I loved this restaurant, the jazz musicians were wonderful, the food was great, and the service was good, a little delay about our order, but they were so friendly with us, and the dessert was on the house. I recommend this place if you like the jazz, good food, and relaxed atmosphere.

Short trip to the Symphony Hotel for drinks and jazz on a Saturday night. Wow, great 4 piece jazz ensemble.... Talking allowed (not all jazz clubs allow it). Relaxed atmosphere, no cover charge, beautiful setting and friendly, helpful staff. Can't say enough about the jazz, very nice. Drinks very good too. I even had a very nice organic red wine. Thank you Symphony! We'll be back. (If this review helps you choose a place to go, LIKE it. I need the encouragement!!)

Room was fine. One other reviewer said something about the floor in the shower being rocks. I agree, it was uncomfortable. Otherwise, the room was fine. BUT, I would not recommend staying here on anything other than Friday or Saturday night. I sent a text about an hour before arrival as was requested. When I got there, I had to walk around until I found the housekeeper who took me to the manager in a different section not far from the entrance. Well within earshot but never made an attempt to greet me even though he got the text of my arrival. Night came and went and since I stayed on a Sunday night, I got up Monday morning to have breakfast and check out. I went to the area that I assumed the continental breakfast should have been. The only choice I saw was some yogurt and instant oatmeal. Somehow I expected something a little more. I went back to the manager and asked about the breakfast and he said that he could go and make me something. Now when I first arrived, he could not find it in himself to come to the door and greet me, or even yell out to come to where he was at, if he could not get up for that, how motivated are you to make the wife and I breakfast? I was not going to put my faith in that meal. We stayed here because it seemed different and a boutique hotel I thought would be fun. I understand not being busy during the week, but maybe you should just close for the week instead of just having bare bone service.

Great location. Cool style. The breakfast is underwhelming. Toaster didn’t work, no regular milk for cereal, the sausage was mediocre, and the coffee was mediocre. Still nice to have a breakfast option. Fun vibe in the room and a cool record player

We stayed here on a Monday night, which is unfortunate since we missed the restaurant and live jazz. The place was great though. Rooms were cool, and comfortable and the rooftop patio was a nice touch. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here on a Friday night. The idea of this place is awesome. However, good luck trying to sleep at night. We were on the top floor and I could hear the band playing downstairs like it was in bed with me. Lights shined into our room and kept me up all night. The bed was small and very, very squeaky. However, the staff were great and the breakfast was top-notch. I appreciated the free parking even if it was a few blocks away.

My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel. The food was outstanding both the breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed listening to the jazz band on Friday and Saturday night. We were in town for Oktoberfest. The hotel is located a half block from a Connector streetcar station. The best part is the streetcar is free and it goes past many major attractions. We didn't have to drive anywhere our entire stay.

Went before going to the ballet and had a great experience. The wait staff was extremely nice and responsive, and the food was delicious. Interesting restaurant and a place I will definitely consider before future shows at Music Hall.

A gem of a boutique hotel next to the Music Hall. Unassuming, very quaint with a friendly staff and family home demeanor. Rooms are customized to various legendary composers from the past. Very nice roof top. Jazz Club on the ground floor. Various food and beverages available. Short walk to other notable sights on the Rhine. If a music lover, especially classical, a visionary experience and hotel destination.

Charming and delightful small boutique hotel. We stayed here for two nights for the Blink Festival - and this hotel was in the perfect location! We stayed in the Mozart Room, which was spacious and so comfy. Everything was perfect: comfy bed, nice coffee service, quiet room. The rooms are all cleverly decorated for the composer in the name. So fun. Big shout out to Melissa, our inn keeper. She was fabulous, took great care of us the whole time. Melissa has a great love and knowledge of the city, and was always ready with recommendations as needed. Loved the advance texts so we knew exactly what to do to find the hotel and check in. Free garage parking was a great convenience. We loved our tasty brunch on Saturday am - try the Strada - so good. We felt right at home, right away. This is an intimate, yet private hotel. Felt like we were staying at a private club.

If you are looking for a historical, unique, and conveniently located hotel, this is it. This hotel is beautifully restored and maintained. Every single space is decorated with musical artifacts. The Bach Room is big enough for a couple with a smart tv, coffee maker, and extra pillows. Pictures are from shared areas and not the room. The hotel is conveniently located near the Connector, Washington Park, and restaurants which are about one block away. Ashlyn, the innkeeper, made our experience so pleasant! She went above and beyond to help make our check in work for us. We appreciate all the help during our stay. My only complaint was the breakfast.

