Babcock Beach, Hare Creek, Fort Bragg image

Babcock Beach, Hare Creek, Fort Bragg

Beach

😐 Hidden beach that takes some work to find but can be a very nice excursion. Best parking is at the college campus just up the hill to the North. Walking downhill to the beach some portions of the trail can be muddy in the winter. Bring a trash bag and a leash for the dog. People often mention beach,

This is a nice, secluded beach, and dogs are not allowed to roam loose here. The beach is just loaded with sea palm and the sand is full of rocks. There is a lot of litter on the trail to get to it, so if someone is feeling generous to the environment, that is something that needs to be cleaned up. Note that Google Maps has this place in as a beach resort, but it is in fact NOT a beach resort in any way; it is a beach (I already tried to fix this but Google rejected my edit).

I grew up just a few minutes from this beach and it's a hidden treasure in a place where such things are far from uncommon. It's seldom busy and offers flat sand, sheltered bluffs, abundant driftwood and lots more. Just go down and check it out, maybe I'll see you there sometime.

What an amazing view of the ocean! I have never been this far north in California but it is by far my most favorite trip to California yet. You really need to check this place out if you're looking for nature, beautiful views, and great weather look no further.

Super cool little hidden beach. Took me forever to figure out how to get to it but it was soo worth it! Some of the little tidepools were even warm so my son just loved that!!

Interesting...never heard it called Babcock in my 40 yrs here, although I know the family does own lots of property in that area, mostly referred to as Hare Creek Beach, I presumed was public and named so?

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I visited this beach on July/2/20. I did not have to pay for parking, The parking is on the road. It is small area, probably can hold about 8 cars. The trail is a little tricky, it has 2 different ways to enter the ocean. I was hiking both. The one with the sign and the picture of Bowling Ball Beach...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ This is a true hidden gem. The beach is huge. There are gorgeous rock formations. You can even go up to some rocks and maybe meditate there, it’s magnificent. There are almost no people on the beach. Such a great place.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Went for a hike on this beach on a cold cold morning in February. Nice even path till you get to the beach and then you kind of have to go down a little gully. But doable. Once you’re on the beach it’s miles and miles and it’s gorgeous - not a single soul in sight - we had the whole place to ourselv...
