This is a smaller museum as they go, but definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. The staff was friendly and helpful, the store interesting too. I most enjoyed the DC3, being able to walk through the cabin and sitting in the seats imaging a flight in the past.

I had the most amazing experience with CR Smith Museum. Patricia was amazing and patient. The employees were amazing and of course the building was an amazing mood all on it's own. The plane is a mood that's unforgettable. Thank you so much for making my birthday party one of the most beautiful and exciting times I've ever had. ❤

I last went to this museum about twenty years ago. Admission is 12 dollars to enter, payable at the gift shop. I did not notice a lot of visitors that were present were American Airlines employees in corporate indoctrination tours. (I don't mean indoctrination in its commonly held negative sense. It is great to have a place to show a company's history and background.) The layout remained essentially the same, but I didn't realize the expansion of the children's attractions to the existing foot print. I swore there more mannequins and artifacts on display and an airport layout right behind the engine cutaway. Also missing in the front entrance was the display of C.R. Smith's medals and accolades. The rump of his exhibit was placed in a single display case by the DC-3. On the other hand, weighing myself in numbers of chickens was quite entertaining. The grounds were well maintained, although in need of a update. The theater is such a example. The retired beige seating dating back to the 1980's reminded me how roomy seating was back then. They also showed a what they referred to as "vintage" a 1990's film about the story of the airline. Both are sad reminders of how of how the American air travel experience has declined. For the main attraction, the DC-3 was majestic as always. Although is quite a small plane, its presence cannot be denied. Access to the aircraft is to the back. You can literally smell the leather and metal inside the aircraft. It is definitely one should immerse oneself in and feel the history. The museum is worth a visit, I just wish they found room to add back some the adult focused exhibits back in. They do have the room to do so.

I visited museum in August which this was my 3rd visit, my first was in late 90's which I enjoy visiting this museum plus took many pictures. Great aviation & American Airlines history. Great place for kids as adults alike who love planes as aviation. Was new things here since I was here last bug I'm sure I'll be back one day again plus visited the gift shop & too bought a few things. I recommend.

Getting to board the DC-3 aircraft was one of the best parts of this museum! Additionally, some of the written copy and photos on the walls were cool, including the Miracle on the Hudson wall. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the video that plays every 30 minutes. I was hoping for some AA history, but instead it was just stories from their employees. I think that should be updated. Lastly, they had a great gift shop with all the AA swag and apparel you could wish for.

Great details about flight operations and display of AA history. The museum is surprisingly small and has limited aircraft displays. Don't expect this place to provide a flight museum kind of experience, or you'll be disappointed.

Very impressive museum for American Airlines fans! You can see many memorabilia of American Airlines and you can learn the history of AA. Seats of movie theater are used domestic first class seat! One of this museum's highlights is "Flagship Knoxville" Douglas DC-3. You can enter the plane and can sit down the seat. Museum gift shop is also interesting. You will get many kinds of goods of American Airlines! It is difficult to get there for traveler. If you don't use rent-a-car, you need to use taxi, Uber and cost $15 from terminal.

My family and I had a most wonderful time at this museum! There is truly something for everyone here. Our first exhibit to explore was the old airliner, the Flagship Knoxville. It was neat to go inside, walk down the aisle, and see how small seating was long ago. While at the museum, we also enjoyed watching the short film featuring American airlines employees and their inspiring stories. Another feature my family was intrigued with was the various manikin flight attendants in glass showcases, displaying the different uniforms worn. Something really cool at the museum is a huge hanging globe showing all the present day AA flights taking place. Finally, we had to visit the lovely gift store upon our departure. We bought a ceramic mug and a drinking glass, both of which have the American Airlines emblem etched on them. An AA wings pin, a fancy pen, and a cute flight attendant toy were also among the items we bought there. We can't wait to visit the CR Smith Museum again!

Small museum showcasing the history of American airlines. Good to see how far they have come from multiple mergers. The new additions include a few toddler friendly fun play and learn activities. Good option to spend a few hours indoors during hot summers near the airport.

