Really wonderful building. I loved the architecture! I went to the holocaust and Humanities museum! It's was so beautifully done commemorating this tragedy and Cincinnati's part in helping to save the families from it.

Such a beautiful museum inside & out! Absolutely loved our time here with the family! So much to see, learn, and experience. We really enjoyed all the exhibits and seeing all the uniqueness that this museum has to offer! We went on a busy weekend day, but it was still a wonderful experience and it didn’t feel crowded due to the sheer size of the place. We really enjoyed our time, and would recommend anyone in the area makes the time to go and experience it themselves!

Came here with my 22 mo old and my 3.5 year old. Was nervous that they would find any of it interesting and was pleasantly surprised. They LOVED it. The Children’s Museum is excellent. The Art Deco architecture is world class. It’s a really fun place and I’m glad we spent our afternoon here. We had a little over 2 hours and had to run through the last bit. I wish we’d of had more time because our boys were obsessed.

Great place to visit any time of the year. They have really made some serious progress with the revamping of exhibits. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer kid's museum anywhere.

My family always has the best time at the Cincinnati Museum Center! There is something for all ages! The children's area is beyond amazing and has become a requirement any time we are in Cincinnati! The Lego exhibit this year was fantastic! My kid and my husband both love Lego and it was great to see them share their passion for them as they went through the visit. The scavenger hunt that accompanied it was a great bonus for my ADHD kid who needed something to keep his mind busy while going through the exhibit to be less disruptive to others! We can't wait to come back and see what the next exhibit will be!

We have passes here and have been around a dozen times. Our kids have a blast in the kids area. Yhe children’s museum does seem meant for younger kids, maybe 10 and younger. Be aware that it can get PACKED. It’s busier more often than not, even on Mondays and Thursdays. The cave exhibit is really cool and fun for all ages as well as the space exhibit. We had a frustrating instance where an employee was following everyone around saying “don’t touch that, don’t walk there, you can’t be there.” When there are no “do not touch signs.” And the areas that can’t be touched are right next to areas that can, it’s very confusing. I emailed the museum and they just said they’d let somebody know. Be aware that it’s a long walk uphill from the parking lot. They do have strollers and electric scooters you can rent inside. There’s also a food court. Omnimax, holocaust exhibit, and temporary exhibits like the Lego exhibit are extra.

Beautiful art deco building which is in excellent condition. Feels like there’s a lot of history here (aside from the actual museums). We went to the Christmas train demonstration and it was very worth the money. Lots of different dioramas and even a model of Cincinnati which changes throughout the day. Tip: if you stand in the front corners you can whisper across the hall because of the acoustics.

We had a great time visiting! The building itself is a must see! We spent literally all day on our visit here. The museums are wonderful and had great exhibits. We really enjoyed the traveling Pixar exhibit. It was definitely worth the ticket to experience if you want to know how Pixar creates it's films.

My nephew and I have been here a handful of times and we absolutely love it! There a variety of museums and exhibitions to explore. He loves looking at the dinosaurs and exploring space. It’s definitely a great place to take children (and honestly, tire them out a bit). The omnitheater is also a fun and immersive experience that will surely impress the little ones. I also had a great time. It was a big space which gave people plenty of room to explore and there was minimal waiting if any.

We went here for the wedding reception of my wife’s cousin. What a place for it! We had a great time and especially enjoyed the museum being open during cocktail time. The kids got to run around and play on the mechanical exhibits and one of my daughters and I got lost in the Ice Age. There were some amazing and well-put-together visuals for adults and kids. As for the wedding reception itself, the place was beautiful, spacious, and very clean and modern. It was a wonderful place to celebrate a wedding.

We have come to the Cincinnati Museum Center SO many times are are never disappointed. Our latest visit was to the Pixar Animation exhibit, an exhibit displaying the steps and stages of bringing these beautiful animated films to life! Lots of hand-on activities! We also checked out the OMNIMAX and watched a short documentary about cave diving. VERY interesting! Masks are required, no matter vaccination status :)

I didn’t even realize until after we had come and left, what this place is. I didn’t know it wasn’t a working train station anymore, but a huge museum complex. We didn’t have much time so we just parked to check out the architecture and interior. Just that ALONE was worth it. It is so stunning. We will definitely come back for the museums, but definitely stop by for the beauty of it!

A Cincinnati delight. We spent the afternoon here. First to see the IMAX movie. The theater and film were fantastic. 3 adults and 3 children under 10 were amazed and thrilled with the film. You will not leave disappointed. After the show we went to see the model train exhibit, more eye candy. The folks who run this are amazing. Lots of talent here. We left the train exhibit to see the Lego display. Literally thousands of Lego figures, villages, buildings and themes from Star Wars to pirate ships. Be amazed with the talented folk that put this display together. You will be amazed. The grand kids could not get enough.

