we went, si be ready to have water with you. The fountains didn't have much maintenance and I felt this took away from the beauty of the complex altogether

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are seeing but when I was there in June 2022, I was not impressed. There really are no "gardens" and what little I saw were covered in weeds. Some of the fountains did not work or had algae in them. I've been to many gardens around the world and this was truly disappointing. This should not be called a garden; it should be called Boboli Grounds. Enjoy it for the palace and city in the background and the historical value but don't expect "gardens". And wear good walking shoes!

Went at the end of July. Would skip if I had to do it again. Generally underwhelming. The gardens are serene, but the layout doesn’t make for an enjoyable visit. There’s just too much space and not enough art. There’s also nowhere to sit. When we visited, the island was closed for some reason, which was what we wanted to see the most. The “meadow of columns” just has two columns. Feels like they had high hopes but ran out of money. There was a random statue sponsored by a makeup company. The Bardini Gardens nearby were a lot more enjoyable.

A must see of Florence. Our second visit, we wised up and gave ourselves more time to explore. We picked a rainy morning. And although that doesn't sound great, it was perfect. A nice stroll around every corner of the park under our umbrellas. We likely saw 95 of the park and it only took a few hours. It's lovely. Even if you're a go go go traveler (like me), do yourself the services of slowing down for a morning to enjoy this garden which has been loved for centuries.

Beautiful gardens that are worth a visit! Due to off season was 6 euro to enter - definitely less crowded than peak season but still on the busy end of the spectrum. Would plan to spend a minimum of 30-45m here and if you want to explore it all 1.5-2hrs.

The biggest challenge is to find the way out - signs are confusing, some exits and passages are closed. If you want to rest - try to find some benches, there are just few of them, seems like you are not welcomed to spend a lot of time there. In general the garden is not very well groomed, the part is fenced with an ugly fence, so you might get mixed feelings. Recommendations - visit when is not very hot, take a lot of water with you, be ready that the best part is couple of panoramic photos of Florence

Unfortunately, when we arrived the car park at the entrance was closed off, so we had quite the difficulty getting there to begin with. As for the garden itself: it's a must-see when you're in Florence. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here, walking through the lemon garden, the botanical garden or the monkey fountain at the very top with an amazing view over Tuscany. One thing I will point out is that you need a certain fitness level to be able to navigate the entire park. I was struggling quite a bit as the paths were very steep but in the end it was worth it for me personally.

Such a huge nice garden with stunning views. We bought a ticket for Pitti Palace & Boboli Gardens. I think the price (14€) is fair. It is really huge garden with ups and downs. The weather was so cloudy and sometimes rainy when we were there but it has different taste anyway. The palace also has lots of museums and masterpieces inside. I recommend you to check this place.

(Translated by Google) A place of enchanting beauty and light-heartedness. The garden is a classic Italian style, which was in continuous expansion and enrichment by the doctors until 800 with the Lorraine and which was taken as inspiration to create important gardens including those of Versailles. It is an important open-air work full of statues, fountains and other majesties (obelisk imported from Luxor). The Grotta grande and the kaffeehouse have a strong impact. The entrance is from Palazzo Pitti and the visit lasts at least 4 hours. So I definitely recommend comfortable shoes and a water bottle. Quindi consiglio sicuramente scarpe comode e borraccia.

(Translated by Google) It is the garden accessible through the Pitti palace, the Medici were the first to take care of its arrangement, making it an example for the gardens of the European courts. It consists of ancient and Renaissance statues, and large fountains such as that of Neptune and the Ocean. The visit of the Boboli Gardens is complementary to the visit of the Pitti Palace, I recommend a visit if there is time left after visiting the Pitti Palace.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful place. Inside the Pitti Palace complex, I had the privilege of visiting it as soon as the lockdown was over. Back then, there were very few tourists. A dream vision. The garden is large, and there are some tapes to linger, to visit some buildings or admire the landscape. Then before going back, the pond. It takes at least 2 hours to do it calmly. Ci vogliono minimo 2 ore per farlo con calma.

(Translated by Google) Sublime park in Florence even if I must admit that it does not stand the comparison with Parisian gardens like the Luxembourg garden. It is nevertheless a beautiful, well-kept place with a great view of the city. It took me about 1.5 hours to visit it. There is an incredible cave within it. Beautiful! The walk is long and not for the faint-hearted. Take comfortable shoes and a water bottle… enjoy your walk.

  • 3/5 Liana G. 2 years ago on Google
We were reluctant to visit the gardens based on some reviews that they are not well taken care of However :), we loved the walk in the gardens - the tall vegetation, the alleys, the natural style, still it was more of a park than a garden and quite sloppy at times A must see is the grotte of Buontalenti, however we felt you could easily miss it as the signs pointing to it were quite subtle. Still, giving only 3 stars to this garden as we were disappointed by the lack of information about any of the statues. There were no flyers to take, only possibility was to scan a qr code for a map of the place. All in all, I would recommend this only if you research yourself in advance and if you love sloppy walks PS. Better buy the ticket on the spot - 10eur/ adult vs 13 online

We had got the combo tickets that included Uffizi, Palazo Pitti & Boboli gardens. I would rate Boboli gardens the lowest among them. It's a nice park with many walking paths and monuments but nothing that stood out.

