In 1891 the inauguration of the psychiatric hospital of San Salvi. In 1978 with the "Basaglia Law" the closure of the mental hospital began. At the time I was 14 years old and that area was limited for me, I lived nearby, but my parents didn't want me to go looking around. Today, walking inside the neighborhood, you can hear from afar the screams coming from the abandoned buildings, in the silence of this corner of Florence

The park is beautiful in all seasons. It is possible to retrace the history of the asylum by walking along the avenues. Signs have been placed near each building explaining what they were used for. The route of the female guests' buildings is very interesting.

The second largest park in Florence after the Cascine, a historic place in Florence, a little decadent in some places, under renovation in others. You can still breathe the voices of the madmen who were housed in the mental hospital and the poems of Dino Campana. I live thanks also to the commitment of Chille de la Balanza, with his meetings, shows and concerts. It also hosts the Vigilandia route.

Beautiful green space with centuries-old trees, the dog area is perhaps the most beautiful of all in Florence

(Translated by Google) A madness that is perpetuated over time, now it is no longer a madhouse but the "madness" is still there. Big beautiful and also well maintained, rather limited parking spaces and above all many pavilions, all well numbered and with indications for use. In practice, each pavilion has a name eg. The Owls which then do not appear in the signs.

(Translated by Google) And in a nice green area of the neighborhood. Too bad it is badly kept and there are still many people who leave the dog loose, free to do the needs where it happens and worse NOT collecting their "souvenirs", making those who behave civilly pass badly. It will turn out that they will forbid entry to our furry ones I remember that it is a sanitary air ...
