Piyali is located at a distance of 75 km from Kolkata. Its attraction lies in the tranquillity of nature along with a touch of the Sunderban. The Island itself is the main attraction with its paddy fields, meandering Piyali River, sparse jungles, Matla River, the mangrove forest on the banks of the island and village life. Some migratory birds also flock to the coats of Piyali Island during winters. You can drive to the Piyali Island after crossing a small bridge over River Piyali. The two rivers Matla and Piyali surround this island. The Piyali River actually flows through the Island and mixes with Matla River at a later stage. There is only one tourist lodge in this island but it has well-supported infrastructure for tourists. There are ample things to do in Piyali Island – you can take a nature walk, enjoy a boat ride, do some bird watching, enjoy in the gardens and savor the village life. Those who want to explore nearby destinations can easily organize an enjoyable trip to Jhorkhali and Kaikhali from Piyali Island. You can arrange for a tour to Piyali Island any time of the year but the winters would be a nice time to watch the birds. But things could have been better with arrangements for managing litters strewn all over. Lastly food one wishes for real improvement,

Although not like an actual island, Piyali island is surrounded by water bodies on three sides. Located very close to the confluence of the rivers Matla and Piyali. The island is rich in biodiversity and the natural beauty is worth enjoying. If you want, you can enjoy the beauty of the island by boating in the Piyali river. The island is also famous as a picnic spot. However, there is no accommodation on the island, number of local shops is also limited. Overall it is a perfect destination for weekend trips.

River bank, some green forest area. Roads to this place are narrow. Piyali does not have any food joints and there is garbage strewn by tourists who infrequently visit. Local administration can develop this tourist spot, alas it is ignored

A clean and beautiful place for mental peace. Nature lovers will enjoy the place by observing different plant, bird and insect species. Various snail, crab and mudskippers were beside the river bed. Anyone can avail Boat ride, but before riding bargaining is a must. We covered the whole iland by walking. Extremely good spot for picnic. Approx half of the road from Dakshin Barasat railway is in extremely bad condition. Few local shops are there but its better to carry your own food for visit. We didn’t found any pay and use toilet there.

Great place which retains the flavor of "gram bangla" in 2022. A wonderful offbeat find! Though it may get overcrowded due to its popularity soon. Great place to go for a dayride from Kolkata in winter. Check out "aronyok" on YouTube for a wonderful visual experience in Piyali Island.

Nice place for one day trip from Kolkata... Road via dakkhin barasat(14km) is worst so use the joynagar road, it is much better. There's no petrol pump under 15 km of this island but you can find petrol being sold in bottles at the markets. Ferry ride is a must.

Visiting Piyali Island was a serene escape into nature's embrace. The gentle flow of the river whispered tranquility, surrounded by lush greenery that seemed to dance with the breeze. Exploring the water garden ponds revealed a symphony of colors as vibrant flowers and aquatic life coexisted harmoniously. Each step felt like a journey through a living canvas, with the rhythmic sounds of nature creating a peaceful melody. Piyali Island is a haven where the beauty of rivers and water gardens intertwines, leaving an indelible mark on the soul.

A interesting place to explore as a short trip. Enjoy the scenic view and beautiful view of sun and clear water flowing through. Dislikes : Too much litter thrown near the banks and unavailability of food restaurant.
