The Horne museum was much larger than I anticipated and was quite lovely. Its collection is very well preserved and displayed. It has lots of works for art, antiques, statues and paintings to see. It’s very historical and educational, I really enjoyed my time here. I would definitely recommend visiting this lovely museum.

We came upon the Horne Museum completely by chance. It was open on Monday when the Uffizi was closed and we had the place totally to ourselves!! The ticket price was very reasonable and the staff super friendly and accommodating. The collection was incredible, if you are not hung up on the top famous artists.

(Translated by Google) Private museum Downtown Very friendly staff, explains everything in a very simple and understandable way There are many paintings by the school of Giotto, but what to pay special attention to is the furniture.

The Horne Museum is a minor museum in Florence that aims to reconstruct an ancient Florentine house between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The palace once stood in an area owned by the Fagni family, which then passed to the Alberti family in the mid-14th century and was purchased by the Corsi family at the end of the 15th century. In 1912 it was purchased by its last owner, the English art historian Herbert P. Horne, who restored it to give it the appearance of an early Renaissance palace and furnished it with works and antique furniture from his collection. Upon his death Horne left the palace to the Italian state and a foundation was established to take care of the works of art kept inside to allow them to be used by the public. The Horne Museum offers visitors a notable number of antiques, sculptures and ancient paintings, among which a panel with Saint Stephen created by Giotto stands out. The palace overlooks Via dei Benci, has an atrium on the ground floor, the noble rooms on the first floor and some service rooms for domestic work (such as the kitchen) on the second floor. Very interesting and educational to visit.

This small and very interesting museum is located in the historical Palazzo Corsi. The place is almost untouched by the crowds of tourists and you can easily find yourself alone in the rooms full of paintings, sculptures, with several pieces of original furniture. The staff is kind and helpful, the only downside is the cumbersome labeling of the pieces.
