Went for a hike on this beach on a cold cold morning in February. Nice even path till you get to the beach and then you kind of have to go down a little gully. But doable. Once youโ€™re on the beach itโ€™s miles and miles and itโ€™s gorgeous - not a single soul in sight - we had the whole place to ourselves. Not even a surfer which is very rare in California. Wonderful place for a nice long beach walk.

Amazing dunes beach and river... We parked along the Highway 1 just before the bridge crossing the 10 mile river and went down the trail to the dunes. The trail was small and steep but I was able to climb it with a bit of a bunky knee. Looks like these dunes are also used by trail riders on horse back. Once at the bottom we traveled quite a ways south then back up to the river mouth completing it all with lots of stops in about 2 hours walking a total of 2.5 miles. Found lots of sand dollar pieces all over but the better ones were near the river mouth. We went first thing in the morning on a Thursday and had the entire beach to ourselves the whole time. It was amazing! Saw seal lions observing us from the river and crab boats setting crab pots out to sea. I was surprised not to see any Kayaks in the river, it seems like a fabulous place for it, looked like a river front dirt road a little ways before the bridge.

Been here as I was staying at an air bnb right next to this beach. Since I had private access I walked across the sand dunes to reach this beach. You get this beach to yourself in the stretch of miles. It's such a hidden gem, I cant forget the experience coming here.

I visited here with my family in mid May and the weather was perfect. Just donโ€™t forget to wear sunscreen! Itโ€™s not hot and itโ€™s foggy but you can still get burnt. Itโ€™s a great walk!

More like "ten miles from your car and to the beach." ๐Ÿ˜„ Beautiful sandy hills to walk on, and the walk to the beach is worth it. We went in February and we only saw one other person. The beach stretches so far, though, that I doubt there's ever a capacity issue.

An incredible wildlife habitat and refuge, premium beach walking and hiking, miles long beach break with opportunities to surf powerful waves, and seemingly endless vistas which inspire to the core. This natural wonder lies at the foot of the Lost Coast and north of most civilization, making it a mostly untouched treasure to behold and enjoy. Skimboarding here is prime, with the best spot right through the tunnel at the parking lot. About four miles up the beach, beyond where all trails end, the sand responds to your footsteps with audible "barks" and "squeeks". It is a very windy, exposed beach so take precautions.

Came here in late September. Path is OK to the beach, but disappears under the sand after a little while. HIGHLY suggest to track your path so that you know how to get back - we got lost on our way back and it took us quite some time to find our way. Most of the dunes have vegetation on them, but I was barefoot the majority of the time - just watch your step. I wouldnโ€™t return, there are a lot of other beaches along the coast!

Calm beach for the family to spend the day. Lots of room to play beach volleyball or build sand castle. Dog friendly beach. Just be wary that they are limited parking on the side of the road. No public restroom or shower.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I visited this beach on July/2/20. I did not have to pay for parking, The parking is on the road. It is small area, probably can hold about 8 cars. The trail is a little tricky, it has 2 different ways to enter the ocean. I was hiking both. The one with the sign and the picture of Bowling Ball Beach...

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ This is a true hidden gem. The beach is huge. There are gorgeous rock formations. You can even go up to some rocks and maybe meditate there, itโ€™s magnificent. There are almost no people on the beach. Such a great place.

๐Ÿ˜ Hidden beach that takes some work to find but can be a very nice excursion. Best parking is at the college campus just up the hill to the North. Walking downhill to the beach some portions of the trail can be muddy in the winter. Bring a trash bag and a leash for the dog.
