Came just based off the reputation of the Google reviews and we loved it. Yes, a little pricey but you're getting some HUGE portions and quality food. (Honestly, the wife and I could've split one meal) Highlights were the beef tips and rice and the Mac and cheese. Honestly though everything was good. Chef Steve is a master! We'll be back soon!

Was visiting from Indiana. Tried for first time after friend highly recommended it, and it was the best soul food restaurant we’ve ever eaten at! Everything was fresh and hot, and the staff was professional and friendly. We had the ox tails, greens, yams, broccoli cheese casserole, 3 different desserts-absolutely delicious! And when I say even the Kool-aid was good-if we lived there, it would be a regular stop for sure! Definitely going back when we return to Dallas! God bless you!

Fish was fresh and hot. Yams were good not too sweet but just right. Didn’t particularly like the broccoli rice and cheese, a little extra wet and lacks flavor. Gravy over the rice was delicious. Would have preferred white bread over the hush puppies. Husband said the strawberry cake was moist and delicious. Overall pretty good.

My first time patronizing this restaurant. I ordered a meatloaf plate, the meatloaf was saturated with juice and my sides were small in portion, the yam was plain. I believe they should add marshmallows and little cinnamon to give it that kick. IJS

I drive 50 minutes, and they never disappoint. I love their beef tips and rice. The chicken and dumplings were satisfying today as well. Food is seasoned well... not overly seasoned.

Food is AMAZING! I’m only giving 4 stars because walking into this place is confusing. The walkway was blocked off with chairs with only like 4 tables available that were full. The rest of the tables didn’t have any chairs, so I had to come taste my food in the car. Business is BLACK OWNED which is why I drive out my way to try it. Again the food was A1 but the confusion from walking into the restaurant, ordering, paying, and eating was not a pleasant dining experience like the sign said on the front door.

Great customer service! You get alot on your plate. Line is long on Sunday's. Food is good. Remind you of grandma's cooking. If she was into soul food. You can call in your order. Which is what I'll do the next time. Try let me know what you think.

This is actually my place of employment. The people I work with are great! Nice family atmosphere. So if anyone needs a job they are definitely hiring. The pace is fast and not a lot of people can deal with that and the customers. The food is also great. They follow recipes so that you can expect the same great taste every time you come in. Everyone loves the oxtails or beef tips and rice. My personal favorite is the meatloaf.

I'm not a local.. I live in New Jersey but I'm a southerner at heart and love good soul food. On a dear friend's suggestion, I drove a long way to get this great plate of food today and boy I was not disappointed! Great atmosphere inside, the line moved quickly as the gents behind the counter ensured everyone's order was on point. Food is amazing! The instant I got in my car to drive back to my hotel I had to taste something so I went for the greens.. sigh.. they made me regret not living closer. Perfectly seasoned just needing a fork. I mean..I can cook but nothing like this. Oxtails we juicy, plentiful and big as you can see. Mac and Cheese is soo good it makes me mad that mine isn't even close to this. Perfect Yams, potato salad and cornbread.. Lord have mercy.. just go already.. you know you want some. And don't forget dessert 😉 Anytime I'm back here I'll make it my business to go back over and over. Yum!

This food is amazing! Y’all must come and support! It is a black owned restaurant as well! I live in Red Oak, Tx and willing to drive 50 minutes! It’s that good! 😊

My first time here. Great food! Very fast service. I had the fried pork chops with greens, mac and cheese, and yams. It was awesome to see hot water corn bread on their menu. I haven't had it in years. My friend got the beef tips. They were just as good as the pork chops. I can't wait to go back!

Overall the food was great, I didn’t realize you could change the order of Beef Tips/Rice to Beef Tips over Mashed Potato. My table’s other entrees: Chicken Spaghetti (excellent) and Fried Pork Chop (excellent). Veggies: Yams (excellent), Greens (excellent), Okra/Tomato (good), Broccoli/Cheese Casserole (good), mac/cheese (just ok). Dessert: Peach Cobbler (excellent). Hot Water Cornbread was excellent. I would return to see how the Beef Tips would taste with the Mashed Potato. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant…excellent customer service.

