I stayed here on a quick trip to Florence- only 2 nights. Overall, the experience was great! The beds were comfortable, the inside of the hostel was beautiful and spacious, and the lockers were huge- big enough to fit my large travel backpack. The hostel is located inside of a historic building in Florence right next to the river and the dorms seem to be old convent dormitories! Very cool! However, I was incredibly disappointed in some of the staff. The woman working the front desk was rude, charged more than what we should have paid, and patronized me constantly. It was pretty evident that she hated her job or hated Americans (or both haha!). I talked to other guests in the hostel and they said she treated them just as poorly. The bathrooms do not lock- very weird- and there is a constant noise that sounds like a tea kettle all the time! You are required to drop off the keys, which unlock the room AND your personal locker, at the front desk whenever you leave the premise. I was unsettled by this because my valuables, including my passport, could be unlocked by anyone when I was not around. I will say I personally found the place to be incredibly clean, but I didn’t use the kitchen so I can’t speak on that. My experience was great if you disregard those few minor things and the location can’t be beat! I definitely recommend staying here, but if you are a female alone, perhaps consider somewhere with locks on the restroom doors.

I was surprised about my stay because I read a lot of nice reviews. Upon checking in the woman (blanking on her name) was just..not very pleasant. Just didn’t seem like she wanted to help, maybe rude is too harsh to say. But didn’t give me any info and then acted like I was dumb and annoying for asking questions like where the room was and what the wifi is. I had booked and paid online but she told me my card failed and made me pay again. Well turns out, I did end up paying twice. When I asked someone about this, first person told me to come back in the morning. Went back in the morning and the manager blamed it on the website I booked through, insisting I only paid them once. Even though I showed clearly being charged twice. Did not give any money back for it so now I’m just out the money.. I was in a mixed dorm. The bathrooms DO NOT LOCK. When I asked about this, the woman at reception told me it was because of the police?? That doesn’t make any sense. I’ve stayed in A LOT of hostels. All have had locking bathrooms. Really weird and uncomfortable especially in a mixed dorm. Didn’t shower in fear of a man walking in and seeing me naked. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone, there are better places for similar rates.

It's an okay hostel to my experience. -The beds are comfortable but the cleaning is not the best. -No soaps in the toilets of the rooms, very weird especially during you-know-what-it-is (luckily we had our own) -We did not use the kitchen, so I cannot say anything about it. -The staff acts like they hate you or they do not want to be there. My bed was missing a sheet and they refused to give me one because I didn't have the towel set included in my booking. I cannot see the relevance but I assume they do not understand English well. -The two positive sides of this hostel are (1) the interior is really nice and (2) its location is very close to the central areas in the city.

I will begin by saying if you are looking for a hostel with all the bells and whistles, this is NOT the place for you! I loved this hostel because it was attached to the church so it was so unique and different from any other hostel I've stayed at! The front desk ladies were great (treat people the way you want to be treated!) Finding the front entrance was a little difficult, it is a small door located three doors to the left of the big church doors (when looking at the church) Regarding AC, there were fans in the rooms (I came in September so not scorching hot) and the bunk beds were incredible! Very spacious and plug-ins at every bed. Great common spaces (courtyard and outside seating from kitchen)

WARRING!!! BED BUGS ON THE BEDS!!! My girlfiend and me were on the hostel the last weekend (October 6th) and we had all the body with bed bugs bites. This is the first time we had the experience like that, we are genuinely disgusted. If beds are done carefully and there is hygenic standard, this things would not happen. Also we need to deep clean our apartment because we are afraid of contamination in our home via clothes we had during our staying. We tried to give advice about this incident to the hostel and they didn't care about it. We don't recomend to stay here if you want to have a good nights after your trip or have solutions to your problems.

All the last 5* reviews are bots. Rude receptionist, little breakfast and everything is extra. Not cheap at the end . Good location and historical place.