A more kid oriented air museum but still not a terrible option for adults. Given the amount of money that appears to be behind the museum, it was a little disappointing how little they had. The DC3 is cool to see especially since they have it open to go inside. Some of the engines were also impressive to get a sense of scale. But otherwise kind of a forgettable museum with multiple displays out of date (plan to retire the MD80 in 2019) unless you have kids.

Very nice little museum. It has flight simulators, the cockpit of a real airplane and a good amount of artifacts. Little kids loved the small playground/ slide and the luggage play area. Pro tip: If your GPS/Google maps direct you to drive through Aviation Dr/DFW Airport, don’t or you’ll charge for airport parking.

Title: A Split Experience at the CR Smith Museum: Great Museum, Disappointing for Corporate Events Rating: ★★★☆☆ As a Museum: The CR Smith Museum, primarily focused on aviation and showcasing the history of American Airlines, offers an engaging experience for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. The museum provides numerous displays that delve into the rich heritage of American Airlines, with a range of hands-on activities designed to educate children about aviation. One of the standout features is the accessible cockpit, allowing visitors to experience the sensation of flying an airplane firsthand. Additionally, the museum features impressive exhibits showcasing the intricacy and scale of large jet engines, which provide valuable insights into their complexity. A notable highlight is the full-sized DC-3, offering an up-close encounter with this iconic aircraft and the chance to appreciate its historical significance. Rating as a Museum: ★★★★☆ For Corporate Events: Unfortunately, the CR Smith Museum falls short when it comes to hosting corporate events. The limited space available for tables or gatherings makes it challenging to accommodate such occasions comfortably. It appears that corporate events are an afterthought at this venue. Furthermore, expect the museum to be closed during these events, resulting in restricted access to displays and exhibits. This can be disappointing for attendees who were looking forward to exploring the museum alongside their corporate function. Regrettably, the staff's lack of assistance and unavailability of essential facilities, such as the use of dumpsters, further dampened the overall experience. It is disheartening when event organizers are not provided with the necessary support and amenities required to ensure a successful event. Rating for Corporate Events: ★★☆☆☆ In summary, the CR Smith Museum offers an enjoyable and informative experience for those interested in aviation history. The displays and interactive activities cater to both children and adults, making it a worthwhile visit for aviation enthusiasts. However, as a venue for corporate events, the museum falls short due to limited space, closure of exhibits, and a lack of support from the staff. If you're primarily interested in visiting the museum, it is worth exploring, but for hosting an event, it may be wise to consider alternative venues. Note: Please be aware that this review is based on the specific experience of hosting a corporate event at the CR Smith Museum. Individual experiences may vary, and it is advisable to inquire about event arrangements before making any bookings.

Kinda smelly, made both of my kids extra interested in hand sanitizer. The 15-min movie was super old, pixelly, and the sound didn't work well. Totally underwhelmed.

We were invited to a Kids party, it was our first time here and we had a great time at this museum! The kids were entertained the 3 hours that we were there. They did not want to leave but it was time to close. We definitely recommend it and we will for sure come back.

The CR Smith Museum offers a thoroughly impressive and engaging experience for anyone interested in aviation. The museum is very well-done, brilliantly capturing the essence and evolution of American Airlines, along with the broader history of aviation. One of the charming aspects of the museum is its attention to detail. A notable example is the theater seating, which consists of old airplane first-class seats. This unique touch not only adds character to the museum but also enhances the immersive experience, making visitors feel like they're part of aviation history. The museum is also incredibly family-friendly, with a variety of exhibits specifically designed for children. The play zone and interactive activities are fantastic for keeping younger visitors entertained while they learn. It's an excellent way to introduce kids to the world of aviation in an engaging and fun manner. For aviation enthusiasts, the museum's highlight is undoubtedly the extensive history of American Airlines. The exhibits chronicle the airline's journey through the years, offering a fascinating glimpse into how the aviation industry has evolved over time. This educational aspect is both informative and captivating, appealing to visitors of all ages. Additionally, the museum offers hands-on activities that are a real treat. Visitors have the unique opportunity to sit in an actual MD-80 cockpit, providing a rare behind-the-scenes look at the pilot's world. The computerized flight simulator is another interactive highlight, offering a taste of what it's like to fly an aircraft. These hands-on experiences are not only enjoyable but also incredibly educational. In conclusion, the CR Smith Museum is a remarkable destination that combines education, history, and fun in a memorable way. Whether you're an aviation buff, a history enthusiast, or just looking for a family-friendly outing, this museum is a great choice. Its mix of interactive exhibits, historical insights, and engaging activities make it a standout attraction.

