Most disgusting service. Staff at this office is EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I understand times are stressful and work days are overwhelming and long but that doesn't excuse the unprofessional behavior of the staff at this office. If you are making the conscious decision to punch the time clock for the day then it's your job to deal with the public in a respectful and professional manner. If you're feeling stressed then excuse yourself and take a five minute break and decompress. We are all going through some form of hardship and a little compassion goes a long way. Something that this staff needs to learn when dealing with the public. You all are a horrible office to deal with.

The parking lot is very large and easily accessible from the main road. When you walk in the elevator is straight ahead. My wait time was short and the staff member that helped me was very informative and worked quickly to fulfill my request. I have not been to a government office anymore efficient than this one.

My elderly mother 88 retired at the same address since 1992 from Illinois. Two years ago her SS income statement was not sent . Reported this. Someone changed her address . For 2 years SSA was sending her statement to another address. We went to the Port Charlotte office March 8 at 230 pm . Johnny or John assisted us. Completely disrespectful. No empathy. No compassion. No resolution. Words to us were hurry up your making no sence. We are THE Customer. Not the Problem. Someone else has my moms social security number because SS made a mistake or someone will commit fraud. Please our elderly need to be respected. Brenda Newman

Hi, I was so nervous to have to go and get my son’s replacement social security card. Thought it would be such a hassle. But today I went, and just minutes before heading out the door my elderly neighbor had a medical emergency. After I got her assistance and in the ambulance. It was 3:30pm. I was even more sure my experience would be unpleasant because I would be showing up so close to closing time. I went in, filled out the electric kiosk. And my number was immediately called. This is where I met Mr. Denis. He was dapper in his suit and extremely pleasant. He could tell I was flustered, and I apologized for my timing. His grace was exactly what I needed. He happily helped me in just a few key strokes and my son’s replacement card had been ordered. Such a quick interaction but impactful.

I don't know why people are complaining about the guard. He is there only to perform his Security Guard duties, there is a big sign which says the security guard is not there to answer questions. To me he is always very courteous and smiles and says Hello. This location is a 5 star in comparison to the one in Fort Myers. Try going there, if you think this is bad. I have always gotten a courteous and swift service. Yes, you have to wait for your number to be called, however there are a whole lot less people ahead of you than other places, once you are called, they take their time to answer all your questions at the window and try to help you to their best ability. All in all, the best experience in a 70 mile radius.

I am assigned to the Venice social security office location but, the problem is I live in the very beginning of North Port and I'm close to the Port Charlotte location rather than the Venice one.Matter of fact it takes me less than 5 minutes to get to the office in Port Charlotte and takes me more than 45 minutes to get the the Venice location.I understand their system goes only by zip codes and that's how the selected the office where your assigned to.You would think that technology would be able to see what office your closest to but, apparently NOT! Besides this ,I think the office in Port Charlotte is one of the better social security offices to go to. It's less busier than the other locations and your waiting time is nothing in comparison to what you'll be waiting at one of the bigger location's .Yes I've ran into some rude employees that are there to help us but, that's everywhere. My one complaint is that they're close more than opened. But in all mist of the people that are employed there are very helpful and go out of their way to get you Which makes up for the nit so nice employees that work there. So I'll definitely continue going to this location as long as I can because, I'm not trying to wait 4 hours to turn in a form when I can go here and ve in and out in 10 minutes on a slow day and 45 mins on a very busy day!😁

I had never been to the Social Security Office before & I had to go there to get a new SS card because I got married. Everything was pretty self-explanatory if you read the steps they want you to take to sign in. There is a gentleman/Security Guard at the desk who is helpful if you need him. I was there for approximately 15 minutes total. J. Lopez was the gentleman who helped me get what I needed to change my name & get a new SS card. I couldn't help but compliment him on how helpful he was & he made my first time dealing with something like this so easy.

Arrived just after 9am. The woman checking for masks, the guard & the agent behind the plexiglass all very courteous, friendly, helpful and efficient. We had two issues that were quickly solved. Outstanding service from an important government agency. Thank you!

