Fri lunch. No crowd when we arrived but much busier by 1300. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly. The menu had a medium number of items, featuring "Irish" food. Prices were moderately expensive. Food came promptly. Folks were satisfied with their meals but not exuberant. Their words were "it was good" but their emotion was "meh". I would ordinarily assign a 4 star rating for this experience but I am deducting a star for a significant unmarked tripping hazard at the entry. The entry steps are blended into the sidewalk on a grade. So the left side of the entry has four steps while the right side has three. There is no hazard warning to the hazard and one of our group took a hard fall. I can't believe someone hasn't sued them for a substantial amount. Especially after imbibing.

It's a nice bar and good staff with a quality menu, better than just a bar. I understand things are more lively at night, good Irish tunes through the day, sometimes live music. The proves are reasonable and with what you get in exchange.

Nice place, live music, i have to admit that the Guiness beer didn't had that profound creaminess i remember from UK, but still ok; good food, but the chocolate mousse was not available!! Still recommended to stop by here ;-)

I had a wonderful time last night celebrating my birthday and Saint Patrick’s Day at The Auld Sheeban! It was already packed with people celebrating when my husband and I arrived at 5:00 but we lucked into a couple of seats at the bar within a few minutes and stayed there the entire evening. The bartenders were amazing, getting drinks and food out at a fast pace all the while staying good-natured and friendly with their customers. I’m usually not a fan of traditional Irish dishes but their food was really good and I ate every bite. The band played all the traditional Irish songs I love as well as some I hadn’t heard before. We are newcomers to Fairfax and this was a wonderful introduction to the area. ☘️☘️☘️

One of our go to restaurants for some good comfort Irish food. The beef stew was so flavorful and big chunks of meat. The cottage pie dish was amazing. The chicken with the herb sauce is chefs kiss. Don’t sleep on the fries with curry sauce. That curry sauce is everything. The leek soup is also delicious.

We’ve been here a couple times before and had burgers, which were good! Recently we went with my in-laws and wanted to change up our order. My in-laws had the fish and chips and the Irish sausages and Mash. They said both dishes were excellent. I ordered chicken tenders which unfortunately were over cooked / rubbery, but our waitress took them off the bill for us. My husband wasn’t thrilled with his chicken wings either, saying the sauce was pretty bland. I tried one and agreed. However - I asked if they could do fries with cheese and bacon on them and they DELIVERED. Oh my goodness, the best “loaded” fries I think I’ve had in my life. Since my chicken wasn’t good, the fries became my meal and honestly I wasn’t mad about it ;)

We just returned from our annual month-long trip to the British Isles. So, when I ask my wife where she wanted to go for lunch, I was surprised she said "Auld Shebeen". I'm glad she did. The food here remains among the best you will find in any pub anywhere. My bride had the cottage pie. It was great comfort food. She loved it. I had corned beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes on the side. It was wonderful. The corned beef was so tender you could cut it with a fork. And I love the Kilkenny Creme Ale. Portions here are on the large side, so bring an appetite. Cheers!

Yummy, yummy, yummy! It is freezing outside, and this Guinness Beef Stew warmed every bone in my body! Yeah, we had wonderful service in a welcoming and lovely place. We had the baked brie, artichoke spinach, dip, Cobb salad, the house hamburger, several beef stews, as well as several shepherds pie’s every one loved everything. Oh, the leek and potato soup is to die for, it is more like mashed potatoes that’s been covered in leek soup - don’t pass it up

True authentic Irish pub feel with amazing food, warm welcoming service, and fantastic drinks! Price is normal for the Fairfax area so please don't show up looking to save a buck! Entertainment (live music is often a month). Plenty of TVs to entertain the sports enthusiast! Love this place!

Delicious Irish food, wonderful atmosphere which makes you feel like you're in Dublin. Irish music playing in the background with live music as well, premier football on the TV's. This was our happy place. We will definitely be back.

Great food! The potato leek soup was too DIE for. I could have eaten a whole pot. The pretzel was very good too and we liked the mild cheese and mustard sauce. The burger was cooked perfectly and was hot and juicy but honestly, the meat didn't have a ton of flavor. And the corned beef and cabbage was very very good. I hate cabbage but could have eaten twice that serving size. And that was really the only negative, the corned beef and cabbage serving size is a little small. Definitely recommend, and hope we can go back for more!

A very cozy, classic Irish pub which deserves the solid reviews. Jose at the bar was equally attentive and kind. He suggested the Claddagh Burger, a very tasty, filling comfort dish and a great recommendation for a first time visitor on a cold night. I requested carrots be added and the kitchen was happy to oblige. Would return.

Went for appetizers on a Friday night. I think it’s the one night they don’t have any sort of event or live music, so the restaurant was completely empty. Very good food, pretty expensive though. Free garage parking a couple of blocks away. The live music is great when they have it!

Nice irish bar. I checked it out on a Wednesday night. In the basement they host a free weekly event "Transit" for DJs to perform, new and seasoned. The genres change weekly. The crowd was friendly and felt like a cool place. It's very spacious with good sound. I definitely want to check it out again. The picture was from the very beginning of the night, so not crowded

Food was nothing crazy but definitely good. Service and atmosphere were absolutely great. Live Irish music was grand and the energy of the place was ecstatic.

Staff and service 10/10! Everyone is so nice, helpful, and welcoming! If you wan to talk at the bar they’ll talk with a smile on their face, if you don’t, they’ll be happily waiting to serve you. The space is super fun and sometimes with live music. Their basement space is also really cool with its own bar and plenty of space for dancing. I will say the event food or the event menu they offer if you’re renting their space isn’t great. The spinach artichoke dip is good 7.5/10. The quesadillas were good too but doesn’t really make sense at the Irish pub setting 7/10. The BBQ meatballs were the worst I tried of the spread not enough sauce but also was slightly confused and thought it was strange that there was cheese melted on top of them 4/10. I can’t speak for their regular dinner menu but despite the lack luster food I did experience I would easily overlook it because of how fun and welcoming they make the atmosphere along with tasty drinks!

It’s a great Irish pub in the heart of downtown. We work nearby so we come here for lunch often and it’s our go-to spot. Staff is friendly and prompt, food comes out quickly and the atmosphere is great. No complaints. The grilled chicken sandwich is simply incredible.

Our server was friendly and attentive without being too much, if you know what I mean. I gave the atmosphere 5 stars but I want to qualify that. We were there during a day of non stop rain and heavy winds. The restaurant was nearly empty. The decor is awesome. The bar is well stocked. But I can't say anything about noise levels. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the shepherd's pie, which was excellent.

This was one of the coolest pubs I've been to, and the food and service was absolutely outstanding. We were there for New Year's Eve and will absolutely be returning.

December 2nd enjoyed a concert here. The show was good, and the atmosphere compliments that. The staff behind the bar and the stage were wonderful. The food was good too.

Had my birthday party there with 40 of my friends. The proprietor Dominic and the Staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. They made sure my friends had a good time and that my birthday was special. The food was also amazing and the drinks were great! Highly recommend.

Went to the Auld Shebeen while on holidays with friends, this Irish bar is excellent, the service, food and Guinness is like being at home. Met the owners, lovely and friendly, and everything about this place can not be faulted. Try the fish n chips along with a pint of the black stuff, you will not be disappointed. 5 star's for atmosphere, food, drinks, price, and service. Highly recommended.