My wife and I booked a 2-night stay at the Symphony Hotel for my 75th birthday. It was an outstanding visit. Ashlyn, the innkeeper, made check-in super easy. Secure, covered parking and breakfast are included in the cost of the room. Our meals in the jazz bar were wonderful and very reasonably priced. A special shout-out to our servers, Owen and Reagan, who were very attentive. The hotel is themed on classical composers. Our 3rd floor room was small, but comfy and very quiet. The roof top deck on the 2nd floor was a pleasant surprise and surprisingly peaceful. They even loaned us wine glasses and a corkscrew so we could enjoy a bottle of wine on the deck. The Symphony Hotel may not be for everyone, but if you are looking for a boutique hotel with wonderful service, great food, easy access to free transportation to downtown and the Findlay Markey, not to mention being across the street from the Cincinnati Music Hall and Memorial Hall, don’t pass up this gem.

Wow, I don’t know another word to use here. I was truly blown away by this place, and its staff. Ill start with the staff. Melissa was so kind and accommodating that it restored a bit of faith in humanity for me. She made my stay so comfortable, I felt like I had stayed there a hundred times before, despite this being my first. Thank you Melissa! The accommodations, well, equally as awesome. The building is really, really, fabulous and the vibe is off the charts. The room was spacious and well appointed. Last, but certainly not least, the parking. Rarely am I even content with the parking situation when I stay places, as I am one of those crazy people who actually care about their vehicle. At the Symphony, I can tell you, for the first time in my life, I was happy about it! They have a private garage with spacious parking spots around the corner. It is secure, and they give you a fob to come and go as you please. Thank you so much!!! I was in town for a concert, and bottom line, I will be watching the local music scene for an excuse to come back!!! Another positive of the hotel is that it is within walking distance of several venues, and numerous wonderful eateries. I hope to see you again soon!!!!!

I enjoyed my stay at the Symphony Hotel. The rooms were cute and full of extra details that made it stand apart from big hotel chains. Checking in and out was convenient and efficient, and the parking garage was a one to two minute walk away (and free!!) The host was amazing. She took extra time to show me where local walkable restaurants were on a map already conveniently placed in the room. I definitely recommend and will stay again if/when traveling to Cincinnati.

Symphony is a unique, pleasantly so, boutique that does all facets quite well. We stayed 2 days. Ate, drank, back patio tailgated, music trio both evenings, attended FCC V Crew game. Marvelous. My 4 star on service is not because there was bad service. Let me explain; all staff are attentive pleasant and focused upon service. Some, not all, are quite young, in restaurant & lounge area are absorbing much quite quickly, getting great experience. Sometimes they are learning with a bit of a guests help. If you as a guest are of a temperament to be abrasive go somewhere else. If instead you are capable of recognizing good young people intent upon providing quality service, be engaging and you will really enjoy. An example, say you like a drink or food done a special way and you believe all places & people do it your way, talk about your specific expectations with these young folks. They will accomplish your needs. Don't be shy. Everything and every person, was quality.

Loved my stay here! The hosts were so accommodating and the location was perfect! And the garage had chandeliers and this whole gallery vibe going on so cool! We stayed in the Beach Room and it was ideally sized for a couple who likes to go out and see the city.

This is our Favorite hotel when we stay downtown! The atmosphere is so cozy and historical. The people there are so nice and will bend over backwards to help with what you need. If you are seeing a show at Music Hall and don't want to drive back to the suburbs late-night, this beautiful option is a no-brainer.

Adorable, well-run hotel full of character! The room was adorable, the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating, and the food was excellent. The bed was comfy, parking is complimentary, as is breakfast and in room snacks. It was within walking distance of Memorial Hall (3 minute walk if that) and lots of great restaurants plus Washington Park. The next time we have plans in OTR, we will definitely be staying at the Symphony again.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but ate at the restaurant. First of all, we ate here a few years ago and I remember the food being good. This time, not so much. It was a Friday night (Nov 2023.) We ordered Caesar salads, and the lettuce on both of ours was brown and wilted, so we sent them back and ordered a different salad. While they were getting the new salads ready, they must have put our mains (both were fish) under the heat lamps, because after we got the new salads (which were fine), the fish came out and it was completely over cooked. You could easily tell it was overcooked just by looking. My grouper was dry and rubbery, and my wife's salmon was completely dried out. We would have sent these back too but had a symphony concert to go to. No way we ever come back here.

Such a beautiful hotel. The room was beautiful and very nicely decorated. The dining room and the rooftop were equally beautiful. The service was also top notch. Will definitely be staying here next time we visit Cincinnati.

