Lovely hostel with super friendly staff, nice and clean rooms and good prices in the bar. The location is quite good, 20 min walk from the Florence cathedral with a supermarket about a 5 min walk. There is public parking space in front and around the hostel costing 2€ for 1 hour. The charge is only between 8am and 8pm. We arrived at 5pm and paid 10€ for 5 hours of parking and the system automatically rolled over our 2 hours from the end of the day to the beginning of the next one which is quite convenient. The room (we stayed in a 6 bed mix dorm room) was very nice and well equipped. There are lockers (roughly about 1m x 0.4m x 0.5m) but you’ll have to have a lock to secure it (the reception has these in case you forgot yours). The bed had fresh sheets but no towels, so make sure to bring your own. Our room had an en-suite bathroom and toilet with a couple more toilets on the corridor in case yours is occupied. The shower is a bit of a mess, as the water doesn’t drain fast enough, it leaks into the the toilet area and eventually into the room. This might be something for management to address. The staff is extremely helpful, speaking fluent english (and from what I could tell other languages as well) and will help you with literally any questions. They are all locals, or have at least stayed in Firenze for a while, so they know their way around. Great staff like this makes great hostels. 👏 We only stayed for 1 night so didn’t have a chance to check out the rooftop pool but only heard good things about it. Generally the vibe of the hostel is amazing, lots of young people with things to do every night so in case you’re travelling solo there will be opportunities to meet new people.

By far my favorite hostel I've stayed at! The all female dorm room was spacious and very clean, the environment is fun and welcoming, drinks and food are cheap and delicious. It was a roughly 20-25 minute walk from the main downtown area which I had no problem with. As a solo traveler, it created the perfect environment for me to make friends and have such the most incredible time. Will definitely be coming back here!

Very good Hostel! Really loving my stay here, not regretting at all, staff is amazing, Ivan really helped me a lot with my reservation and all they always plan nice things for us to do. The facilities are AMAZING, love the place in general! Some things need to be improved asap though, like the bathrooms in the collective bedrooms: they are always wet and a little dirty, it's hard to get dressed since there's only a lock in a very small portion of the bathroom and there is no place in the bathroom to put the clothes so they tend to get wet during showering. Things to improve since the hostel is very new! In general a nice stay though

The hostel is very fun and lively. I enjoyed the breakfast, the beds were comfy and clean, there was a fun night life, great outdoor and indoor seating areas, and the staff were super friendly. However, there seemed to be bit of a mosquito problem as 2 members of my party had to be moved out of their original room due to being excessively bitten (the staff was very nice about this), as well as the shower smelled like urine. Overall this hostel felt very safe and I would definitely check out the other Yellow Square Hostels in different cities!

The hostel was absolutely clean and tidy. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming. We were attended by Epifanios who was very friendly and made us feel home. The environment of the hostel was very lively and energetic. The hostel keeps hosting various fun activities and events to keep their guests entertained. Its a shame we were there only for one night. Would highly recommend. They also had a rooftop pool which would have been fun during summers.

I missed my flight and was immediately welcomed and made feel safe by the staff and everyone staying at the hostel. They organize little activities which is great for meeting everyone. The bar and food prices are very cheap and the hostel in general is a very clean and artsy place. Definitely recommend!!!!

We had a amazing stay here for 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was big and we had plenty of room. The bathroom/shower situation are slightly annoying as they are in one and despite the shower-mat water goes everywhere. It would be helpful as well to have a towel supplied as well for after washing hands. Fun atmosphere and pool was a game changer on the extremely hot days we had. Staff were all lovely, we found a few issues ordering drinks at the bar, it took a while and they kept serving the same people over again despite us waiting in a line behind. Thanks for a fab stay. We walked/took tram to town. It stops at 0200am though so definitely taxi home. Wasn’t the safest walk at night.

