I am researching a new tour focused on the Undergroud Railroad and found myself in Cincinnati where Herriet Beecher Stowe lived for a time. The home was closed during my stay but, they were gracious enough to open for my visit. They were passionate, informative, friendly, and accommodating. I highly recommend this tour for locals and tourists.

If you love history, you'll really like this place! I've lived in Cincinnati my entire life but didn't know about the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. We visited on a Thursday so it wasn't busy. The tour guide was great. There is the "house history" - how / why it was built, owners, uses, etc - & the Harriet & her family history...Very interesting! They are renovating portions right now, but they've done a good job of letting you see as much as possible of the renovation work while staying safe. I learned a lot. Overall glad we went & would recommend a visit.

Very interesting historical place. It isnot completely finished, they still have to restore quite a bit. But the volunteers are very knowledgeable and it has been an educational and fun visit.

The guides are volunteers, so hate to be critical, but the one we had was unprofessional and seemed like a lot of the snipits of stories were untrue after I researched online. Listened to the other tour guide while walking around the home who seemed to have much more credible stories and professional approach. It's not in a good area and we were also approached by a homeless woman asking for money while we were looking at the front of the home and the historical sign.

It was nice place to go and bring others. It was nice to know and tell your children about history and learning about history from this woman and other people history.

I really enjoyed the tour. Even though it's still going through some construction it was still exciting to see the before. I'd definitely recommend to go now before everything changes so that if you go back you get to see the before and after. It's also really interesting to see how they're trying to figure out how it was before it was remodeled. I know I'll be going back

A work in progress but the guides share a fascinating, detailed story of Stowe and her family.

I attended with a large group. The information shared was invaluable. There is so much history in Ohio, and it would be very beneficial if everyone is able to visit.

Very interesting and informative. Ed did an excellent job of explaining the history of the Beecher and Stowe families and the background of Unlce Tom's Cabin. We learned from and enjoyed the tour.

If you're in Cincinnati I recommend going here. It's a short museum. Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin of course. Fascinating to hear where the content of the story came from. She either lived or talked to people ababout stories that had a life in the book. Family life sad. A child of hers died of cholera. She used that tragedy to help get the correct emotions when writing about families separated through slave trades. Odd to understand that she was worried that the North would see it as too harsh on the South so she tried to tame it down. However the South vilified her portrayal as inaccurate (too harsh) not the North. Also fascinating was to find out there why Uncle Tom is such a negative term. If you've read the book you know he suffered greatly because he would not beat other slaves. Why bad? Actors trying to make a buck sensationalized the story and portrayed him incorrectly. Forgot to take many pictures as I was reading. There are two I took. The museum is trying to find the identity of these people. If you have any information please contact them.

If you love history this is a must in Cincinnati! Our tour guide, Anne (my partner thinks it was Anna so 😬) was so knowledgeable and pleasant! I wish we’d planned better and given ourselves more than an hour. I could have listened to her tell us stories all day. Thank you, Anne for sharing your knowledge with us! The house is under renovations, we’re going to be on the look out to come back when it’s restored. It was worth every penny of the $6.

Such an awesome house. The tour guides are really informative and fun to listen to. The restorations are amazing. I can't wait to see what it looks like finished

I arrived too late for the tour. We did read the signs around the grounds. They told an interesting history of the area and the impact "progress" had on the area's commerce.

In the midst of renovation currently, but still available to visit. Contact the staff first. I had a lovely visit and was able to get some information for my upcoming book. The home is an important part of city history. Check it out and discover why

We took our junior Girl Scout troop to the Harriet Beecher Stowe house to learn about women's suffrage and work towards earning the Suffrage Centennial patch. The girls (4th grade) loved it! The Director Christina Hartlieb who led the event did an amazing job teaching the girls and keeping their attention. I was very impressed and highly recommend this event to other troops or to anyone interested in history.

Everything inside is being renovated- nothing to see. Not worth the $6 to see boards and holes. She didn't live here long (maybe a couple years). It was her father's home that she only stayed in for a short period. Tour guide got off topic a lot.