A natural history museum, children's museum, onimax theater, and holocaust remembrance all in one. I especially like the walk-through ice age exhibit and the dinosaurs where the accompanying description shows which bones are real and which are reproductions. The omnimax show of the rocky mountain train is very good.

What do you say about a local icon? To be there is like stepping back in time. My father grew up in Downtown Cincinnati in the Depression and remembered when Union Terminal was the heart of the city. A constant flow of trains, travelers, taxis, cars and tourists. He said the trains would come and go so fast, you’d get dizzy watching them. The building is well preserved and too much to tell about. And YES, you really can hear someone whisper from across the Rotunda in the corner by the front doors. Ask anyone that works there if you don’t know what I mean. An acoustic phenomenon too cool to miss! Come with a friend to hear it.

This place is amazing! I used my reciprocal membership at another science museum to get in, and my family and I explored the Cinci history museum, natural history museum, and the children’s museum. All of these museums were not only perfect for my 3 and 6 year old, but my husband, mom in law and I thoroughly enjoyed them, too. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars was the food- it was overpriced and underwhelming. I highly recommend eating elsewhere prior to coming here. Aside from that, I loved every bit of the experience.

This is a favorite place of mine and well worth the trip if in Cincy or if you’re really into trains or just buildings in general. It is the largest half dome in the Northern hemisphere and second largest in world. This place is simply amazing. Right now they have an exhibit about Cincinnati inventions that was really cool. I was hoping the Cave would have been open but it was not. I used to go into the old museum cave as a kid and it was really cool. I highly recommend taking the free tour of the rotunda.

Absolutely blown away by this place! The architecture itself is absolutely gorgeous. Just driving up to it you know you're going to be impressed. There is plenty of parking available ($6). You are greeted by a beautiful fountain at the entrance of the building, it's super relaxing and I suggest (weather permitting) to take a few moments to appreciate it. The main room is absolutely gorgeous, with tiled murals, high ceilings and a ton of windows letting in natural lights. I could go on and on about the building itself, let's just say it's stunning and a beautiful reminder of how gorgeous architecture was. The museum was FANTASTIC! The exhibits have been curated wonderfully, both entertaining for adults and children. I honestly have not been to a better visually pleasing museum. There are a lot of stairs, plenty of ramps and even elevators to get around. We were there for over 2 hours. I can't wait to go back!! Absolutely loved everything.

Cincinnati is so lucky to have this historical building in the city. Full of history, it has been well maintained over the years. The fountain out front also adds to its overall presentation from the moment you walk towards the entry. The exhibits and educational films that come and go, keep one coming back again and again.

Absolutely stunning museum. Best museum in the entire world. So much to see and do and everything was executed so incredibly well. The Cincinnati miniature cities was the most incredible museum exhibit I have ever seen. The detail. The size. The way it transitioned from daytime to nighttime. Whoever made this should make it for every city. Spent almost 4 hours here. Cannot say enough good things about this museum. Bravo!

Ok so I'm giving it 3 stars because the Lego thing is cool but definitely not worth the money it's to short and then they play areas you got kids in there parents not watching them, the kids literally taking over everything there was nothing to play with at all if you found something they came and snatched it from you nobody said anything to these kids at all and my daughter wanted to get on the and these kids kept yelling my bus this is our bus and said this is all of our stuff you can't have it don't touch it like you're supposed to share you're not supposed to take everything in the play area, I make my daughter share she's allowed to play with a few items at once not the whole areas! The museum part was cool but other than that I don't think we will be going back.

There is so much to see and do here I don't even know where to start! Personally the dinosaurs were my favorite, and the diagram showing which bones are real and which are cast is very cool! We made a game out of it and guessed which ones were which and then checked our answers! As a kid growing up always watching Pixar movies.. I HAD to go to the Pixar exhibit. Not only did it bring back amazing memories, it taught me so much about animation. Then we hit up the childrens museum (I know... We're 23 and 38... But animals are fascinating to everyone, aren't they?) The entire museum is amazing, even to some who isn't into museums will definitely find something that peaks their interest. Children especially!

Me and my 21 months old baby like this place! Museum guys are super friendly and helpful. We could visit all museums, I like The Museum of Natural History & Science where you can see a lot of skeletons and fossils of dinosaurs. My little one likes The cave exhibition, Ice age, and Omnimax theater about space exploration.