Incredibly huge and beautiful park. Entrance is through the gate of Palazzo Pitti, 10 EUR, take comfy shoes and start exploring! It has botanical gardens, fountains, statues and lovely view. At least 2 hours of nature guaranteed.

  • 5/5 Josef G. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful gardens where you need at least two plus hours to explore. Steep inclines so make sure you are in good physical fit state and wear comfy shoes. True - gardens could use some upkeep but place is huge and likely will need huge investments as well to truly shine. Nonetheless place even in current state is very impressive.

Nice PARC. There was no flower or à lot of variety of plants. It really looked more like a Parc than a garden to me, but it was nice and they have WATER FOUNTAINS thank God

Nice and well kept park. The tickets for students (18-24 years old) cost 2 euros. Many entrances are closed because of covid. The park is closed on Mondays! Right now many parts are under construction and the cafe there is also closed.

The Boboli Gardens in Florence, is home to a group of sculptures dating back to the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, in addition to containing some Roman ruins. The Boboli Gardens in Florence are located behind the Pitti Palace, the main residence of the Medici rulers of Florence between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. The park is one of the most famous tourist places in Florence.

For those that consider skipping this, I would recommend adding it to your agenda. It’s an absolutely incredible ‘back yard’. It rivals Versailles. I would recommend planning to spend 1-2 hours in order to experience it. It is open on Monday, when most of the museums, including Pitti Palace, are closed.

One of the most enchanting and fascinating places in Florence. Large and architecturally magnificent garden in the middle of the center of Florence. Incredible history and one of the greatest tourist attractions in the entire city, totally deserves a visit. Be aware of the terrain, bring comfy shoes and be also aware of the weather, I suggest going on sunnier days and of course, not right after it has rained. MUST SEE IN FLORENCE THOUGH

Really big place. You could walk for hours and never be in the same place twice. I think the hubby and I walked a good 2 miles probably. Lots of picturesque spots of Florence. Not handicap friendly, I will say. Some big hills and a good amount of stairs throughout the property. Not a problem for us but we did notice a family trying to figure out how to get their family member in a wheelchair up the big hill on gravel.

Some fun areas inside explore with some take nice vistas of Florence. The gentleman's pavilion was particularly nice. Takes an hour or so to completely wander if you are in reasonable shape. There are some relatively steep inclines. Not a lot was in bloom when we were there in April but since impending thunder storms made for some excellent lighting conditions for vista photos.

  • 5/5 Nikola B. 10 months ago on Google
Very beautiful garden. You can take a nice walk along the park or enjoy the nice weather by sitting on a bench or on the grass. Lots of fountains and the Gentleman’s palace is beautiful. You have to pay for the entry, however the first Sunday of the month it’s free

Loved this place for some peace and quiet. We went on a hot day, and the hike up all of the stairs and hills was treacherous, but worth it. I wish there was a drinking water fountain at the top or something. Exiting the place was confusing.

Such a relaxing walk. The views from the top are stunning... We missed it last year as we didn't realised it closed on a Monday so this time round we made sure we went on another day and as gardening lovers, we really enjoyed seeing everything in bloom!

  • 5/5 Emmah S. 10 months ago on Google
Today we went to the Palace and Gardens, it was so gorgeous! We spent around 3 hours and couldn’t get through it all. If coming in summer be prepared with lots of water. Quite a lot of steps and hills to climb. But we’ll worth a visit :)

Visited in April and it did not disappoint! We hadn't really planned to visit but we happened to see a sign for it while we were walking around and for 10 Euros we decided to go for it. The panoramic city views at the top are magnificent and well worth the walk. The bar the top is quite expensive (from memory around 12 euro's for a drink) so we decided against stopping for one. However, this offered a great break from the city below and the grounds were beautifully maintained.

Beautiful gardens with great vistas. These gardens are quite accessible by walking. The space allowed for a lot of visitors without feeling crowded. The palace at the gardens is worthwhile visiting as it has many examples of decor, such as curtains, lighting, furniture and of course art. It is easy to imagine the gatherings that must have occurred at this opulent palace and gardens.

Boboli Gardens in Florence is an excellent place to visit. It offers a wonderful blend of natural beauty and tranquility. The gardens boast a stunning design and breathtaking views, making them one of the most captivating tourist attractions in the city. Beautiful space! We spent our time walking to the top and walking back down. There are a lot of areas to sit and relax in along the path and on the grass. We went closer to closing so we can see the sun go down, definitely worth it for the view!
