My 87-year-old father has been staying here for two weeks now. Unfortunately, we’ve been facing an issue with the call button and TV remote repeatedly becoming unplugged, which leaves him unable to call for assistance or enjoy the TV. Despite our daily requests for a fix, the cord keeps getting loose, and it’s disheartening that no one seems to address this safety concern. Today, I encountered a rather impolite response from a nurse when I raised the issue, even though it directly affects my dad’s well-being. Given that my father cannot move without assistance, it’s challenging for him to lie there for hours without any help or entertainment. When the staff enters his room to set down a tray or perform other tasks, they often rush off without ensuring his tray is properly adjusted or that he can reach his food. This becomes particularly frustrating because he can’t use the call button to call them back for assistance due to its malfunction. After voicing my concerns to the director, the suggested solution was to put tin foil on it, but unfortunately, this temporary fix still doesn’t prevent the cord from coming loose.

Some of the nurses here are very good and some are extremely bad. Arlene, the nurse supervisor, is rude and abrupt and does not communicate well with families. Marsha, the caseworker, extremely rude and says things that she should not say to family members and loved ones that seem to be going downhill. My dad was in this facility twice. They didn’t seem to notice for several hours that he had pulled his catheter out of his chest so he could do dialysis. This facility needs to understand that communication with the family is extremely important! There were way too many times that I would call the nurses station only to have no one answer the phone. That is unacceptable! Attitudes really need to be checked in this facility!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’ve been three times and each time I’ve been taken care of as if I was family. There’s so many people who care for you and truly work their hardest to get you up and going. I would first like to shout out Theresa who goes above and beyond to help you get better. Encompass truly got blessed when they hired her and I would not be where I am without her. After losing the ability to walk she made it her mission to get me back up and running again She gave me the motivation and push I needed to believe in myself so that I could get better. I am incredibly blessed that I had her as my PT. The other PT’s such as Noe, Tj, Rosa, and Julie were always pushing me to be the best and they became one of my biggest support systems. The OT’s such as Lena, Russell (hope he’s feeling better after acl surgery) Ellen, Alison and Reesey are so supportive and amazing at what they do. I can now shower almost independently, dress myself, eat by myself all with their support and help. The Nurses and techs such as Alison, Esther, Adrian, Ms. Jo, Adrian, Lisa, Fred, Clement, Shaun, Shawna, Lacey, Heather, Leia, and so many more were always willing to help, always willing to come quickly when called for and always supportive and willing to listen to my progress when I needed someone to talk to. Rosie runs a tight ship so the facility was always clean and well taken care of. My room was cleaned daily and you always saw them around making sure the place stayed in shape. Jamal the maintenance man was always eager to help me when my power chair was messed up and would always be rushing to the next job with a smile on hiss so face. Mark, Tamara, and Deja were always running about as happy as can be to make sure patients where in the right places and helping them find their groups. I have so many more amazing things to say about this place that could fill pages. When you’re here you’re taken care of, you’re made to push yourself to get better with a bunch of support around you. I would not be as better as I am without Encompass Mid-cities. Thank you for treating me like family, for being a constant support system and employing some amazing and fabulous workers. I can’t express my gratitude enough.