Everything was perfect and beyond my expectations. As soon as I arrived at the desk to check in ,the guy working there was very helpful a d gave me all the informations needed. They even gave me a Free beer as a welcome The Hostel it's very clean and all the equipment are new. I was amazed by the organization that the staff did with different activities such as group games, bag painting or karaoke. It's the perfect place for solo traveler's because u have the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and it's very easy

Me and my girlfriend were staying at the hostel for 4 nights and 5 days. We had a great time throughout our stay. All the guests were respectful, accommodating and friendly. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and the bar at the hostel were very convenient although I would have appreciated that the breakfast was a little more cheaper. I would have liked for the bathrooms to be a little more cleaner. All the activities organized in the evenings were a nice way to close the day.

We had a great experience from start to finish. The place itself is awesome-great bar/hangout area in lobby. Welcoming outdoor hang area. The kitchen was massive. There are large locking storage options if you need to leave your baggage. Pool is nice, a little small but there is a bar & it’s a rooftop view. They seem to do a lot of activities & I was grateful for the free beer, free sangria & the hosts were all so very nice.

Wonderful! So clean and amazing staff. Great food too. Amazing location and very easy to get on tram. Love the bar area and common room. Definitely will be returning during the summer so I can use the outside areas!

The rooms were nice and clean, same as the bathroom and shower. The location is a little ways from the city center (about a 30 minute walk), however there is a tram right up the road that takes you in with ease. The hostel plans out some very fun events that I loved participating in. The variety in what was planned is also nice.

Great rooms and amenities. There is a towel warmer in the bathroom which was a lovely touch. Stayed in a private room for 4. The environment in the common areas was very conducive for making friends. Everything was pretty clean and the building looks newer. The staff was super helpful. There are luggage lockers that can be used to store stuff before you check in ir after you check out so you can explore Florence. Definitely nicer than the Rome location. Would recommend for anyone traveling on a budget who wants to meet people!

The art in this place and the dope layout of the rooms was awesome! It made our travels that much more enjoyable. It’s a quick tram ride from the city center, which was very easy. We loved that the registration desk was connected to the bar, and we love the activities that were offered through the hostel. We love love loved our stay, and shout out to the people working there that made it even better!

Really great hostel experience. Beds were great/ clean rooms and bathroom. The staff was so welcoming and nice. Also the people I met were all friendly and we ended up all hanging out with each other. Love the free first drink. Lobby and outdoor seating was comfortable and perfect place to relax after traveling. Bad things: I do wish it were in the city center. It can be a long walk back at night. One night the mosquitoes were soooo bad in one of the rooms I stayed in, I couldn't sleep. I ended up changing rooms where this wasn't a problem. Pool could be cleaner

It's a lovely place to stay! Although not in the center, it's easily accessible by a short walk (20mins) or taking the tram 2. The hostel is wonderfully modern with charming rooms, and the bar/cafe/food corner adds to the enjoyable experience. During my five-night stay in a 4-bed dorm, I had other guests in my room for only one night, so I had plenty of privacy. I highly recommend it!

Perfect in every way! We are 71 and 65 and old-time hostellers...never expected such a lovely, SUPER-equipped (both in bathroom and kitchen) hostel. We were a bit the grandparents there during our stay, but loved socializing with all the young folks! REALLY friendly, efficient staff; comfortable, immaculate rooms; rooftop swimming pool and view of Florence; our stay was worth every penny! Thank you Yellow Square!!

  • 4/5 Luke B. 4 months ago on Google
Great location, access by foot or tram to train station and historic city center. Nearby restaurants and cafes. The bag check is NOT SECURE. Customers picking up their bag are allowed, unsupervised, into the bag check room to take whatever bag they want. They need to get serious about using the luggage tags. This is lazy. The comforter is NOT CLEANED between guests. I watched an employee change the sheets, and apparently all they bother to do with the comforter is just fold it. No cleaning whatsoever. So that's gross. Rooms on the first floor experience excessive noise from the trivia night hullabaloo. Free pasta and good espresso for a reasonable price.

As a solo female traveler, this accommodation was wonderful. Check-in was fast and easy. The room was clean, organized, and well thought-out. The social atmosphere here was very comfortable, accepting, friendly, and fun. The bar/cafe staff was great. Check-out was also easy. They stored my luggage after check-out until later in the day. Outdoor space was relaxing. Bonus: My taxi driver at the airport knew exactly where the Yellow Square was (must be a popular destination).

