I
was
sent
to
St
Elizabeth
ER
by
my
Primary
Care
doctor
after
having
a
scan
on
my
Gallbladder.
My
Doctor
told
me
I
needed
emergency
surgery.
I'm
a
type
one
diabetic
on
an
insulin
pump
and
I
was
fasting.
After
waiting
hours
in
the
ER
the
doctor
told
me
my
condition
was
not
emergent.
So
I
got
my
doctor
on
the
phone
and
she
couldn't
believe
the
ER
doctor
wasn't
taking
my
condition
seriously.
She
said,
My
condition
was
absolutely
emergent
based
on
my
gallbladder
not
functioning
and
me
being
a
type
one
diabetic
further
complicated
matters.
The
ER
doctor
admitted
me
and
told
me
there
was
no
one
on
staff
who
could
preform
my
surgery.
He
told
my
I
could
eat,
but
No
one
came
to
give
me
a
menu.
I
kept
reminding
the
nurses
that
I
was
a
diabetic
and
I
needed
to
eat.
I
was
ignored
until
9pm
when
I
demanded
a
menu.
At
this
point
my
blood
sugar
was
dropping
fast
after
fasting
all
day.
They
told
me
the
cafeteria
was
closed
for
the
day,
but
one
nurse
was
able
to
finally
get
me
some
food.
After
spending
the
night
in
the
ER
I
finally
got
a
bed
upstairs.
My
nurse
Jane,
(I
think
that
was
her
name)
a
large
women
with
terrible
bedside
manner.
Jane
told
me
to
take
my
gown
off
as
she
needed
to
strip
search
me.
She
felt
my
breast
and
looked
at
my
vagina.
Then
she
had
me
roll
over,
spread
my
butt
cheeks
as
she
looked
inside.
Jane
told
me
this
is
common
practice,
but
I've
spent
a
lot
of
time
in
hospitals
and
this
is
a
first
for
me.
I
honestly
felt
violated
by
it.
Jane
was
the
only
nurse
in
my
room
when
she
strip
search
me.
Normally
when
naked
body
parts
need
to
be
examined,
it's
done
by
a
doctor
with
a
witness
in
the
room.
Not
this
time.
Jane
furthered
my
discomfort
during
my
stay
by
withholding
my
pain
medication.
My
doctor
ordered
pain
medication
and
Jane
split
my
dose
in
half
and
refused
to
give
me
the
other
half
of
my
dose
when
I
asked
for
it.
Even
after
I
finally
had
my
surgery
performed
and
my
gallbladder
removed,
Jane
treated
me
like
a
junkie
who
was
drug
seeking.
I
had
legitimate
pain
because
I
had
an
organ
removed
and
my
nurse
wouldn't
give
me
all
of
my
pain
meds.
She
treated
me
like
I
was
faking
it
for
drugs.
It
made
me
wonder
if
she
was
taking
the
other
half
of
my
pain
meds
herself.
On
top
of
all
of
this,
I
wasn't
given
my
regular
medication
the
entire
time
I
was
in
the
hospital.
My
daily
maintenance
medication
that
my
doctor
prescribed
was
not
given
to
me
even
though
I
asked
for
it
multiple
time.
These
are
medications
that
should
not
be
missed.
I
could
go
on
and
on
about
the
appalling
treatment
in
this
hospital,
but
I'll
spare
the
book
long
review.
I
won't
go
back
to
this
hospital.
Lord
help
anyone
who
is
seen
in
this
horrid
place.
