This is a great little hometown Cafe where they seek to know your name and learn it quickly. When I go there, I'm always greeted warmly and seated quickly. My order is taken and the food arrives quickly and is always perfect! The place is decorated with reclaimed wood for the tables, and decorating the sides of the cabinets and on the walls. It's impeccably clean and smells amazing! They take suggestions well and act on them quickly, too! A few weeks ago, I suggested longer straws for the taller glasses so the straws don't fall below the surface of the customer's drinks, they listened. The next time I went in they had longer straws! The Benbrook Cafe has everything I could ever ask for in a cafe... the burgers are awesome, as are the chicken-fried chicken and steaks. The meatloaf is like my Mother's and takes me back in time. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are happy to accommodate you if you want breakfast for dinner, or lunch or dinner for breakfast - all with a smile! If you like traditional breakfasts, this is definitely for you! This is my weekend Go-To place, whether it's just me, me plus-one, or with a larger group of friends. They can accommodate nearly every size group I've ever brought in and are very quick to assemble tables that meet your group's needs! My eggs are always perfect and the omelets are second to NONE! My request for gravy on TOP of my chicken fried chicken is respected, and even I have days that I just "want what I want", they do their best to accommodate... also with a smile 😃! For desserts, they offer a rotating selection of decadent treats that rival any 5-star hotel I've ever stayed in! The desserts look amazing and taste like Heaven - right here on Earth!!! I place my orders early for holidays and my guests always rave about the deserts... So, if you want food that makes you happy at an affordable price, with people who genuinely appreciate your business and treat you well, and a place that's easy to get to and makes you WANT to return - then the Benbrook Cafe is your place! Come early, bring your friends, and return often!

Benbrook cafe After passing Benbrook Cafe numerous times and seeing the parking lot always full, we decided to stop in for breakfast. The location, next door to a gas station, is a hole in the wall and part of an older strip mall set up. It’s definitely nothing fancy. We were allowed to seat ourselves and our waitress did a wonderful job of keeping our coffee hot and full. I ordered the Two Egg breakfast which included grits and wheat toast. I also added an order of shredded hash browns, because it’s not breakfast if there’s no potatoes! My husband ordered the Bacon or Sausage breakfast with Sausage and added an order of hash browns to his order as well. The food arrived hot, but both of our eggs were undercooked to our specifications and the wheat toast wasn’t very palatable - even with the addition of whipped butter. The grits were delicious, but the hash browns weren’t crispy even though the outside was browned. Pros: They offer senior citizens discounts, breakfast discounts from 6:00 - 11:00 am and daily specials. The service was wonderful and they offer pies in a cooler by the register if you’re looking for dessert. Cons: The food just didn’t measure up. Breakfast staples like eggs and hash browns were undercooked. The inside decor was tired, the floors were messy and the supplies were disorganized. The ceiling tiles were discolored and drooping from the ceiling. We felt like there was a lot of room for improvement as far as sanitation, cleanliness and organization. Sadly, we have no plans to return and it’s not a restaurant that we’d recommend.

Unassuming little cafe that's been here forever, it seems. Somehow, my husband and I had never eaten here before this past Sunday. We both had the Southern Breakfast. Oh my goodness, it was fantastic. Hubby had hashbrowns. I had the home fries. Both were good and crispy. The eggs were cooked perfectly to my "over medium " preference. The biscuit was light and fluffy. The sausage gravy was perfectly seasoned. They were very busy, but the staff was amazing. They had fabulous attitudes and welcoming smiles. We definitely recommend.

When we visited, there were enough flies to consider it an infestation. Not the normal "it's spring in Texas, so we have some flies" amount. There were also fly strips hanging around covered in dead flies, which should have at least been changed out for fresh ones. The guy prepping the orders at the window was dipping sniff, and kept using his spare hand to pick up and spit in his spitter, while handling people's food (seemingly, he touches every order going through that window). The meat from the chicken fried steak tasted very distinctly like it had sat out at room temp before cooking. Very iron tasting and tough. I was not able to eat it. The tea tasted like whatever they prepared it in was improperly washed. The longer I sat in there and looked around, the worse it got. We were *told* that we needed to pay while we were still eating, because they were "changing shifts", and then our waitress continued waiting on new guests. It's dingy and gross, and it's pretty clear that their recent renovations were just a thick coat of paint over the old stuff, and some new vinyl floors. Hard pass on returning or recommending this place to anyone I don't hate. I will continue to drive the extra 5 minutes and pay the extra $2 to get to West Side Cafe, and never look back.

I want to give 3.5 stars. I loved my cheeseburger. It is a greasy spoon place. A rough worn atmosphere, including customers, but everyone is nice. The staff appear to be trying to do what they can without owner/management support. The day we arrived, they started charging a fee for credit cards. Yet, nobody at the diner knew anything about it before that morning and had no explanation why. The corrected order of cheesesticks were cook thoroughly. First ones were cold inside. The salad and fries were great. My wife says the chicken fried steak was pretty good. Yet, something in there led to rapid digestion. May try again in a few months.

Great little diner. This place has good food, excellent staff and is a throw back to the slower time of life. We really enjoyed the biscuits and the fried eggs were cooked perfectly. There is a ton of food with the specials. We will be back. Just a good homey breakfast

Great small town cafe. Good food generous portions and the best onion rings anywhere! The coconut cream in pie is awesome! Great pricing, and good small town service.