The best Hostel I have ever stayed in!!♥️ The staff are friendly, the facilities are complete, and there are different activities every day. Even if Florence is too quiet at night, you can still find fun in this hostel! (The shower room in the room has shampoo, shower gel and hair dryer!)

Had a blast in YellowSquare. Excellent room facilities although the ladder is not the most foot-friendly and superbly clean. It features a great common area - indoor and outdoor. Staff are pros although not lacking a bit in conviviality (but we are in Italy it's understandable). I would say the location is convenient even though not in the city's most lively neighborhood.

Hostel was a bit pricey however it was well and truly worth it and I had booked last minute. The hostel is new and modern and the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the rooftop bar and pool is a bonus. Plus everybody gets a free beer coupon and 20% off drinks. Was also only a 20 minute walk into the city which was fine.

This was one of the best hostels I've ever been to. The rooms are well thought-out, comfortable, and clean, and the common spaces have everything needed for a great stay. The atmosphere was incredible and very social, and I had no trouble making new friends here! It is only a 20 minute walk from the center or a short tram ride away. Definitely recommend staying here!

I had a good time in this hostel, the facilities are very nice, both in reception and in the room, everything is modern. Just the bathroom could have a stool/bench to place things, that would make it easier. The hostel also organizes events so travellers can meet each other, which is nice. The club downstairs can get loud at night, so I used the noise cancelling bud provided by them and was fine after that.

I loved the energy of this hostel! Check in was easy and smooth, and the bar was great and super convenient. I took part in the basement dance parties, and the team games and both were really fun and a great way to meet people in the hostel! I made a lot of friends staying here!

Good facilities and friendly staff. Great layout, and a cool nightclub area. Water pressure for the shower was a quite low but you work with it. A little bit of a walk to the station and the main square but it is fine for the most part. Definitely worth a stay.

Since the moment I arrived the manager (Monica) helped me with my luggage and the staff (Ale and Epi) made me feel right at home. I came to Firenze for work and stayed at the Yellow for a total of two weeks so I got a good feel for this hostel. The staff are absolutely amazing! They are all so friendly, approachable, and hospitable. The hostel is very new, clean, and not lacking in things to do because besides from the beautiful city they always organize new social events weekly. It is very central to the plaza, museums and galleries and it is in a very nice neighbourhood. I met other guests that were travelling with a friend or solo and most of them were young from late teens to thirties, as a young female travelling solo I always felt safe and would definitely recommend!

So the hostel looks nice. The pool and bar are great. The staff was friendly and the events were fun. But it seems like everything was just… cheap. The locker was problematic, the elevator broke one day, the beds have a super loud metal sound if you accidentally press on them. And the bathrooms. So so poorly designed. No area to change because the stalls are so tiny. And then there’s no lock on the bathroom door… so good luck! The toilet stall was so tiny and the door opened inward making it so awkward to wiggle out. Because there’s no downward slope or lifted edge, it’s impossible to not get water everywhere when you shower. It made the entire bathroom floor wet and dirty. It seemed like there was no thought put into the function of the bathrooms. Also, on the listing it said there was laundry, which I was really counting on. And it said there was a club. Neither existed. I get this hostel is new and you guys said they’re not ready yet, but then don’t advertise them yet. I paid for the promise of those things. Also, the events were fun and I did meet people that way. But otherwise, there are honestly too many common areas downstairs that are too spread out. And so, traveling alone, there wasn’t a central gathering place where I could meet others. I didn’t know who were random groups I could join, who were friends, etc.

Decent hostel. Clean and comfortable beds, great staff, in-house kitchen is decent. If you’re looking for a smaller, personal place, this is not quite that. The facilities are very nice, but this is a big hostel and there are a lot of people coming and going. Only complaints in the rooms were the metal beds and bed frames, which were creaky, and the bathroom setups which had a toilet stall and shower side by side which meant that literally everything gets wet when the shower is used. Also this location is relatively new so be warned they may not have all the amenities that the website/ hostelworld says. When we were there, the basement bar, laundry, cooking class kitchens, and rooftop bar were not finished which was disappointing. Edit after reply: had a great time there either way. Thanks for a great stay!