Attended the Who concert. Right across from stadium. Stayed 2 nights. Rooms were unique and very comfortable. Service was very attentive. Will definitely return on my next trip to Cincinnati.

Stopped by for a pre-dinner drink since we were staying in the hotel. The bar a and restaurant area is small/cozy and a bit tight, but very well decorated with a historic feel. We would have ended up sitting in the rooftop area, but the heat was oppressive on the day we were there. Our bar experience was less than stellar. Bartender was obviously new, and most likely had no training. When one of our party asked for a glass of their Pinot Grigio, the bartended looked all over and then reached for an Apothic red. My negroni was passible, but the bartender had difficulty finding the gin in the well, and had trouble distinguishing between the Elijah Craig small batch and the Elijah Craig toasted barrel bottles. My wife ended up not ordering a drink due to the slow service and the obvious confusion. The drinks went down the hatch, we settled up and moved on to dinner a little more quickly than we would have liked to.

My wife and I had an awesome time here. The service, and personal care for the hotel makes it a great place vacation spot. The unique charm to include the location to entertainment and restaurants make it a great place to stay!

By far the best jazz bar in Cincinnati! Great cocktails and an impressive bourbon bar.

Symphony Hotel has a quaint bar with live music on the weekends. Usually they are a two/three person jazz type band. The ambience created by the band plus the coziness of the place makes it a pleasurable experience. The location is next to music hall in OTR. It is not obvious and must look for it. Service is friendly and attentive.

Stayed here with my husband for a date night, stayed in the brahms room! Starting off the staff was pretty friendly and nice that was a plus! The room itself needed some updates, the bed is a full size which we knew about- however the mattress sinks in and is pretty old & uncomfortable. The bed frame itself if you move even a tiny bit it will wake everyone up. The shower head was clogged also. Other than that it was pretty standard and nice! My husband and I went to go eat at the resturant to enjoy the some jazz music which was very nice! The food was decent! The best part of this hotel is the location! Very close to Washington Park, and you get free parking in a very nice garage!! The "chef breakfast" was pretty rough, just some pastries and some eggs that had no flavor so that was not good. I ate some honey nut Cheerios those were good. All in all, a decent little hotel, I think overpriced with the room updates that need done and with the Breakfast situation.

Great little hotel! Amazingly beautiful rooms, great service, phenomenal location. Way better than a chain, strongly recommended! Be warned, however, it is an old house, and therefore noisey. Bring earplugs, and be quiet in the hallways, because we can hear every word of your hallway conversation in the rooms!

Rooms were very clean, s and comfortable. The continental breakfast was lacking. The staff was friendly however, and the privacy was great! They had constant classic music playing in the main areas at all times, which was a nice touch. The TV was ΓΌber slow. Kept giving me a "storage full" message. Overall, we would return.

  • 2/5 Sharon H. 10 months ago on Google
I hate to say this but overall this was not a great experience. If a "boutique" hotel means old, outdated, nonfunctioning amenities and lack of comfort then this fits that description. The big PLUS is the location. Easy walk to restaurants, Music Hall and Memorial Hall which was a great perk. We stayed here (Mozart room) because we were attending a concert at Memorial Hall and liked the convenience of walkability to the venue and surrounding restaurants. The room was extremely outdated and frankly not very convenient as far as providing space for clothing, bathroom products, etc. The furniture was so old that the wood was stained and the drawers looked dirty and were not lined. There was a wardrobe in the room that we hung a few items in but even that piece of furniture was in need of repair and the doors were difficult to open and close. The bathroom consisted of a shower that did not look very clean and a toilet. The sink was outside of the bathroom so after using the toilet, you have to open the door and step outside to wash your hands. The liquid soap provided at that sink however appeared to have been mostly water which tells me that they have refilled it with some water to save money. Not cool and not particularly hygienic especially when you consider that this is a hotel and many people stay in the room over time and open that bathroom door to get to the sink to wash their hands after toileting. The door to the bathroom did not shut firmly either. The bed had a very high mattress and my husband and I are both tall people but it was difficult to get in and out of the bed. If you are short, forget staying in this room or bring a step stool. Actually, there should have been one in the room. We did not sleep well because we faced the street and two windows faced the bed. The shades were inoperable and even though they were halfway down they were so sheer that it would not have mattered. The light shone brightly in our room all night long. They did provide two eye-masks however they do not stay on and was pretty much worthless. The TV was awful and operating the air conditioner was a challenge which we never did master. It is the weirdest set-up I have ever seen. We were given 2 keys to the room and to unlock the room also wasn't smooth. Same issue with the front door key code when we came in from our concert at 10:30. We punched the code in numerous times before we could get it to work. If you have any type of knee, hip issue or are elderly and cannot handle steep stairs I think all of the rooms are upstairs which is accessed by a very steep old, wooden staircase with a low rail on the left side. The check-in process is different as is the parking process. I will say it was nice to have a parking garage to park our vehicle. When I reserved this room (several months ago) the confirmation referenced a nice restaurant and a nice cocktail lounge. Neither was available. There is a complimentary breakfast but we did not partake. It runs from 9AM - 11AM. I am not sure how that was possible since the restaurant wasn't open but we did not try it so I cannot really provide feedback. One of the nice things (other than location) was the rooftop patio area. I paid $189 (after a $30 discount offered on their website) and I feel that was way overpriced. We left very early and I did not even shower because I was not comfortable with the way the shower looked. We got up and immediately packed our things and headed for home. They are renovating downstairs it appears but their bedrooms are in sad need of repair and updating. The sheets and bedding seemed very clean although the bedspread did not look fresh at all. They also have all of these fragile tchotchkes sitting around everywhere which would be OK if there was ample space to place personal items but there is not. They did leave us waters and snacks which was nice. They provide robes (which we did not use) and there is a coffee set up in the room - unfortunately they provide coffee, sugar, creamer but nothing to stir the coffee with.

