Fun family outing. BRING CASH for tickets; Cards are not accepted. $5 per adult. $4 per child 12 and under. Parking in the gravel lot is limited. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early for tickets and line position. There are 4 picnic tables where you can enjoy a snack while you wait. There is only one porta-potty. The train ride is about 40 to 45 minutes round trip, through the 31 squate miles of Trinity park. Only two average size adults will fit per bench seat. Bring a coat on the cooler days; The open air train is breezy. You may have to wait in a long line of Zoo traffic on the weekend just to get to the train station. Plan extra driving time on busy days do you don't miss your train.

Such a disappointment. We planned a trip to Ft Worth for the sole purpose of visiting this train park since our son loves trains. We made sure they were open according to the hours listed and calendar on their website only to arrive to a locked gate. There was no number listed on their website for us to contact anyone. I do not normally write reviews, but hopefully this saves someone from a trip that ends in disappointment for their kids.

I want to start out and say that the core experience here is nice. If you are into slow train rides through semi-scenic areas, this is for you. That said, everything else is...lacking to say the least. I am not one to complain but there was NO management at all. To the owner, please invest in a good manager to create policies/procedures. Invest in some materials to put out that indicate where lines begin. We waited about 2 hours not because the line was particularly long at the time, but because the line was setup in such a way that it picked up passengers from the middle? Very strange to see folks that waited even longer than myself not be able to board the train because of a lack of any system what so ever. To the owner, grow up and grow this business up. This would have been a five star review had better management been employed. Signage, fencing, queue-system, ANYTHING to that effect would make this place pop. I will be checking back to see how it's doing in a few months as this ride just reopened. Hoping to see improvement to make this an experience worth revisiting.

I have always loved this train ride before going into the zoo, but haven't gone in a few years. I read reviews before we went and had low expectations. I also took out cash because of reviews, but that was unnecessary. There is a self-service kiosk that does take cash, but it also takes cards. You are issued a ride card, kind of like the preloaded cards you get at entertainment centers. Also, while there are not painted or railed areas to mark boarding, there was a line and most people were respectful of the line order. Those that weren't had enough of us and the workers telling them where the line was, they gave up. There are still two trains but one broke down while we were waiting, causing a longer delay for us to ride, but we stuck it out (about an hour wait). We were excited when it was our turn and my grandson's were having a good time until we reached the furthest turn around by the basketball hoops in Trinity Park where the train came to a slow halt. The driver was kind enough to back up until everyone was in the shade, and luckily it wasn't as hot with a slight breeze. A couple other train employees showed up with tools and they got the train working again after what seemed like 45ish minutes. It's nice that the concession stand is open again and they had water and drinks available. Overall the staff were nice, maybe not the most friendly, but they were kind. It would have been nice to have the ride credited back for future use, but it won't prevent us from going again.

Super cute little train ride. Something fun to do with the small kids. Takes you around forest park and it's actually really nice. It costs 6.00 for adults and children age 1-12 is 5.00. Only open on weekends 10 to 3pm. Weather depending too. And it's cash only.

Timeless classic. The adventure that I was able to enjoy as a kid was gladly shared with my son. He thoroughly enjoyed the approx 40min ride. It is cash only and kids 1 to 12 are $4. The Trinity River is just not the same as I remembered it (dirtier now). Still an enjoyable experience with kiddos when the weather is nice.

My son loves trains. We frequent the zoo often and see this empty train station and track all the time. My wife researched how to ride this train multiple times, and we decided to try and ride it numerous times, but it was always closed when we went to check it out. One day we drove by and saw it open, and my wife decided to inquire about the hours of operation. My wife spoke to women at the ticket booth and asked about hours because we rarely saw it in operation. We were told to check the website the day we wanted to ride, and it would tell us if they were open or not. My wife refuted that she had with no luck. The website always says it is open, but it isn't when she arrives. The lady rudely just kept repeating to check the website, no help. So the next time we wanted to try and ride the train, we looked at the website and discovered that they were only open on weekends, from 11 am to 4 pm. So on May 22nd, 2022, we checked the website, and it said Open on their website. We headed out and tried to catch the eleven AM train. We pulled out cash and drove over. It was sunny outside and wasn't windy, and there was no precipitation in sight, and none was predicted for that day. The temperature that day was well above 50 degrees F, which according to their website, the temp has to be greater than 50 degrees, and no conceivable harsh weather. We walked up to the train station with about five other families with kids, and there was a closed sign and no train in sight. Very disappointing. We were ready to give cash and conform to whatever rules they established to ride the train. According to other reviews, this is this business's standard practice and operates at its discretion. Maybe we'll be able to ride this train sometime in the next couple of years. We would ride it once a month if it were more reliable of a company to work with.

We decided to plan a birthday party here for a 2 year old who loves trains. There was weeks of trying to call and email to get information about group pricing but never heard back. Someone went up there on a day they were open to ask about group pricing and was told “I don’t know anything about that. You’ll have to talk to the owner” and when asked to talk to him, was then told “he’s working on a train so you can’t talk to him. Leave your name and number and he might call you”. Never got a call. We got up there on the day of the party and were told very rudely that the train wasn’t open that day (a Saturday) but they’d be running the train for practice and we were more than welcome to watch. Despite all the attempts of trying to get pricing and what not, we were never told the train would be closed that day. Safe to say we won’t be coming back here

Great place to take the kids, and it's also something different to do around fort worth.

Train ride was nice, but management was horrible. There was no real line or organization, and people who had got there early did get a seat on the train. And the next one didn't come for an hour. There was one woman working there, but she wasn't very friendly and didn't do a good enough job letting people know what was going on. Some simple steps could make things run smoother. That being said, my kids loved the actual train ride.