We originally visited the Museum Center for the Pixar exhibit, but stayed to check out the other museums located in the same building. They building has some great architecture features and style and I was glad we were able to check it out. The Graters Ice Cream Shop was a nice surprise as well as the cafeteria.

Went to the Cincinnati Childrens Museum a couple of weeks ago with my grandson. He absolutely loved the little house and grocery store. This is a perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon with your little one.

Incredible. My grandparents brought me here as a small child over 20 years ago so it's always been a special place to me. I was curious how I would feel about it coming back as an adult. I think I was even more in awe now than I was then. The terminal has been beautifully restored and the building is clean with well maintained exhibits. Bricktionary was a lot of fun and encourages folks of all ages to let their creativity shine. We spent so much time exploring the place with our All Museum tickets we ran out of time and had to hurry through so they could get closed up. This just gives us more to look forward to next time. Be sure to check out The Cave if you visit! And grab an ice cream in the Rookwood room!

I absolutely loved this Museum, the history of Cincinnati was fascinating and had many many neat exhibits and unique architecture. It took about 3 hours to go through everything but it was absolutely worth every second. I highly recommend swinging by here. The space exhibit and fossils were quite neat. I would love to return here again! This was Union Station before a hefty remodel but a lot of the buildings original design was kept in the remodel

I LOVE The Museum Center/Union Terminal. It currently is home to The Natural History Museum, The Cincinnati History Museum, Omnimax Theater (all accessible from the main floor) and the Children's Museum (lower level). Traveling exhibits fill the space across from the Children's Museum. The gift shop, on the main floor, is full of fun and educational things for children as well as adults. Graeter's has an ice cream shop just outside the door of the Natural History Museum. I recommend obtaining an annual membership which allows free admission to any of the museums, free parking and 10% discount on purchases. It also has reciprocity at participating museums across the US. The Natural History Museum has always been my favorite "museum". Since the renovation several years ago the Dinosaur Hall has become my new favorite "section". Life-size dinosaur skeletons fill the entire area, giving the visitor a true feeling of how small we are in comparison. There are real bones in those displays, too. I'm awestruck standing so close to real dinosaur bones. There is SO MUCH more beyond those bones: The Cave, The Ice Age exhibit, Neil Armstrong Space Exploration Gallery, etc. The Cincinnati History Museum sounds boring; history classes were boring, right? But it is far from it. Just inside the door is a huge replica of Cincinnati, complete with moving trains and inclines, flashing lights and a circling airplane. The children visiting at the same time that we were there, ran from display to display squealing happily about the things they were finding. Farther down the steps is a full size trolley car and a replica of a riverboat. You can enter both. My kids and I have so many wonderful memories of experiences at the museums. We had a family membership which allowed us to have cheap family outings every couple of weeks. They learned a lot on those visits and it just cost us an annual fee. Well worth the investment. Aside from the museums, the architecture of the building is spectacular. A must see and experience for anyone who appreciates architectural beauty. The history of Union Terminal is like icing on the cake. I'll leave that as is, for you to discover on your own. Enjoy the adventure!

Wow! A beautiful architectural wonder that has been beautifully preserved while making it a destination for today. Museums are well done and the IMAX theater is breathtaking. A must-see when visiting Cincinnati.

  • 5/5 Holly E. 9 months ago on Google
My 11 year old son and I loved it!! Admission pays for two parts of the museum but the theater and brickology were an extra charge. There was ample parking that was charged when admission is paid. I highly recommend going.