Had a lovely 4 night stay. Melissa was a great host- very communicative and friendly. The hotel itself was gorgeous and well kept. They provided us with easy to access nearby parking, though nearly everything we needed to do for a conference was within a short walking distance. Continental Breakfast on the weekend was incredible, but the 9am start time for coffee was a bit too late for my caffeine addicted friend and I who wake up pretty early. I’m in love with Cincinnati after visiting and already dreaming of another visit and stay at Symphony Hotel.

The location is great. However, I can't recommend this hotel. The shining lights from the hallway and outside light up the room making it really difficult to sleep. They give you sleep masks on your pillow, because they know this is an issue but they were uncomfortable. Without them though, the light is super bright and it is impossible to sleep. Also, the check in directions mention complimentary breakfast. However, most of the items listed were not complimentary. It is really confusing because what was complimentary was listed with what you have to pay extra for. I believe it was $18.95 for eggs and bacon. The complimentary items were basically coffee. The manager in the morning at checkout seemed rude and didn't greet us at first. He seemed to with others. It was a really off putting encounter and a fitting end to a bad experience.

  • 5/5 David H. 1 year ago on Google
The food and service were excellent. They had an excellent jazz band playing as well. The first floor is the restaurant with floors above for the hotel rooms. The 1st floor is beautifully restored with an amazing sculpture above the fireplace. We enjoyed the flatbread app, chicken parmesan, and pork chops for the main course. The Manhattan and Lemon Drop martini for drinks.

The location of the Inn is fantastic and parking was easy and convenient. Regretfully our dinner service in the Jazz lounge was disappointing. We were looking forward to a much needed relaxing dinner, but were seated at a high top next to the door where the musicians had to walk in and out multiple times (and it was cold). I made the dinner reservations a month earlier. Our server seemed to not want to be bothered by us. We truly expected better service in such a beautiful Inn. Our food was excellent though! The complimentary breakfast was very good and the service did improve in the morning.

Just returned from an overnight stay here and decided to make reservations for another stay! Innkeeper Melissa was incredibly helpful with places to visit and directions. She was the perfect host and represented the hotel well. Beautiful rooms, incredible atmosphere and wonderful location. I HIGLY recommend The Symphony. Also, I must add, I was very impressed with the extra touches like fresh chocolate dipped strawberries in our room and the chandeliers in the very safe parking garage!

The Symphony Hotel was a charming and comfortable place to stay. Across the street from the Cincinnati Music Hall, you can enjoy the ballet and a nice dinner all within walking distance. Plenty of places to sit and have a glass of wine too. Melissa, the host, was lovely, courteous, and so accommodating. All this with free parking and continental breakfast with hot morning coffee. I highly recommend.

Loved our stay at The Symphony! Such a unique and enjoyable experience. The check-in process, access to the secured garage, breakfast and check-out went exactly as described. Melissa was fantastic and very accommodating. The room was quaint but beautifully furnished and decorated. Loved having a couple of drinks while listening to the smooth jazz trio. Location offered easy access all over OTR. Highly recommend both the food and stay!