What a great, little cafe. Lots of menu choices, friendly employees, clean facilities and tasty food. We had some hand made onion rings which were served piping hot and were yummy. I had the chef salad, which was quite large, fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed the rolls. The ladies room was also clean.

I always enjoy going here. The food is excellent and the service is always good. The restaurant isn't the most updated or the shiniest, but always clean and the staff are welcoming. They also do take out with a quick phone call and it's usually ready when they say it will be. It's not on the recommendation list, but their Philly cheese steak is actually pretty good and pretty much the entire breakfast menu is excellent. Also their onion rings are hard to beat.

Great "old school" diner. If you are expecting fancy décor, best go someplace else. If you are expecting great traditional American fare at good prices, this is the place for you. My friends and I eat here regularly. I particularly like the Chicken Fried Chicken. So good! Can't go wrong with the breakfasts either.

Great little family Cafe. Prices are very reasonable. Staff is friendly. Food reminds me of a home cooked meal at grandma's. They even offer a variety of sliced pies for your sweet tooth. A cross of hole in the wall and hidden gem cafe.

Waitress Jessica was great and patient with my phone call. Chicken fried steak and chocolate pie seemed rushed, but it was good for a first dine. Atmosphere is cozy, quaint, and family friendly. Thank you

We stopped by this little cafe when passing through Benbrook. The cafe was pretty busy, but service was fast and friendly. We ordered two slices of pie, coffee, and a basket of fries. The pies were excellent, the coffee was fresh, but the fries were slightly soggy and a bit greasy. No big deal, it happens sometimes. This is a small town cafe, not a Michelin Star restaurant, so they get a pass. Looking around at what everyone else was eating makes me want to come back and try some other items.

Really good food and service. Why the poor review? Because on this frigid day, it was so cold in there that everyone ate with their coats on and zipped up. We were told the heater's pilot light was on the roof and the owner wouldn't' be in until later. Really! If the owner thinks so little of his clients - I'll go elsewhere where at last for a few weeks.

We visited for the first time, we live in benbrook, I got the scrambled eggs, sausage links , biscuits, and gravy. The server was very nice, very helpful, for my personal taste my eggs were over cooked, my sausage links look like they had been microwaved, or the were over cooked on the flat top, they were crunchy, the biscuit was good sausage gravy was Luke warm. This is a small town type dinner busy looked like alot of regulars. I don't think we would be back. Please understand this is my personal taste. There were alot of customers and the service was good. Support local if you live in benbrook stop by try fir yourself. Judge for yourself.

Went with some friends who raved about it. We ordered specials of the day. Half of them were good. The only good thing I got was mashed potatoes. Yum. Meat was tough and chewy. Green beans were straight from a can. Will try again another time when they have more help. One of my friends said the pea salad was good.

Our go-to place. Great food and we love Diana our server. She always makes us feel at home. Chicken fried steak or chicken, pancakes, salad, burgers, breakfast for dinner, whatever you order will be delicious. It's also budget friendly. We don't leave hungry and it doesn't break the bank. It's a neighborhood diner so no fancy tablecloths here, but it makes up for it in every other way.

The food was delicious, fresh and served hot, just like a traditional dinner. Our server was very sweet. Seeing her interact with her regulars, you can see how good she is and how well she knows her customers. I would love to return if I'm ever on this side of town again.

Totally loved this place! A little hole in the wall, so to speak, but utterly a great place to eat! Will definitely go back! Large portions and low price, definitely a 10 in my book! Great service also!

My experience was pretty good. The employees were very friendly and respectful. The food was very delicious but the only thing I did not like was the fact that it was really hot in the dining room. It was 85 degrees in there. Overall I was very pleased.

Great service. They know what a glass of tea is supposed to be....big! I never had to ask for a refill. Clean bathroom. The chicken fried was a real steak! I had to use my knife which is the ultimate compliment...you know it's real meat. The carrots tasted like carrots not a can and the rolls and okra where good too. Everyone should eat here, it's bucket list worthy.

First time eating here. Abby, our waitress, was super sweet, didn't hover & kept our drinks full. The food was good, great prices & it's a local spot for all day breakfast. The only reason I give 4 starts instead of 5 is its too warm in there as if the the A/C is out or not turned down low enough to cool the place. Other then the temp inside, this is a fantastic place.

Great home cooking Cafe. Good food! Friendly waitresses and staff! Great place! Had the grilled hamburger steak with salad and green beans. All were great. They give you big salad.

The food is decent and priced well. However, I just had a terrible experience. The waitresses are bitter and angry. This was only my second time to go. I had to listen to a conversation about broken coffee mugs and who was going to pay for them, shouting back and forth over my head. The waitress was very unfriendly with me. I will not return.

I have patronized this business many times. The food is pretty good. Great variety, great pricing. However, the customer service could use some tweaking. My husband and I stood at the front, waiting to be seated or at least acknowledged for over 10 minutes. We were passed by several employees. No hello, no comment at all. Another family came in after us, they were acknowledged by at least 1-2 servers. And, allowed to choose where they wanted to seat and were seated while we stood there. We just stood there. We thought we would get some acknowledgment then...no. We left. On to West Side Cafe where the customer service is excellent!