Stayed for a bit over a month, 2017-2018. While the rehab was great for after my back to back spinal surgeries, I felt so out of place. There were maybe 3-4 of us who were minimal rehab patients. However, we were all placed together in groups of the majority of permanent to long term patients and the activities for us were non necessary. For instance, we knew the alphabet, numbers, etc. What we needed was physical rehab only, but got thrown into all three. The staff . . . oh, my. I have so many complaints, I can not write them all on this review. Main complaint about Staff . . . part timers and night timers did not care much for their job, yet alone for their patients. I was ordered to go to sleep at 8pm. I'm in my late 40s. Really? It was a battle for them to understand I would tell them when I was tired. Medication(s) dosages were a BIG complaint for everyone. Had to have my surgeon and pain Dr. argue with the whole staff to give me correct dosage. But, they prescribed what they thought was correct. Not what my Dr.s ordered. Billing . . . they billed both my Private Insurance AND my Medicare Part A. Then they tried to rebill me for visits with dates after my release date. No one every got back to me when I continued to leave messages. When I asked for all of my documents to be mailed to me . . . never received. Next time I am in town, I will have them release ALL to me. I believe ownership transpired shortly after I left. This could be why the staff was so horrible. I don't know. Maybe to sell, they needed to have more income(?). This was a great experience for the fact that I now know that I NEVER want to be back in any Facility EVER again. I received much better Home Health Rehab care for my continued at home rehab. Those nurses were GREAT! I can say I had two good day Nurses at this facility, but when I needed to complain, I had to go through management and it was a horrible task. For any family members of anyone who may be in this facility or any other rehab facility, I highly recommend you visit often and at different hours to make sure staff are doing their jobs correctly. Also, check with management and check your Insurance billings; amounts, dates, service, etc. Best to keep a log. As a patient, I kept a log of everyone's name and any issues I had. Manager wasn't pleasant towards me either, perhaps because I was having to constantly correct them all. I was blessed my family were close by and did check on me and did help me as much as possible. I did have a great Physical Day Therapist who did help me improve enough to go home.

This facility has a profit motive like no other. I was sent there after a month at Baylor Scott and White in Grapevine when my Medicare ran out. I was suffering from C-driff an intestinal bacterial infection that's deadly. They wanted me to do some elaborate work outs while I had run away diarrhea. I tried to explain to them I was going downhill fast. They did have a doctor on staff but he had little influence over the management. When my Medicare ran out I was afraid they were going to wheel me out on the curb and I could figure out where to go from there. I was in a hospital or care facility for eight and a half months. I'm sure with the proper care my recovery would have been much shorter. Encompass is oriented towards people that on-the-job injuries, auto accidents and that sort of thing not a deadly infectious disease. When they were releasing me their doctor said I wasn't ready yet of which I certainly agreed.

My wife has been there 5 times and sense it became Encompass Health it has gone down hill. Start with not enough help there is a few good nurses and aids house cleaning is terrible, most of the time when checking on my wife nurses do not walk in all they do is open door and say "just checking on you" and leave, food is not that great. Nurses do keep meds on time and therapist are good and for that I give it 3 stars

I can't say enough good things about Encompass Rehab in Bedford. My mom was there for just over 2 weeks. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. From the case managers to the therapists and nurses. They are really invested in helping people recover and get stronger. The food was also pretty good too!

I have a close friend who was transferred here after being hospitalized for 3 days due to low blood sugar. He was mentally fine upon discharge from the hospital, just weak. Within 24 hours he was disoriented, not himself. Next day= even worse. They took a urine sample which took more than 24 hours to get results! (This is a 3 minute test). He continues to decline and they want him to go to a nursing home WITHOUT further testing to explore why this SUDDEN CHANGE. So here it is 10 days and now he's in extreme pain, can't urinated, incoherent, confused, delusional. So they have to cath him to get urine AGAIN AND SAY IT'LL BE 24 HOURS for lab results. This is unacceptable for a UA. He's elderly and at risk for sepsis as a complication of untreated UTI and in pain but they can't get any results? Care Now does preliminary UA's in 5 minutes. Sorry but services here are inadequate.

I own a home care agency and recently had a client that was moved to Encompass for rehab. The staff, nursing and care team were wonderful. The Social Worker, Natalie, was so helpful and kind. We had to move our client to skilled nursing and she made it happen so quickly and it went smoothly. Thank you!

I visited a family member here for the first time. The facility is designed really nicely. The staff was friendly and happy. The patient rooms are cozy, and spacious, and there is a desk with shelves to work at if you need. Cheers!

Never the same nurse or aide two days in a row and no notes on patients needs. Constantly having to be there to see that patient even got to go to the bathroom. Negativity from therapists in beginning but got better.