Title: Unveiling Cincinnati's Vibrant Past at the Cincinnati History Museum Rating: ★★★★☆ Located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, the Cincinnati History Museum is a captivating destination that takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the city's rich history. As a lover of history, I recently had the pleasure of exploring this museum and was thoroughly impressed by its comprehensive exhibits and engaging storytelling. Upon entering the museum, I was immediately struck by its grandeur and attention to detail. Housed in the beautifully restored Union Terminal, a historic Art Deco building, the museum itself is a testament to Cincinnati's architectural heritage. The stunning interior sets the stage for the immersive exhibits that await inside. The Cincinnati History Museum offers a diverse range of exhibits that cover various aspects of the city's past, ensuring there is something for everyone. From the early Native American settlements to the flourishing river trade era and the industrial boom, each period is meticulously explored through informative displays, artifacts, and interactive elements. One of the highlights of my visit was the recreated streetscape that depicted Cincinnati's bustling downtown in the 19th century. Walking through this immersive exhibit, I felt transported back in time as I explored the shops, businesses, and homes of the era. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the ambiance created by the sights and sounds truly brought the past to life. From historic photographs and documents to personal belongings and everyday items, each artifact provides a tangible connection to the people who lived and shaped Cincinnati throughout history. The museum's careful curation and informative labels make it easy to appreciate the significance and context of each piece. In addition to the permanent exhibits, the Cincinnati History Museum offers special exhibitions that delve deeper into specific topics or eras. These rotating exhibits ensure that there is always something new and exciting to discover, making repeat visits a worthwhile endeavor. During my visit, I had the opportunity to explore an exhibit on Cincinnati's role in the Underground Railroad, shedding light on an important aspect of the city's history. The museum's dedication to education and community engagement is evident through its range of programs and events. From guided tours and lectures to hands-on activities and workshops, there are ample opportunities for visitors of all ages to learn and engage with Cincinnati's past. The museum also collaborates with local schools and organizations, furthering its mission to promote an understanding and appreciation of the city's history. Overall, a visit to the Cincinnati History Museum is a captivating and enriching experience that offers a deep dive into the vibrant history of this remarkable city. The map is incredibly deceptive of how much there is to do. When I looked at the map, I didn’t think it was worth it. Boy was I wrong. We spent 6 hours here. The exhibits are amazing. The cave exhibit takes you down into a “cave” (we wound up going through twice) and the ice age exhibit recreates the period. It’s so interactive and engaging. My child loved the NASA section and the motion section. She was a little too old for the Children’s Museum (think 8 and under). The detail is incredible. Loved the steamboat and 3D printed replica of Cincinnati. Worth every penny- honestly, now that I know what it is, I would pay way more to visit.

Really cool place. Has something for everyone. Plan to spend an entire day because there is some really fascinating exhibits. Started with the trains, then space, then let the kids run and play in the kids area, then dinosaurs and science. We still didn't cover it all. All the staff were great, cheerful, happy and helpful. Kids and I can't wait to return.

Went with family. Kids loved the childrens museum area. It has some museum exhibits mixed in with the playground/science type attractions. The natural history area was nicely done and interesting. Medium in size, taking about 2-3 hours to go through. The history section to the south is more focussed on the local city itself and space is about taken up by a gigantic scale model with lights, trains, etc. Fun but short. Overall it was a good full day for a very reasonable cost

This was a great experience for our whole family. We checked out 2 of the museums and had an excellent time! I would highly recommend spending an entire day here checking out the various exhibits. My only regret was not getting here early enough.

The science side has so much to see and do. We really enjoyed exploring the "cave" and walking through the ice age. Barely got to peek and the space section. Kid zone looked like it would be fun for the little ones.

Went to the Cincinnati History Museum. They had a special exhibit called The Science Behind Pixar. This does cost extra from the musuem. This was very informative knowing how Pixar starts step by step from beginning to end to make a film. My oldest child love this because she is going to college for this Pixar exhibit is well worth the money. I will do another review on the museum at a later date.

We really enjoyed the museum and went specifically to see the special Pixar exhibit. Very hands on and a lot of fun. Our only complaint is that they supposedly required mask but a lot of families were not wear them and they were not enforcing something that they said was a requirement. Otherwise I would have given this 4 stars.

  • 4/5 Christopher M. 2 years ago on Google
The Pixar exhibit was worth the trip. The rest of the museum (natural history and history of Cincinnati) was fine but doesn't warrant a 2nd visit. We stayed about 3 hours as this was our first time. If a new exhibit catches my eye I could see myself going again for the rotating exhibit. Plenty of parking. Picking which tickets to buy for which exhibits can be confusing so we just bought tickets there.

One of the best museums I've been too. Didn't spend the extra money to see the Pixar tour. Was around $15 for general entry.

It's one of the best museum experiences in the area. The Cincinnati Museum Center offers separate museum experiences centered on American and natural history along with a children's museum, Omnimax theater and several unique and travelling museum exhibits. At the time of this writing (Dec. 2021) the temporary exhibits include Behind the Scenes of Pixar, Holiday Junction (Christmas trains), a Neil Armstrong exhibit, and Lego exhibit. Our family group consisted of seven people with three young children. We spent a six-hour day and only explorered half of the offerings. The children love the children's museum tree house, water table, ball room, and other exhibits. We ordered lunch from the on-site services which included burgers, hot dogs, and fries. The food is a little pricey but enjoyable. We love this museum and purchase a yearly membership for the family.

Such a great and interesting place! The Cincinnati History Museum is so well explained and you can tell it was curated with so much love for the city. As a foreigner it was super interesting to understand the greatness of Cincinnati and the context for it to become what it is today, from the architecture to transportation and social/city distribution. The Natural History Museum is also very well explained!
