Wonderful large park with plenty of open space for kids to run and play. Good shady areas for family picnics. Good playground. Could use cleaner toilets. Our 5 years old said, " I'm not going in there!". Ice cream truck was a hit!

I really love this playground, it needs a little renovation regarding the basketball court, and play equipment. It needs a fixed bathroom with water/soap etc. Instead of the inhumane portable bathroom. Otherwise, you have a lot of space to picnic, play and reset. It also seems that the night light doesn't turn on for the basketball courts, which is a bummer. You have the following options though: 1- Basketball court. 2- Two volleyball courts. 3- Two picnic areas. 4- Tennis Courts. 5- Huge field for soccer, volleyball, etc.

Great mixed use park. We spend quite a bit of time there. Do wish the city did a bit more to maintain though.

Van Dyke park is a clean spot with a playground and a few turf soccer fields. The fields are well maintained. Playground is clean with lots of fun things for the little ones. There are also new public bathrooms they built, which is great. Nice spot.

This is a large park with several separate playground areas to help separate big kids from little kids. The largest section has 11 pieces of equipment. I've only been once so I don't know if I was there at fortunate time or it's a regular thing, but there was a fresh layer of mulch. Parking might be an issue as there didn't seem like there would be enough during busy periods. The playgrounds were clean and the park in general seemed clean. There is a large restroom cube sort of thing with solar panels on top. When we arrived someone was using it, when we left is was being worked on by someone who seemed a little frustrated by something. As a side note, there was a tall young man, whose age I couldn't determine, who seemed to have a mental capacity issue. I don't know if it's a normal place he spends his days or if anyone was with him but he was there that day. He said hello to a few adults and seemed friendly but I didn't notice him approach any children specifically.

Great park for big and little kids. A nice walking path of you bring your dog for a walk. The porta potty a.k.a "The Throne" is an amazing addition.

Great park for sledding in the snow. Pro tip : if you want a more thrilling slide skip the first slope near parking and go onto the next one

I first came here about 30 years ago wirh my sons, who were kids then. Today we come here with THEIR kids. 😊 For us, Van Dyck Park is a family tradition. I've always felt comfortable here. It's not a real big or fancy park, but really nice one with a good community vibe.

Great and large park with a fenced in skate park, several fields and courts for various sports and activities. Additionally there was a recently added Throne Bathroom which adds a nice classy touch to having to having to take a restroom break. Plenty of shaded paths throughout.

Loved this place as a kid and love this place as a teen. There is often ice cream trucks and occasionally other food trucks. There’s tons of equipment for kids to play on, basketball court, volleyball court and a big field to play on. There is also a short trail if you want to go on a walk. Only thing to beware of is the place is so big so keep a close eye on your kid(s). I would 100% recommend going here with your kids to get some energy out!

I use this park for walking on the trails. But this park has a basketball court, tennis/pickle ball, playgrounds, soccer fields, picnic gazebos, fitness course, and a skate park! In decent weather there is always people at this park enjoying something. And it's next to a police station so it's very safe.

Perfect playground for families, young kids and even adults. From multiple playground areas to basketball courts and spacious fields and trails, there is something for everyone. Definitely a place I’d take my kids back or go by myself on a nice day. High recommend as one of the bigger and better public play areas in Fairfax, VA.

Lots of bathrooms, well maintained fields and playground. This is a giant playground park with picnic shelters, 3 tennis courts, 3 sand volleyball courts, 2 large fields, 3 playground areas, a skate park for kids, basketball court, pretty much the best playground around. It gets busy on the weekends but it is so large that it is not a problem. Also has two parking lots, one beside the tennis and volleyball courts, another by the police station.

A great find in Fairfax city. This park is huge with courts, trails, a skatepark and lots of open space. Plenty of shaded area. The playground was expansive. Some of the equipment was a bit dated but there was a nice variety of playthings.

My wife grew up nearby so we check it out when we visit. Great park for kids with lots of things to play on and a skate park. There are great climbing trees there too, my daughter wouldn't stay out of them. I saw some running trails but didnt check them out. Backs right up to the police station so its not sketchy at all

I was on a quest for outdoor Pickleball courts and found them here! It was difficult to figure out entrance to park, but once I found the lane and parking lot, it seemed nice. A lot of people walking the trail/path. Nice equipment for kids, and not busy on a school day morning.

Fantastic park! Lots of choices for families, group activities, action (skate park), and casual strolls. The playground equipment is clean and well kept and the outdoor dining and BBQ looked fine as well. Be sure to bring your own water as the fountain near the playgrounds is a little suspicious in that it is currently shooting water 10ft into the air. Great spot for a fun afternoon!

Love the park, plenty of space for people to play volleyball, tennis, bbq spots, etc. Parking lot could be a bit better but perfect otherwise

Parking is a challenge in this park as the parking is very limited. Must use the nearby community center, police station parking. Ample space and activities for the kids and grown ups to play.

This is a great not so little park with several playgrounds, where you can play volleyball on sand, skate in an enclosed area, have a picnic and use the charcoal grills or even get cover and have a birthday party under the pavilion.

Great park with lots to do. Van dyck has a big playground, 3 sand volleyball courts, grills, tennis courts, pickleball lines on the tennis courts (there are nets available), and a big lawn to run around on. The only issue is parking on the weekends or if it's a nice day.
