Best hostel I have stayed at in all of Europe! Very homely, personal vibe. Beautiful ambience. Friendliest staff (thank you Nicolai and Barbara!). Spotless bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen, w unlimited free tea, coffee, cereal. Free lockers and luggage storage. You can use the computer in the lounge. Rooms have fans. Location couldn't be better - short walk to the castle on one side and the main plaza in Altstadt on the other. It's a relatively small hostel so book in advance.

Cosiest hostel near the bottom of the castle steps. Easy to walk through the town from here. Spacious girls dorm on the bottom floor. Has lockers. Nice atmosphere hanging with others in the lounge, and the guy with glasses hung out with us and helped a lot if you had questions. Felt like home!

Excellent location, staff, rooms common areas. Located in Old City so near everything. Including the Castle and Old Bridge.

Do you know that feeling that from first moment you feel like at home? Well, it is exactly how I feel here ❤️🏡! Rare gem really... Charming living room , kitchen not too large but with all you need + free coffee and tea, vibe, location, people...what else someone can wish? Thanks to all kind people here. PS: I have not forgot ticket for concert 😀 I had to go before I planned BUT ... see you again very soon Carmen and others. Next time much longer as must germanise myself better 😀:) And I don't play with false promises. Never. Greetings from Darko (and yes.. `Dar` means gift 😃) .Congrats for 'charm song' 🎶 lady!

Literal stone throw’s away from the castle in Altstadt. Free cereal, cozy, and cool travelers. Independently owned, and made some really cool memories during my short stay! An authentic hostel experience instead of being overrun by loud crowds like some other places. If I come back, def will visit again!

This is what I always thought hostels would be like before I started traveling and realizing that most hostels are corporate and inauthentic. LOTTE Heidelberg, however, is a rare gem. In the shadow of a castle and hosted by the owner herself, caring for guests with a motherly kindness. You will be charmed and delighted to make this place your home while you visit Heidelberg.

A great choice in Heidelberg. Great location and friendly reception. It even provides free coffee, milk, and cereal.

Lovely staff, really central, good facilities. Only issue was the toilets being in the same room as the showers (all with doors of course), so no real privacy, which can get awkward.

I heard that it is the best hostel in Germany and after staying there I believe it wholeheartedly. The staff are amazing and friendly, the atmosphere is diverse in terms of nationality and age. There are very helpful stickers everywhere helping everyone understand the general rules and living and it has such a safe and home like feeling. For location it is perfectly placed by kornplatz. Such an amazing thing to walk out of the hostel and be greeted by the castle. Would recommend to everyone!

Highly recommended. This summer (2023) I have stayed there for two days and honestly I have enjoyed staying. It feels like I am staying at home. The people are very nice and sweet.

Amazing hostel! Probably the best we stayed in on this trip. The ladies were lovely, the lockers were definitely big enough for us and it was right next to the castle. No issues with this place at all! Loved Heidelberg.

Lotte hostel was a warm, welcoming place to stay as a solo female traveler in Heidelberg. The hostel was clean, well-located (right below the castle), and most of all the staff went above and beyond. Not only did they provide great recommendations for exploring the city, but when I accidentally left behind cash, Carmen and Natalie made sure that I got it back. If you’re stopping in Heidelberg definitely check out this hostel!

Fantastic and very “homely” hostel. Loved the communal area! In a great location and Carmen was very nice and gave me some fantastic recommendations for my stay. Would definitely book again if I’m ever in the area.

What can I say that hasn't been said before? From the very first mail I received from Carmen, I knew I had found THE place to stay in Heidelberg. Her positive vibes, her humour, the advice she gave me much before I arrived in Hdbg made me fall in love with Lotte right away. And the great week I spent there proved me I was right to follow my feelings.

Nice experience in ancient house, stuck ceiling renovated, kitchen perfect, muesli w H-milk and Hafer milk free, bathrooms spick n Spack, but the vibes in the hostel are those everything is under control, pls don’t do the wrong step and w 29 & expensive for a bed in a dorm .,,,

This super cute hostel is far and away in a class of its own here in Germany...one of the best EVER in my 20+ years hostelling! For example, coffee machine with freshly ground fairtrade organic beans and milk (even oat milk) just sitting there for free use 24-7? Unseen and unheard of! And where you can meet other travellers from all over the globe? And I really love when they say "Home away from home" and it really wasn't false advertising! I had a wonderful 1 week stay. It really makes a difference when it is an owner run hostel who cares so much about her business. Thanks so much for the helpful, friendly, clean and cosy hospitality Carmen, Barbara and Team!😊👍

I've done a lot of touring, and this is easily one of the best hostels I've *ever* stayed in! The rooms are charming, the location is perfect, the staff are outstanding - I'm not kidding, one of my electric razors blew a fuse and wouldn't work anymore, and the manager offered me a brand new one that she had that was extra and donated to her by a friend. AMAZING - YOU GOTTA GO HERE!

The hotel is very lovely. The team of the hotel is warm and friendly. The location is great. Just in the old town, with the station right at the door. You can chat with people from all over the world. I will definitely choose here next time:)

This is a very good hostel. The location is perfect. Facilities and rooms are clean. Interior is comfy and nice. The only downside were certain guests who don't respect the rules. But that's not the Hostels Fault.

Wonderful hostel. Carmen (reception/more) was very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. There’s cereal + milk available at all times.

I had a really nice short stay here in February. It was clean and neat without being clinical like some chain hostels. Most importantly Carmen was really friendly and accommodating- thank you!

Carmen truly has a home away from home. The location in Alstadt could not be better: steps from the funicular, the Dom, restaurants, and cafes. The hostel is very clean with nice appointments and a great living area and kitchen. I sprained my ankle on the way to Heidelberg and Carmen went out of her way to help me with everything. Lovely hostel, lovely location, lovely hostess

This has been my favourite hostel experience in Europe. Perfect size for a hostel, very friendly staff, nice common area and kitchen. Sparkling clean bathrooms. And location cannot be beat.

What a wonderful gem of a hostel! Carmen is very welcoming and helpful, with great recommendations. It is clean and has everything you need. This is my favourite hostel I’ve ever been to and will definitely return next time I’m in Heidelberg. Thank you very much.

No need to say about location (right in front of train/bus station, old town, and the Heidelberg Palace). Very clean, hygienic, and well-maintained, and well-interiered place. You can live the atmosphere of Heidelberg old town. Hosts were so nice and warm-hearted people that I could feel safe and comfortable myself here. I didn't expect this much good although I saw the high rating during booking. But I realized it's real :D Maybe this place is the best hostel I've ever stayed. I'm leaving Heidelberg with great memories thanks to this place.

Lotte Hostel has been a treasure to me, I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived. Everything is clean and organized, plus the team will make sure you have everything you need and will give you the best advice to visit the city. And I met the best people there! Thank you so much! I will definitely recommend the hostel :)