Pool and common area is great, lovely staff, amazing events every night to meet new friends. Place is very clean and good location. Only downside is the bathroom might get flooded at times when showering for too long. Still, the best hostel I have ever stayed in.

  • 3/5 J A. 1 year ago on Google
This hostel was really nice, very clean and the staff was so kind and helpful. The outside patio/rooftop pool was very clean and lovely- the biggest problem was the room. The bunks were made out of this awful metal/steel and so every time I or a roommate moved in bed and hit the wall, it was really loud and bizarre, felt like I was in a shipping container. Also, the bathrooms are just …. unacceptable. The concept of not having a proper shower and having the entire bathroom being the shower is disgusting. There was standing water on our floor our entire stay, and naturally it seeped out and flooded the area outside of the bathroom, soaking our towels and clothes (see vid). This is also EXTREMELY dangerous because there are electrical outlets very close to the floor. Lastly, 2 of our friends had a male staff member enter their room unannounced while they were changing. They told him to leave, and he did, and came back (again, unannounced) moments later because he “forgot something”. Our friends complained to the front desk, and they shrugged it off saying “it’s not a private room”. It doesn’t matter - you CAN NOT have male staff members entering female rooms unannounced. Not okay. This is very concerning that their privacy and comfort was not taken seriously. Other than these issues, our stay was very nice, and the rest of the hostel was very enjoyable.

One of the worst websites I've used needs to be improved. In the dorms when you shower it covers the toilet room floor in water so it's always wet very poor design. Lots of wasted space in the dorm with all the beds connected and made with thin metal that is loud and vibrates whenever it's touched and wakes everyone up. A couple cheaper options on the menu would also be good for people traveling on a budget. Staff was great and the place was nice and new and fairly clean except for the water all of the bathrooms. Location good too.

We stayed in a private room, overall it was nice and fit all of our needs. Although, there were a couple things that could be improved. The biggest thing was that the house keeping staff did not respect the sign that says do not come in. No one was walked in on, but if we were in the room at the time it would have happened. Also, more hooks in the bathroom for towels and miscellaneous items would be a good addition. The air conditioning was not consistent throughout our stay. One night it would be freezing (which was greatly appreciated) but the next was extremely hot and made it hard to sleep. We appreciate the good vibes, the cleanliness of the entire facility (despite some of it being unasked for), and the extremely friendly and helpful staff.

I really enjoy my stay at this Hostel. The staff was very helpful and kind, and the whole atmosphere was super relaxed. There are plenty of activities planned throughout the week, so meeting mew people is very easy. Bonus points for the bar and the rooftop pool, although the water was really warm (no wonder in 39° weather). The rooms and beds were pretty spacious and comfortable. A few things to improve: - Using the shower will leave the whole bathroom covered in water, but a different enclosure would be an easy fix. - One or two additional clothes racks would be convenient - The beds are made of metal, so banging against the sides is very noisy, but this is only a minor issue. In general, I can only recommend this hostel because of the atmosphere, location and staff.

Awesome hostel to stay in when in Florence! It is apparently an old hospital building which they renovated. Everything is really nicely made and the highlight of the place must be the pool at the rooftop. It is a vibrant place with a lot of backpackers and a cool common areas at the reception and on the rooftop to meet people. The location is good because it is near to the central station, just be aware that the immediate surrounding is pretty quite and there is not much going on there. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

  • 5/5 Erik Lopez F. 11 months ago on Google
I've only good words for the hostel. The facilities were very good, with pretty spacious rooms, fully equipped kitchen, the bar open almost 24 hours, the rooftop swimming pool (even if I didn't use it), the club downstairs and the terrace. The staff was really nice as well, they were very helpful and friendly, and they were organizing nice activities every day. Also, the vibe in the hostel couldn't be better. So far, the best hostel I've ever stayed.

The stay at the YellowSquare Hotel was great. The cleanliness is 10. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. Good space to rest, no noise. It is not in the city centre, but it is easily accessible and it is no problem to walk. I would definitely come back. I recommend it 100%. The staff working in the hotel are generally young and very friendly.