The location is the only positive point about this property. Most of the staffs are always busy on phone, will not entertain you much. They didn't even allow me to use the washroom before the check in time. One has to pay to use the luggage storage, which is basically there storage room. After exploring the property from inside, I thought it was once a part of some church. they still have old paintings and people who like these kind of experiment it is a good property to leave, for me and also for my hostel roommates, it was really creepy. I had booked a bed in a six person dorm room along with breakfast. Never had the opportunity to avail the breakfast option because they serve it from 9:30 am. I can keep on saying many negative points but I again if you like heritage property, you will love it. I can visit a heritage property but can't live in it😅

The room was nice however, the air conditioning didn’t work after telling reception multiple times. My key was lost and couldn’t be found until, my money was stolen out of my room and I complained, then it mysterious shown up after saying I need to report it to the police. They wouldn’t sort any problems.

FULL OF BEDBUGS!!!!! Overall, the hostel seemed ok and with a great location. HOWEVER, at night I was really bothered by insects. I thought it was mosquitoes but the day I got home I noticed multiple bites on my arms and FACE and I discovered a BEDBUG in my bag. I had to hire a whole extermination service, for 1000€. I told the hostel about it but they claim I probably got it elsewhere (...I only travelled to the hostel). I wish I'd known this before. I really advise you to avoid this hostel, whatever it takes.

Beautiful hostel inside of an old church Oratorium for San Salvatore in Ognissanti. The front desk is 24 hours and right on the street level, and the hostel itself is deep inside the Oratorium. It’s really cool to walk past ancient frescoes on the way to your dorm. There’s a basic kitchen with a big dining area and 2 courtyards that seem to be open all night. The bed set up is actually amazing. It’s one of the only hostels that I would prefer top bunk! It’s like a little apartment nook up there with proper stairs and charging stations. I found the bars around the bed quite useful for hanging my laundry. They staff are very nice as well. The website is a bit messy, but the front desk is always available by phone call. (The number is given after you made a booking.) It’s truely a classic hostel in the sense that it doesn’t have party hostel vibes and doesn’t have too many activities. It’s a very laid hostel with an excellent location. Highly recommended.

My complaint about this hostel is the way I was treated by the lady at the reception desk. When I was checking in and she saw my passport was from American and her immediate reaction was “ugh an American”. She proceeded to play it off by saying it was a joke, but continued to talk about me in Italian, not knowing I speak Italian also and could understand what she was saying. Later I asked to rent a towel and she over charged me 4 extra euros, saying there was tax on the towel even though there is sign clearly saying to rent a towel was 4 euros. I normally never write reviews, but i’ve traveled to many hostels and never been treated like this. I was only staying in the hostel for one night so it was fine, but if I were staying longer I would not stay here because of the service. I’m sure the stay is more pleasant if you aren’t American. The hostel itself was pretty and the location was good. There were multiple stains on my bed so that was gross. I was traveling solo as a female and felt safe here. They provide lockers and locks for your stuff.

I use to travel around places in hotels. I been in all type of hostels . I Can tell this is one of my worst experience. Receptionist having a bad attitude and been condescending. Secondly rooms where dirty and low care. Be carefully because one of the night might be cancelled. Online Customer service of course is terrible. They will send you an email showing website where you can interact with customer service. After 5 emails and several calls attempt trying to contact someone I just have to stop trying. No answer on any way. Definitely if you wan to enjoy the city without having stress regarding where to sleep and the conditions, look different place . Price is what people is convinced about this place. But definitely at the end you will regret have saved that money for what you have. Ar emote options similar price in the city

Very expensive hostel when I booked 60€ a night. For what I was paying I was not happy with this place as: - No soap in toilet. - Insects/ mosquitoes in bed.

Totally not worth the money. I almost missed the train because hostel was closed in the middle of the day and I had to pick up my luggage. I tried to call the number written on the door, couldn’t reach anyone, it turned out it was WhatsApp only. Bathroom lock in the room was broken. People stay up late in the garden and you could hear everything from open window so if you are light sleeper it’s not the best place for you. Breakfast was really simple, just coffee and croissant and late as well between 9.30-10.30.

It was a wonderful experience.. an add on for my visit to florence .. the location was very central .. you can go to ponte Vecchio in 3 min. Walking and to the train station in 5 min. Walking .. the place was good .. dorm was clean .. and it is very quite as it is too big so that nobody distributes and bothers the others .. the great hospitality of Meriem was a very good reason for me to love the place more .. it will be a good recommendation to spend a night in florence with about 40 euros only .. At the end .. Thank you Meriem .. you will one of the reasons that will make me choose this place again in my next visit to florence.

