While the facilities in the YMCA are beautiful, I worry about their programs for children. I worked at their Kiddie Camp and I observed many troubling behaviors from counselors and other staff. When I brought an incident to the directors attention, they did not take it seriously. Children were eating crumbs off if a classroom floor. A child fell asleep and the counselors took him and started playing with him and taking pictures of him. The children deserve more than the counselors were willing to give them. For example, at activities (art, sports court, field, etc.) There weren't any instructors. The counselors threw paper and pencils at the children and told them to color while they were on their phones in a different area. These children were 3, 4, and 5 years old. The counselors did not sit with them at activities or lunch, they let them run free, and when it was time to clean up they screamed at them. When I brought this to the supervisors attention, she simply asked the counselors what was going on and they denied it. There is also nazi graffiti on the camp bathroom that has been there for at least one week that again, after telling the camp about, nothing was done to take it off. There are many other valuable camps in this area and all over long island. I do not plan on going back there and I advise against sending your children there.

Have been a member of this YMCA for 20+ years. Located in a wooded setting on the former Gold Coast estate of the Pratt family, the Y has great indoor and outdoor facilities that are well maintained and kept up to date. A friendly, welcoming staff makes the YMCA an asset for those that live in this area of the North Shore.

This is one of the nicest YMCA's around. Located in northern Glen Cove just off Dosoris Lane; this YMCA is very convenient for early morning exercise before work. The grounds are beautifully maintained, facility is spotless and all treadmills are top of the line. The staff are always courtesy and helpful; very happy to be a member.

There are many different classes at different times during the day offering convenience and variety. The weight room is new and has a lot to choose from although they can use some more leg machines and the cardio choices include treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines and two different types of stationary bikes. The indoor pool has lap Lane swimming all day long and offers classes throughout the day and the outdoor pool is open when in season. The only drawback is that during the week the outdoor pool is only open after 4:30 p.m.. There are open gym times where you could catch a pickup game of basketball or play Pickleball. One drawback is that when schools are closed for vacation time during the school year there's not a lot to offer for the kids during the day unless it's a scheduled swim class. The other drawback is that the women's locker room could be updated. Other than that, it's a great facility for you and your family to enjoy.

Place is horrible. A tiny basement gym stuck in a time warp of 1973. I thought it was a health club for ages 85 and over. Leg warmers and Jack LaLane T-shirts. I even think I saw Richard Simmons teaching sweat into the oldies. Front desk lady Julie has bad hygiene and speaks just like Kermit the frog and is VERY rude. Stay away unless you are wanting to workout in hells waiting room. Filthy basement gym. Smells like a nursing home for the forgotten.

Nice YMCA with plenty of space, parking and facilities to use. Pool is great, big workout area with plenty of machines, and a full length basketball court. A nice bonus is the playground outside.

March 4, 2019. 5stars for indoor pool management and the new team! Many swimming early birds have been amazed by the new indoor pool management and all staff. Indoor pool s 5am shaft has been very much on time even in a snowing weather like today’s. standing applauds from all 5am early birds! Thank you, the management team, lifeguards and facility ! November 7, 2018. 5 stars for Samone (I went the front desk to get her name spelling:)), one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth people. She dedicatedly cleans the entire open faculty and women s locker room daily!!! And she ALWAYS shows up with a smiling face and warm personality that make you feel going to this YMCA is a really pleasant treat:)). Thank you, Samone, for showing us such a beautiful and joyful face of YMCA at Glen Cove. Today this one STAR is solely for swimming center manager! It has been a problem for indoor swimming pool since this incompetent man has come on board. HE either cannot get life guard on duty on time in early morning shaft or he himself is LATE! And today is the worst ever. We are the daily 5 AM early bird swimming group and we waited 1 hour and 21 minutes for the swimming center manager to get to work!!! How ironic is that!? One hour and 21 minutes are ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! IT is HARD to understand how a person can respect himself to respect his job. Please,, PLEASE director PETE, would you find a responsible person to lead the swimming center. Five hearty stars for Bodypump instructor Melisa. My new favorite is personal and BodyPump instructor Melissa M. She is very petite yet very strong with pleasant soul to train with. She changes BodyPump routine once a while to make it more fun and effective. Recently she conducted a fitness evaluation for me and gave me some good advice. Thank you, Melissa!

