Simplistic design, meant to honor and memorialize JFK as a somewhat like "tomb without a body."... Informational signs that better explain the reason for the design and how it came to be. The memorial is located about 200 yards from where the assassination actually took place. See memorial before, or after, but make sure you seek out the actual area of incident to truly grasp the scenario.

Visited the Dallas West End Historic District to explore Dealy Plaza, but we reached there after hours. So we went to see the adjacent John Fitzgerald Kennedy Memorial Plaza, which is free of admission and open 24 hours. Architect Philip Johnson designed this open tomb memorial showcasing the freedom of President Kennedy’s spirit. The square, roofless room with floating 72 white concrete columns creates a unique and contemplative space. Standing 30 feet tall and 50 by 50 feet wide, it exudes a sense of serenity and remembrance. There are two narrow openings for people to explore inside. There is a granite marker in the middle stating "John Fitzgerald Kennedy" on which people put flowers paying respect to the president. If you are interested in the history of the JFK assassination, the plaza is a great op for that.

When in Dallas, I would recommend seeing this place/area. It's a lot to take in, but it's worth the time to stop and reflect. A president was killed in Dallas, JFK, and the location has been memorialized with markers and a garden. The location of the shooter's can be seen from the street. I would recommend going to see the floor and room where he was. We arrived late and didn't get a chance to see that.

I went at night to avoid people and it's very serene and clean. The structure and the museum next to it is nice. It's in downtown and so alot of tall buildings nearby. Across the street is a log house of where early settler of the county lived.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza is a cenotaph, or β€œopen tomb,” that symbolizes the freedom of President Kennedy’s spirit.

Free attraction. There was a man sleeping on the slab when I was initially there so I had to go back for my picture later. It was peaceful, everyone was quietly taking their photos.

The plaza is free to visit. If you drive, I’d recommend to park 1-3 blocks away, as the area can get busy. But there is some parking very close, but it is limited. From here, you can walk 2 blocks to where JFK was actually shot. Nice & easy walk. Enjoy!

I remember this day. I was 7. I knew something had happened, it was playing all day long on our black and white Phillips TV. Today was the first day that I was in Dallas where I had time to walk the community. History. That is why we have monuments. Good monuments, bad monuments, these represent who we are, who we were and what we endured and over came. I'm glad they built this, and had the plaques reminding us what happened.

It's worth the trip. If you want to do the book depository, buy tickets ahead of time. They are time slotted & number limited.

Great historical landmark! Fun to take photos of the XX X representing first, second shots and third shot! Stay for awhile, relive history as it happened here! Be careful when taking photos right next to the XX X markings as it is a busy traffic line. Although, it does seem like the flow of automotive traffic is timed and conspire for us to be able to be up close and capture a photographs. Just be careful! There are street parking or museum parking for $10. Trolley tour as well!

Glad I got to see this. Interesting story behind its creation so don’t judge until you read why.

Cool to see. But memorial itself is very unimpressive. Explains on the plaque what the designer had in mind when making it. If your in the area it's a must see but wouldn't go out of my way.

This is a calm and peaceful place. But this is not the actual JFK assassination site. The actual site is just a block away. Lot of historical places in and around this memorial which can also be visited.

Great piece of America's History to reflect on a sad time. Very easy to walk around, but is heavily trafficked by pedestrians and vehicles.

Great place to see historic moment in American history. Wish Elm street would be closed off with a better memorial.

This plaza serves as a beautiful, resting place and park area to enjoy amongst all of the buildings and restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the historical cabin. Try to go in the evening when all the fountain lights will light up with color.

We went to visit on the 24th of November but it was very busy as it was the 60th anniversary. We decided to go back last night and it was amazing even though it was raining. We had a chance to read all the plaques and take our time without the distraction of others around us. I would definitely recommend it to anyone planning on visiting the area. It was about a 20ish minute drive from Fort Worth.

It was nice. I wish the memorial would have been better. It's not what I expected for his memorial.

This is the JFK memorial. He was actually assassinated a block or two over. I would recommend visiting that area too. There is a museum dedicated to his memory as well that is not too far from this memorial called the sixth floor museum, I will leave it up to you whether you want to visit that or not. If this event interests you, it might be worth it to learn more about the assassination and the conspiracies that have sprung up around it.

Great Place to visit. But feels sad when you leave after understanding what this place has seen in the history..

The photographs in the exhibit were telling the incident as it happened. I could see the exact spot the bullet was fired from. The only thing that did not make sense to me was why a bar owner shot and killed the assassin. That has me thinking that there is more to the assassination .

Quick visit to the memorial. Interesting design. There's a slab with JFK's name imprinted on it, surrounded by 4 walls with no wordings. Very simplistic modern design. There is a description of the memorial on a sign. Very clean. Like a "tomb with a body".

Nice historic place to visit. It is curious how little we know about the history of contemporary politicians and the impact it has in identity. The memorial is an artistic interpretation of an ideological leader. Very nice place to meet.

Stunning just amazing how a brief moment in history can change the future for ever. This memorial along with the book suppository is one of those sites that you absolutely have to visit in order to get the feel and emotions that was experienced when President JFK was assonated. Raw, uncut emotions, a must see. .

So informational I suggest going on a Van tour to learn about the city. There are some people (shady but not harmful) that hang out there, trying to sell you newspapers about the day. One guy who wants to tell you all about it and then you're supposed to tip him. If you stick to the routes and just ignore them and don't talk to them you can take pictures of the x in the street and the white box in the window. It's pretty cool to see and sad at the same time.

Very touching and interesting. If you are a JFK fan then you should not miss this place. You have to find the parking. May be street parking.

What an ugly memorial to a man that was striving to push the masses to have a better future. That fought the globalist elites and paid the ultimate price! Was thoroughly disappointed. Not to mention the lack of landmarks at the actual site.

This memorial feels incomplete without a statue of JFK, but still a nice memorial. However, I do recommend going over to downtown Fort Worth, TX to see their JFK memorial as well.

It was a different monument than I expected before but it was great learning more about the history what happened there.