Except the air dryer not working in my room, nothing much to complain. It is inside a lovely church or abbey. I stayed in female dorm. Very spacious n comfy bed. But wish they could have a spare hair dryer to borrow as i can see it is not day one the hair dryer was broken.

I thought this hostel was great. The beds and rooms were so nice and actually provided some privacy. The lockers were also very spacious and there were two bathrooms in each room which was really nice. My only complaint was the staff sucked. There were multiple times I asked for help on certain things and they would say they were going to help and then just never did. Half they time they would just be on their phone at the front desk and then be annoyed if you needed anything.

Beautiful and peaceful oasis in a busy city. Clean. Complimentary croissant, coffee, towel, shampoo, and locker key. Walking distance to all the main attractions. Nice neighborhood.

Positive: - the room is spacious - it has nice view to the garden - hotel location is amazing connected to a church so beautiful, just in front of the arno river Negative: - They charged 4 euros extra per bag if you want to leave it with them, which i find quite pricey - facilities are not very clean - bathroom has a funky smell which is very annoying - only one bathroom which include toilet inside per dorm (difficult to go to the toilet when someone occupies the bathroom ) - bed is not private at all, no curtain whatsoever -No ac as far i see, we went when it was not summer so it's ok, but when it's summer when you need to open the window and mosquitoes are everywhere its hell. No towels provided like every hostel, but you can get a kit with them for 5 or 6 euros ( quite cheap)

Finding the front entrance was a little difficult, It is a small door located three doors to the left of the big church doors (when looking at the church). However, the room is perfect and price is reasonable.

Sharing a dorm with 24 people can be rough, but this hostel made it as bad as it possibly can be. There are unfinished walls with door gaps and holes at the top shielding the beds from the lockers. Great idea, except it prevents night arrivals and drunk people from realising they're screaming in the middle of a bedroom. What's worse: there is a bright automatic light that goes on by motion and then stays on for 10 minutes, and if you're in the top bunk, it shines right on your face, ALL NIGHT LONG. Staff does try to be friendly, the location is beautiful, and I did not encounter any bugs. But these were some of the worst nights of sleep of my entire life.

They want $50+ for the pleasure of sweating through the night worse than when I had COVID. Seriously, it’s an attic that traps heat and they give you a cheap little fan to make up for the lack of air conditioning while it’s easily 30 degrees in the room. And then breakfast is a croissant only available from 9-10?? This place is a borderline scam.

Absolutely gorgeous, best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It is inside of a monastery so you walk past the beautiful inner courtyard and the church on the way to your room. The 6-bed mixed dorm had no air conditioning but large beds with stairs leading up to your own little loft. Would absolutely recommend this place

No good at all. Due to a problem.there is no water at all, so no shower or even washing your hands. They could have placed extra bottles of water in the rooms just to help a bit. Today it is very warm, over 36 ° C. Airco is old and barely works. I am very upset i booked this hostel !!

If I could give this hostel less than 1 star I would but I guess I’ll have to accept 1 star. Amazingly unhelpful staff who did next to nothing to help us with a booking issue we had. The website is poorly laid out and unclear about how many people you are booking for and what type of room. After some confusion we found there was an issue with our booking. Despite trying to cancel our booking within 24 hrs, the hostel repeatedly ignored our emails and went out of their way to make it more difficult. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING HOMELESS RATHER THAN STAYING HERE

Excellent location! You can get to most attractions by walking. And the facility is also good! Delicious breakfast.

Air conditioning not working, impossible to breathe. Too much noise from the locker room. Way too pricey for a hostel (50€ for the night...). It's my first night here and I should have checked the Google reviews before trusting booking. People should not be allowed to enter after 1 a.m, too much noise and disturbance. On my last night, mosquitos and bed bugs...

Beware of scams - I made an online reservation and everything seemed fine. When I arrived to check-in the receptionist didin't speak English (or pretended not to) and they overcharged the price I had on the email confirmation. I got in touch with NGH customer service and was totaly ignored.

Really nice Hostel in a very good location right next to the river and close to everything. Staff was really nice, especially Hamza who helped us a lot at the reception.