Worth a trip. Teenagers enjoyed. Lives in Dallas all my life: first time. Good place to take young kids and teens. History of AA, wish they could run an airline as good as a museum. .

My daughter attends camp here every summer and she absolutely loves it!! The only reason I don't give five stars is the parking situation. They put cones out between all the parking spaces for the parents to know where we are supposed to park when we pick up our kids, but really it only makes parking more difficult and weird. I always end up having to park farther away because I refuse to use the weird marked off cone spaces. Other than that, my experience with this place has been top notch!

I recently visited the CR Smith Museum and had an amazing time. The museum is a great place to learn about the history of American Airlines and the aviation industry as a whole. The exhibits are well-designed and informative, with plenty of interactive displays that keep visitors engaged. I especially enjoyed the flight simulators, which gave me a taste of what it's like to be a pilot. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they were happy to answer any questions that I had. The museum is also located at the American Airlines headquarters, which adds to the overall experience. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the CR Smith Museum for anyone who is interested in aviation or the history of American Airlines.

My son is obsessed with all things airplanes right now. We went out of town for the weekend and across the highway from our hotel is the American Airlines C R Smith Museum. It’s reasonably priced and has an interactive flight simulator computer model that anyone can use. Also it has a cockpit where kids and sit in the pilot seats and touch the controls. My son geeked out. It also has interactive activities for the kids. The airplane playground with slide was a big hit. There is a vintage airplane inside the museum that can be toured. Overall, it’s a really neat indoor place to visit when in the DFW area during the summer. The gift shop has a large variety of airplane souvenirs for all ages.

All the staff are really lovely and the museum is clearly run with pride and passion, but it’s really quite underwhelming. Even someone with a deep interest in commercial aviation will struggle to fill more than 20 minutes here, which makes the $12 admission cost pretty bad value.

Took our grandsons here as part of a day trip for their birthday. They loved it. There is nothing better than a place that is so cool to see, and you get to actually touch, use, play with, and learn about new things! It was free for us to get in because we are employees of the American Airlines family. I'm not sure exactly how much the tickets are. You would have to go on the website to see. Even if we had had to pay, we still would have gone. This was a place the boys really enjoyed.

The museum sits on a hill above the parking. There is accommodation for handicapped and wheelchair needs. The parking lot is small, but the museum has a median time of 30 minutes. The are interesting activities for the kids to enjoy and learn. A history of the evolution of the uniforms, tableware when they had it, even a small plane to through, and more. We had a good time; especially the kids.

Very fun well priced experience. Lots of information, history, simulators and neat visuals for adults and fun experiments and even a small airplane playground for kids. Not to mention the DC3 that you can enter. Even if you aren't a airplane fan, well worth the visit.

Great place for families. They have lots of activities for children, good history and information for adults. Great interactive exhibits. They have a cockpit you go in and a DC3 plan you can explore. Really cool. Definitely worth going.

Really impressed with our experience! Whether you are more into the mechanical/engineering aspect of airplanes, or the cultural/history of flight there is something for everyone! Well worth the cost of admission, would probably skip the 15 minute film in the theatre though. Spent about 90 minutes there in all but easily could have spent another 30-60 if we had taken our time a bit more.