  • 4/5 Chris H. 1 year ago on Google
YellowSquare is an excellent hostel. Clean, comfortable, well-equipped and with very friendly staff, I highly enjoyed my stay there. The hostel is new, and it shows. Everything works (not always the case in hostels!), and there are well thought-through inclusions, such as password-protected safes for every bed. The food and drink sold were very good (for hostel food - Florentine food should still be enjoyed above hostel food in general!), and the hostel’s environment was friendly, with plenty of space to meet people. One mark gets taken off for location, which is a 20-30 minutes walk North of the city centre. The centre and South of the city are more enjoyable, though the distance isn’t too bad.

  • 4/5 Ebun O. 1 year ago on Google
Clean, Modern hostel just 15 minutes from the city centre with a tram stop 5 minutes away. You can either walk or take the tram to the train station. Either way, it is close by. The member of staff that attended to me was lovely and hospitable despite checking in at almost 10pm. The housekeepers who cleaned daily were also lovely. They have tons of facilities that ensures your comfort throughout your stay. The rooms are also spacious enough which is great if you want to stay for an extended period which I definitely recommend you do. You could easily stay here for a month without any problems. Despite being situated on a busy road and having a bar on the ground floor, the rooms are well soundproofed and you can barely hear a thing. Honestly, I had a restful sleep throughout my stay. The only problem is the lack of privacy curtains and inadequate beddings. The duvet was flimsy and better suited for the warmer months so you need to layer up in thermals and thick socks to prevent freezing overnight. You don’t always want to speak to your roommates and have anyone in your business, so privacy curtains should be a bare minimum for hostels going forward. Overall, 4.5/5*

So, I planned a weekend trip to Florence and selected "Yellowsquare" for my stay. As it was quite last minute, my travel was a bit rough and reached the place with a very exhausted mind. and due to some miscommunication, I missed that check-in is only possible at 3 pm. I was a bit worried and frustrated and told them also that I booked for this day and all. but, the staff was very calm with me, understood my situation and checked whether they can give me a room a bit earlier. as it seems impossible, they managed to give me a proper washroom and shower facility so that I can freshen up and be comfortable again. I must say, I was impressed later on that they hosted their tired, frustrated guest very nicely. There was 24*7 service so I never had any issues regarding contacting the staff. All staff members were SUPER FRIENDLY and very nice to every guest. There were lots of activities also going on. The ambience was awesome. In short, it's a very good place for your budget trip.

YellowSquare was a great hostel overall. Good social environment and activities in the common area including free pasta and welcome drinks. The rooms themselves were very nice but our room did feel dark as maybe needed some extra lighting. Rooms have large lockers for bags and small safes for valuables as well as in bunk lights and chargers. The rooftop pool looked amazing though we didn’t use it as it wasn’t warm enough outside during our trip. Would definitely stay here again.

  • 4/5 Sa K. 10 months ago on Google
The music at the bar/reception is quite loud, that makes it difficult to understand the important details when arriving. Rooftop pool looked exciting but I had no time to try it. Easy to get in contact with other young grown ups, several activities offered. It's possible to have breakfast and other food, decoration fits the target group. Bathroom (floor) of 4-girls-room was not as tidy as I would have wished. Thin wall of the bathroom which allows for every sound to come through. Curtains make the whole room dark, that's good. For the locker you need to bring your own lock if I understood correctly. But it felt safe to keep it open as well. Did not want to walk from the train station on my own as I wasn't sure if it would be safe. Public transport is good and cheap (1,70€) compared to my home country. There are restaurants in the neighborhood (few tourists).

All staff were very helpful and there was always someone around to help. Everyone always had a smile on their face which meant that everyone felt very approachable. Lovely service! The general atmosphere was welcoming and safe. There were activities you could join if you felt like it but were also able to have a quiet night if that was what you wanted. The free pasta for dinner and drink voucher was also very generous and much appreciated. A range of ages were visiting, even some families with kids. This was nice to see a lot of different people enjoying the space. There was also the opportunity to join activities in the night if you wanted to experience a bit more of a party atmosphere. Being right near the tram and very close to the train station made our stay even easier to visit Florence.
