After seeing the natural wonder that is Iguazu Falls, we went on a tour of a man-made wonder in Itapui Binacional dam. It is not surprising that same energy power (Paraná River) that produces the falls, is being harnessed for hydro energy. Amazing engineering, but what has the impact been to the environment?

Our visit to Itaipu Dam was phenomenal. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown around the dam. The tour guides were kind enough to talk in English although only myself and my wife didn't speak Portuguese. The tour was wonderful and informative. The busses were clean. The terminals were clean. An awesome tour. This is a must visit during your visit in Foz do Igazu.

This is a massive dam with breathtaking views of the surrounding lake. The bus tour is absolutely worth every real as it brings you across the entire dam and treats you to views you won't have ever imagined possible. The hum of the generator turbines and the water spilling out of the generator outlet is truly a sight to behold. This is comparable to the waterfalls in quality but at a fraction of the price.

In November 2017 we had the privilege of visiting the Itaipu Dam; what an experience! The technical tour (make sure you have photo ID and are wearing closed shoes and long pants) was amazing; being inside the massive structure made one feel really small. Our guide was very friendly, informative and so willing and capable of answering questions. Right after this tour we boarded a different bus for the panoramic part of the tour; what a huge structure indeed! It’s great to see the amount of trees and plants in the landscaping project. Also wonderful to know that two countries built and are jointly operating the dam. Although we must acknowledge the environmental impact of a giant project like this it’s reassuring to know that so much energy is produced thereby. This is certainly a must-see!!

Awesome experience getting to tour the heart of the world's largest hydroelectric plant by energy produced! I got to visit on the day they broke the 100 million MWh in a year mark, crazy cool! You actually get to go into the dam portion, down to the turbine hall, and then even further down to the see the actual turbine shaft in motion!

Astonishing hydroelectric power station administrated by Brazil and Paraguay. The energy is obtained from Parana River, that crosses both countries. Excellent opportunity for learning how this immense complex works, its history and very technical details. Great experience for savvy audiences and beginners on the topic.

Very well organized attraction, from the reception, bus tours until the end. One of the few Brazilian tourist places with an international level of quality in my opinion.

👍👍 I took the panoramic tour, which lasted an average of 1h30min. It was worth it, safe environment, very organized and clean. Tickets cost 58.00 for an adult and 29.00 for a student, they were purchased on the website the day before the visit but can be purchased at the local ticket office, where park...