I've been waiting to ride the train for a few weeks. I check the web site frequently. Beautiful day Saturday & it was scheduled to be open. Drove from Lewisville & got there at 11:00 am. A few cars for already there waiting for it to open. No signage about being closed. Came back 2 hours later still closed & no signage. Very disappointed. Another couple we spoke with had driven from Garland. I would love to ride the train but don't want to make another trip & be closed. Phone number doesn't confirm that is for the train. Please keep your web site current.

Ive rode this train 3 times now, it's so much fun when you are looking for a inexpensive activity. Located very close to the Fort Worth Zoo (you even turn into the Zoos parking lot and go all the way back) this mini open coach train is a lot of fun and the kids loved it. The cost is $5 for adults, $4 for kids 1-12 and seniors, and free for under 1 year old. CASH ONLY! It's a beautiful ride through the trees of Trinity Park, over Bridges to see sunbathing turtles, and on a lucky day, an ice cream man at the Trinity stop on the way back. Bring CASH!! The train only accept cash, no checks, or cards of any kind. The train departs on the hour every hour so make sure to show up a bit early. Be sure to check their Facebook page to make sure they are open. Also, try to sit in a coach further back than directly behind the conductor, it does smell of gas since the train is gas powered. The seats can be a bit hard too so if you wanna be really comfortable, bring a blanket or pillow to sit on. Enjoy the ride!! It really is a treat!...by the way, there is a food truck park across the river.... Woot!

Have to start by saying the ride itself was VERY enjoyable. The issue/question I have is why aren't the tickets sold by the hour for select time slots since train takes an hour to circle back around. To ensure everyone has an enjoyable hour ride, please sell the tickets by the hour, especially since the train only holds 50 people. Clear signage for where the line begins with how long the wait time is for thw next train. If the sale of tickets do not change, I suggest getting there very early in the day to ensure you have a full hour to enjoy the ride. If you end up on the five o'clock train, you only get to ride 30 minutes.

I waited 45 minutes which is normal apparently 1-2 hour wait. But the blonde who works there told people to wait to load and as she loaded people, there we were waiting another hour when so many had got there in the last ten minutes. Staff isn't good or friendly. We were the only Mexicans so we also feel very targeted. Don't recommend.

I wish they had put a sign at the booth located in the Forrest Park. It is closed up and to purchase tickets you must go to the location outside the zoo, but it is a mad house to get to it because of the line for the zoo. It is cash only and no atm nearby or restrooms. So for people who are out of town or visiting the area don't know that would be helpful. I am from the area but had not been on that mini train for years and was wondering the changes.

From what I’ve been able to find the train is privately owned and unfortunately the owner has been I’ll so the train has not been running. I know the last 4 times I’ve taken my son it had shown open on the calendar but on arrival the gates were locked. I think the city should by the train out and operate it or give it to the zoo. Just gave one star so hopefully review might save people a trip

I give that place a 10/10 the redesigning was the best train station has a new redesign painting the trains they had nice lights on the train and the zoo is connecting with the miniature railroad I went there with my friends 👍❤️ I love it note in the 1990s this place was in business before a guy got a heart attack they added a diesel train but they're not popular anymore that they used to be but they are popular now cuz steam engines got removed

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by this (lack of) experience. We checked online the day before to confirm time and date they were open, planned our day around this activity and then arrived to find they were closed. After parents and kids had waited for the train, someone came down 15 minutes before departure to say they were “closed and working on the train today”. Big disappointment for a lot of kids and parents.

This has been one of the most unique places that the DFW mettoplex has to offer. Unfortunately for whatever reason, the owners don't update the website and what hours the train is actually open. So many people show up thinking the train is open, wait around for it, then leave with disappointment. Guys this business is all about our children. If you can't run it correctly, can you please sell the business to someone who can?

Nice 45 ride my 2 and 4 year old as well as as my husband. Bring plenty of snacks if you have little ones and a blanket to cushion your bottom from the hard wood seats.

We have come many times but today on New Year’s Day we came and promised our kids because they said they were open on the website and they are not. They are closed. They should have updated it because now I have very upset children. This is ridiculous

First I did not see anybody working here till I had been here I hour, if I had known ,I would have went straight over and got in line there should be somewhere to sit while you are in line. If there was somebody Manning the ticket booth it would really help to know what's going on. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

While the train was super fun, the organization of the "line" to board the train, needs some more thought. People were waiting near the yellow line on the concrete for 30-60 minutes, and others that came later were lining up at the front of the train and those folks got on before the ones that were waiting for so long! Children were crying because they waited 30-60 minutes and didn't get on ... therefore the family had to wait another 30 minutes! Parents were upset too! All could be solved with chained lanes, like at Six Flags. A little line organization would be wonderful for this fun train ride.

Over priced for half a ride we took our family 70 dollars. I'm feel very cheated and my grandkids didn't get the whole ride . The train used to go all the way down to the duck pond if it's short because of all the construction they're doing away on there then that's acceptable But I feel like they should notify people I feel like they should cut the price in half since you're not getting the full ride . If the ride has been shortened then they should put signs out letting you know that I'm very unhappy about it and I feel like I should get half my money back. And the people that worked there were not friendly at all I know their job is stressful with so many people but if you're gonna be in that business to bring happiness to children and families then they should try a little harder And the people that worked there were not friendly at all I know their job is stressful with so many people but if you're gonna be in that business to bring happiness to children and families then they should try a little harder