Madea's has some of the best soul food in Texas! I've never been here, so Saturday was our first time coming to this particular Restaurant. We were not disappointed! I ordered the Smothered Pork Chops with white rice, corn, and broccoli rice, and cheese! It was delicious 😋 My husband ordered the Ox Tails, Mac and Cheese, Greens, and sweet potatoes. 😋 I had hot water corn bread, and he had the dinner roll. We also ordered desserts the sweet potato pie, and peacan pie 🥧 OMG they were both delicious 😋 I definitely would recommend this restaurant!! Keep in mind that if you order any fried foods, the wait time will be anywhere from 12 minutes to 15 minutes depending on what you order! You can eat there or get it to go. We decided to eat there. They open at 11am, so we arrived about 12 noon and it was only about 3 customers in the restaurant, but as soon as 1pm rolled around it started getting very busy! There is also plenty of parking and we had no problem with that either. But as customers started to flow in, the parking starts to get a little bit scares 😱 Onw other thing our bill was $61.00 for the two of us! The ox tails were $27.00 and change. So be sure to look at prices if you're not wanting to pay a great deal. I personally thought that was a bit steap, however we were already there, and that's what my husband wanted so we paid the $27.00. Also the pieces of Pies were $6.50 ea. I felt that was a bit much too. But again we just didn't take a moment to look at prices. It's like cafeteria style service, and you pay at the end of the line when you're food gets down the line to you, (if that helps).

The food is delicious. The staff members are very professional. However, the wait time to receive your food is horrible. I wish there was another more efficient way for them to get food out to customers sooner. The food is good, you'll get over the wait. I had meatloaf, cabbage, broccoli and cheese casserole, green beans, and cornbread. I've also tried their smothered pork chops, greens, yams, and mac n cheese. Everything was delicious!! I recommend this place if you want some delicious soul food.

Food was delicious. Meatloaf was seasoned well with a tomato sauce on top. I was happy that it didn't taste like ketchup, but more like a spaghetti type sauce. Macaroni was super cheesy. I tasted my Love beef tips and they were SOO good. Tasted just like a Sunday roast.

Madea's is amazing! The food is beyond delicious and the portion sizes are insane. If you can finish one of their lunch special plates, you must have a bottomless pit for a stomach. Once you eat here, you will come back again. Promise.

On my visit to Madea’s I ordered the chicken fried chicken, candied yams, Black Eyed Peas, and cabbage. I ordered a side of mac & cheese that was good but definitely could have used a little bit more seasoning. While the food alone would have made for a remarkable experience, the exceptional service provided by the staff elevated my visit to new heights. Every member of the team at Madea’s exuded warmth, hospitality, and genuine care. From the moment I entered the restaurant to the moment I left, I felt like an honored guest. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Their politeness and genuine enthusiasm added an extra layer of joy to the entire experience. 10/10

Bring your appetite because Madea's will bring the portions! The food is very good & the ladies are helpful. Had the smothered porkchops, greens, okra and tomatos, broccoli cheese rice & saltwater cornbread. The red Kool-aid was a definite bonus!

I've eaten here once and the food was good. I went there today and there were over 30 people in line. The line was barely moving. So, I left. They know that Sundays are busy for them. So, they should implement a better system for moving the line. Perhaps they should use Chick-fil-A's model and have a couple of employees work the line and take orders of the people in line and take them to the kitchen staff.

The staff is very patient and welcoming. I enjoyed the fried chicken and strawberry cake. I had mac & cheese, dressing and black eyed peas for my sides. The sides left much to be desired & weren’t flavorful. If I choose to return, I’ll try something different.

👍 I came here because someone told me that this place has the best tacos in the area.
