This is a great place for a spectacular view or a challenging hike/run. From the parking area there are many routes to take for easy walks, to difficult and hilly trail runs. All of these start with a rather steep decline and finish with a steep climb back to the parking lot. Pros: - Great view of Nimbus Dam & Nimbus Flat Recreation Area - Elevated view for a nice sunrise - Many paths to take, once you get down the hill - Access to the American River Bike Trail - Access to the river side of Mississippi Bar - Challenging hill trails for hikes or runs - Lots of cover to shade those summer walks - Plenty of parking available - Easy to access from Highway 50 Cons: - Parking is not free. Self pay $5 each time, or get a Sac County Park Pass for $50 a year. - Steep decline from the parking lots to the trails. My picture of the park marker has some Japanese graffiti on it that says "King Wolf". I thought it was funny because I spent some time in Japan and on the rare occasion I saw graffiti there it was typically in English. It was funny to see the tables turned here.

Awesome place. Super relaxing and clean. Just don’t forget to pay for parking. It’s a state recreation park, not covered by CA explorer annual pass.

Beautiful overlook, but rhe trails from the parking lot down to the bike trail are very steep.

Beautiful overlook spot for the nimbus damn and lake natoma. But I agree...if you park here to get to the trails around here, it's somewhat steep to get to the trails from here. Lots of parking area, but no lines spots. There is a sign near the entrance that hinted at possibly paying an entrance fee, but there is no kiosk or drop box here. And the entrance to this place is a short exit off of the main road, so be careful when approaching.

Why does this place even exist. I see what one of the previous posters meant- that park and recreations ruined this place. This place has parking spots, but no legit way to access anything else. Parking lot is completely surrounded by chain link fences and other fences. There are some trails past the fences, but none of them are official, and can't tell if they even lead to the American River Trail. If you want to pay $10 just to park for nothing, sure, this is your parking lot.

I've gone biking up these bluffs dozens of times. Always super pretty. One of my favorite downhills if you're on a mountain bike. Really enjoyable short hike with potential so see Bald Eagles too

Great spot to view the dam. Just took many broken glasses on the ground.

I created this place because I used to come here alot with my son and my dog, but it didnt exist so i couldnt tag myself here. I feel like I should get more credit for adding it, its so popular!

Stunning views of the area from this bluff. On a clear day you can see from the coast range to the Sierra peaks. The turkey vultures ride the updraft against the hill and hover right overhead. Deer, birds, buzzing creatures; the occasional hawk or bald eagle. The only downside is there isn't a public toilet, so plan your trip accordingly. Small fire-disturbed area adjacent the parking area, but should grow back beautifully after the rains. Part of the Folsom Lake SRA, so bring your Poppy Pass to enjoy free parking.