In the hall where the classes : yoga and sport classes very dirty floor! The second room where the equipment is stored is very dirty!! The floor is still dirty : lumps of hair, hair every where near the walls, the floor is old and dirty! The flood is rotten and broken for 2 years, no one is fixing it. At the coach, there is a cabinet with way, there are hairballs and dirty! Why should I breathe this dirt for my money? I go for health! There's dirt and bacteria everywhere

I’m here almost daily. It’s a great facility, very clean, wonderful staff. The classes are good, the pool is well-maintained and the weight room and cardio room have everything you need. The price cannot be beaten. Downside is the clientele in the weight room is 75% teenagers, the pool is often 75% seniors, but in a way, that’s encouraging.

Very disappointed in the YMCA. Wanted to sign my son up for just one month to see if he likes it. Credit card ONLY! Would not take cash. What if you don't have a credit card? Not fair. Discrimination.

Pros: The staff are friendly. Lots of parking. Cons: Expensive for the quality, in all honesty. The weight room and cardio room are in the basement of the building, and have a dingy feel. The equipment is fair enough. It's across from a high school, so outside of school hours it's often busy, and flooded with high school kids, which can make your workout experience annoying and cramped. Not the YMCA's fault, just a product of their location. My biggest gripe was the issue with cancelation. I left the area in May, and inquired about canceling my membership with the front desk. The woman at the desk told me to email online, as the membership director wasn't in. No problem, I emailed the address ASAP. I moved, and traveled for four months. Upon return, I noticed that my account had still been billed for June, July, August, September, and October. After two weeks of trying to contact the Membership Director, I finally got a hold of him. He canceled my membership immediately, but said he can only refund me two months. "It's on our guests to make sure they're checking their statements". Left a bad taste in my mouth. I know it's not this guys' fault, and he probably can't get approval to refund beyond two months, and I'm certainly not the "speak with your manager" type. It was just frustrating that I did what the front desk asked, and my email was received and I suppose, ignored, and now I have to foot the bill for $240-worth of membership fees because I wasn't checking. I will most likely pursue this remaining $240 that I paid, but I know it won't be easy. All in all, if you live nearby, it's an alright place. If you like pickup hoops, there's good runs on Tuesday nights with some solid guys. If you like to workout, try and go on your lunch breaks. Unless you like bumping elbows with 80+ high schoolers, with only half of them-or-so actually working out. I don't live on Long Island, I just worked out there, but I go to a place in the city with better amenities, and better space, for $20 a month. About 25% the cost. The cancellation piece is just a fair warning of the practice and care for clients. Two stars because all the staff were friendly!

This review is for the indoor pool only. I am the type of person whom Jim Gaffigan would kill. Because no matter what I get up at 5am daily and go swimming religiously. And don't give me wrong I do love McDonald's too. Lol! Despite there has been often lifeguard stability issue, the indoor pool has been providing much pleasure and benefits for me and countless others. The water quality and temperature have been maintained very well at most of the times. If they occasionally fall short, the management would adjust soon as they get emails or verbal messages from members. Yes, I have to admit we are a bunch of pool snubs. Lol! Thank you the management team for spoiling us. Even during the Covid time, you tried very hard to keep the faculty, all classes and pool functioning fairly smoothly. I heart my YMCA. The best Y in the entire NYS.

Wouldn’t recommend doing business with this establishment, especially considering they will try and take your employees and hire them behind your back . Making it extremely hard for small business owners to stay in business. Pertaining to a YMCA contractor it’s an absolute nightmare , a joke , the only reason as to why they even are in business is because they take from SMALLER BUSINESS. Save yourself the hassle, the trouble, the headache and stress and this place is super unprofessional.