Clean facility. Friendly staff. Social workers are knowledgeable and professional. They processed documents fast and accurately. Waiting time is around an hour. Avoid Monday if you can. Very crowded. Waiting time can go up to few hours.

The computer for checking-in was down when I arrived. I was told the wait could be up to an hour to be seen. It was actually less than 10 minutes. The person who helped me was not your typical government employee: He was personable, helpful, and quick.

I have been trying for two weeks to contact the SSA both online and via phone. The online services say "they can't verify my information" and the office takes me to a loop and never allows me the correct options. Once I did actually get connected and then was immediately disconnected when the person picked up. When I called back I got a recording that said to call back during "normal" business hours .... it was during "normal business hours" I'm disgusted.

Signed in at 11:50 am to sit and wait finally called back at 12:50 pm to be informed that I can't order my children's social security cards with their birth certificates and my ID. An entire hour of sitting for nothing

Excellent and quick service on a Monday morning at 9 A.M. Helpful security guard, but does not answer questions about your SS or Medicare... BTW, you might want to lock your online SS account to avoid or minimize identity theft where they steal your SS payments. Tell them you don't want them to change anything online, only if you personally show up with ID.

Today is 2/28/22 9:35 AM. The man answering the phone at the Port Charlotte , FL SSA office is SO RUDE , he has no customer service skills at all and his manager needs to move him off the phones.

I have only had telephone interaction with the office-but I can say that Jessica treated me very kindly at the initial phone call. Also, SSA made an error and closed my file. Jessica IMMEDIATELY contacted me and apologized and remedied the situation. Can’t speak for anyone else but thank you, Jessica, for your prompt attention.

super nice security guard Joe, super helpful staff at window 8 (forget her name), took care of my request immediately. Of note: I had come several times the previous week only to find the doors closed and locked, the guard asked me they are open Monday thru Friday 9am to 4pm.

Hope they replace the man working at window 9 I believe it is. Older white man with glasses. First of all he was discriminatory towards someone with disabilities. He tried to come up with every excuse in the book to not let you accomplish what you are trying to do. I didn’t realize that social security representative was allowed to over rule a doctors letter. I felt like I Was in a court room for two hours fighting with him. I don’t have this issue with any other employees there. But I’ve gotten him on multiple occasions. First time I tried to reason and say well everyone has a bad day. But nope. Every other time he has been just as rude, patronizing and nasty. I will specifically request to not speak with him next time I am there. And I will be filing a complaint, and reporting him for discrimination.

I went there to inform SS of my Mother’s passing, so they can stop payment of benefits. I was treated very rudely by the associate there. Not only did he not bother to express any sympathy for my loss, he accused me of trying to get some kind of benefit, that I had not asked for. When I told him why I came there, he said that I should have known that the Funeral Home would take care of that, and it is not my responsibility to report a death. But the SS payments kept coming, three more deposits! I went and had to wait at the SS office again to report that that, and to complain about their mistreatment of me on my first visit. Still nothing was done, and I got tired of waiting forever to talk to the manager. So I left and posted this. Get your act together, SS!

1 star is more than this office deserves. I went there 4 different times with items they told me to bring for a duplicate social security card for my son. Each time they left out vital information of what the documents needed to consist of and each time I was talked down to like I was stupid. The person I dealt with today refused to let me speak with someone higher up. Probably because they dropped the ball 4 times and didn't want to get caught. I do not recommend this office and will not go back. I will be using the mail from this day forward.

Dennis is so rude, arrogant and far over the top. I gave 3 stars because I never have an issue with any other representative except for Dennis. If solely based my review upon him I’d give only ONE star. Life is hard enough without someone like him standing in the way of getting things accomplished. He makes life impossible for someone like me, I can’t imagine the elderly dealing with someone like him. Please remove Dennis and replace with another representative.

I usually get in fairly quickly without an appointment. The staff are very helpful and almost always can resolve my problem in one visit. They try hard to explain the options clearly so I can make the best choice.

The SS phone system is a joke. The computer system is unavailable and requires a personal visit to request help to establish an account, that should take another whole day.
