Skip the basilica, the line is a million hours long and its so crowded. SS Annunziata is a bit hard to find but worth every second we spent searching for it. It was nearly empty, and it’s hard to understand how. This place is absolutely gorgeous, the best church I went to in Florence. If you have any appreciation at all for art, come here - you wont regret it.

Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation, is a Renaissance church that's situated in the center of Florence on an attractive piazza that carries the same name. The relatively simple arcade of the façade is somewhat deceiving. When I walked into the church, I wasn't expecting its richly ornate interior. Take the time to check out the painting on the ceiling and the other artwork around the building. It's so beautiful that I had a tough time leaving.

The exterior of the church can be easily missed but man! When you enter the church it is just wow wow wow. One of the most beautiful church I’ve seen and took a while sitting inside to marvel at the interior.

Is it beautiful? I think so but you can decide. Maybe it’s beyond beautiful. The craftsmanship is stunning. The colors are supreme too. The paintings are stunning, the details are even more stunning. There are many churches but this one is very special.

From the courtyard frescos to the elaborate chapels, hidden fresco behind the altar painting, the miraculous image of the virgin…. It’s an art history class in a church. Not to mention all that history of the place. Suggest do some reading online before visiting or at least take a photo of the info board in the courtyard so you can use it as a guide inside.

Hidden Gem of Florence: SS Annunziata di Firenze Church During my recent visit to Florence, I had the pleasure of discovering the SS Annunziata di Firenze Church, and I must say it was an enchanting experience. While this church may not be as well-known as some of the other prominent attractions in Florence, it truly is a hidden gem that should not be missed. One of the first things that struck me upon entering the church was its magnificent and gorgeous interior. The architecture, art, and intricate details were simply breathtaking. The atmosphere was serene, and the sense of history and spirituality was palpable. The church exudes a sense of grandeur that is sure to leave visitors in awe. One of the best parts of my visit was the absence of long queues or waiting outside. Unlike many popular tourist sites, there were no tickets required to enter the church, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. However, it is important to note that the church is closed between 1 pm and 4 pm, so plan your visit accordingly. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that during prayer time, tourists are not allowed inside. This ensures that the church remains a sacred space for worshippers and adds to the overall authenticity of the experience. So, be sure to check the prayer schedule to maximize your visit. In conclusion, SS Annunziata di Firenze Church is a must-visit when exploring Florence. Its lesser-known status adds to its charm, and you'll be rewarded with a glimpse into the city's rich history and artistic heritage. From the stunning interior to the peaceful ambiance, this hidden gem offers a unique and memorable experience. So, if you're in Florence, don't miss the opportunity to discover the beauty of SS Annunziata di Firenze Church.

Beautiful church with a stunning ceiling and fabulous art. Murals in the entry are really unique. Highly recommended especially as it is much less crowded than many other tourist destinations in Firenze.

The most impressive church of Firenze! When you look outside, you don't have any idea that how amazing is the interior of the church. When I came into, I had a big surprise with its beauty. I was very impressed. There were lots of details in gold and so many beautiful paintings and sacred images. The San Lorenzo de Firenze Basilica is the most famous church in the city, but the interior of the Basilique de la Santissima Annunziata is more beautiful inside than that one.

Best interior of the church I ever seen! The church doesn't look special from the outside but impressive in the inside of it. Again Google doesn't provide any opening hour, thus I am providing the opening hour picture here again for reference.

Best to visit in the afternoon. The morning always seems to have a mass happening and tourists are not allowed. The Basilica della Santissima Annunziata has a 17th century Baroque interior, including a silver temple to a miraculous fresco of the annunciation.

Beautiful basilica. From outside can’t really tell how beautiful it is inside. Totally worth the visit.

Just wow!! It is more beautiful than the cathedral santa maria del fiore ( duomo) and it’s hidden, you don’t see it from outside, but when you go in it is just stunning. It is free, but there are hours of mass when you can not visit, but after 12-13 it is free to viait with no problems.

This church tends to be overlooked amongst other popular monuments in Firenze, but I found it quite beautiful and interesting. The artwork inside is astonishing. Entrance is free of charge, but you are most welcome to leave a donation if you like.

Do yourself a favor: visit the church when staying in Firenze. Located just 15mins from the old town, the church has brilliantly preserved most of its decorations. The interior is mind-blowing, and contrasts with the main door.

As others have said, a real hidden gem and a feast for the eyes. After being wowed by the Duomo and Cathedral, I didn't think I would see anything as beautiful in Florence but this proved me wrong! A serene atmosphere when we were there at 4pm on a Monday afternoon. Totally free but you can make donations for lighting candles. You should really cover shoulders and legs but the monks were very amiable and understanding if you couldn't and there were no issues with several people wearing vest tops and shorts. Confession is also performed during the day and there are some areas tourists are not allowed to go. Go outside into the courtyard to spot the miraculous (or not!) painting of the Virgin Mary (it is protected by a glass screen above the door).

This is the main church of the piazza SS Annunziata. It's a bit overwhelming certainly not minimalist ... worth visiting
