A marvellous piece of architecture dating 18th century. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, it is absolutely wonderful to stand on this bridge. You can see the lush green mountains all around and the beautiful old town. The arches through which the river flows down are a treat to watch. Right next to the city center, this bridge is mostly filled with the people.

The old bridge spans the river Neckar in a beautiful picturesque part of Germany. Clear blue water surrounded by lush greens in this beautiful valley. Head up the footpaths on the North side of the river bank for a stunning panoramic view over the town. Amazing!

Great spot to meet friends and share a drink while watching the sunset. Can be crowded in the afternoon though. Three times a year the "Schlossbeleuchtung" is featuring a firework on the old bridge to remember the burning of the city when Louis 14 of France conquered the city.

The Bridge doesn't have any ticket. It will be crowded. Walk over the other side where you can see the bridge as well as castle. That's the best view.

So, not entirely about the bridge itself, but a small tip if you are visiting Heidelberg. This is an awesome place! For starters the beautiful view and park next to the river, we went for a walk through the "Philosophers weg" (perfect to get better view of the center, castle, bridge etc.) then we descended through the "schlange weg" and headed to the Old Bridge of Heidelberg into the town ( that if you didn't know has the longest street of stores in Germany!) Now I get when people say that they have lost their Heart in Heidelberg. I loved it!

Very pretty bridge over Neckar River built in late 1700s. It presents a lovely landscape of Heidelberg by two sides.

You can't go back from Heidelberg without visiting the Old Bridge. Nicely maintained with extra beautiful view from the bridge. I spent 2 hours at this place calmly and peacefully.

A landmark of Heidelberg. Such a beautiful structure. Few steps from the town square. Come early in the morning to have the bridge your own.

Is older than you thank you think. Very Well preserved so look modern. Info Tables with details about bridge are only in German language. But you can use wikipedia or buy a tourist guide -book about Heidelberg in tourist information center near main railway station. Bridge is without obvious tourist traps. I didn’t met any pickpocketers, scammers or beggars. Sometimes is there guitar musicians etc. During evening Saturday 9.3.2024 isn’t crowded! Just about 30 persons around.

Visited the place on the new year's eve. The fireworks were amazing. One of the best places to celebrate new years. Lots of pubs and clubs are open nearby to spend the night after the new year.

Wunderschöne historische Brücke mit toller Aussicht auf den Neckar. Am schönsten Abends wenn sie beleuchtet ist. Binder Brücke hat man auch eine tolle Sicht auf das Schloss von Heidelberg.

Its ancient cobblestones, charming arches, and stunning views of the city and Neckar River create a truly enchanting experience. A landmark that must be visited. There is a lot of history in the place and an atmosphere of days gone by... a great place to wander and soak up the magical atmosphere of this small town. For those who are just looking to take pictures, this is also a must.

The whole area is full of amorous feelings of European towns - Beautiful river, green mountains, heritage buildings and peaceful atmosphere. You can enjoy the stunning and amazing scenery. Almost all the visitors are busy with taking photos. Besides, the bridge is also closed to old town with much convenience. Highly recommended!

A place of immense beauty. The long and wide streets that need to be visited, the houses and buildings made of historical architecture, together with the artifacts from Heidelberg's past, are the people who come to visit many places in the world; making it into history. You feel yourself in Ortacag. Romantic, beautiful and fascinating. Heidelberg is worth seeing in general. Wonderful...

Amazing famous bridge with beyond beautiful sights 😍. Pictures & videos don't do it justice. Everywhere you look here is a scenic view 📸. Was a worthy & breathtaking experience, also a great place for a date. Also, the famous Heidelberg castle is not too far away walking distance from the old bridge. Highly recommend checking them both out! 💯

After the castle, this is the second thing on the list of what to see in Heidelberg! The bridge is just for pedestrians and is close to the main square. The bridge is also known as Karl Theodor Bridge. It was built in 1788 from Neckar sandstone. It is 7 meters high and 200 meters long. Unfortunately, there was no information board that would inform you about these interesting facts. There are beautiful views from the bridge at the castle, river Neckar and old city, but the bridge itself also looks nice and it is nice to look at it from either banks of the river.

Just an amazing view of Heidelberg castle and city from the bridge. You reach this place from Heidelberg central railway station by taking a bus number 33. You have to ride till Rathaus/Bergbahn in the bus.

A total must see! The views from the bridge are incredible. I was fascinated with the walk up to the bridge and even more so when I arrived on the bridge. Every angle is picture perfect! You will not be disappointed.

It's a lovely place. If you are in heidelberg, you can't miss it. The water in the Neckar river is a bit polluted yet the feel comes from the liveliness of the city itself

Beautiful bridge, partly under construction, nice old architecture with the castle in the background. On the side of the river are places to sit and relax.

An ancient bridge with a long historical atmosphere is also one of the landmarks frequently visited by many tourists who visit the ancient city of Heidelberg. Although it was a bit pity to see the construction notice in the middle of the bridge deck that day (2022/10/31), the beauty of the amazing scene seen from both ends of the bridge still remains the same!

Alt Brucke.... A dream come true. Crossing over the muddy Neckar river at one end of the AltStadt of Heidelberg, this is one of the most clicked locations of Heidelberg. A large gateway as we enter into the bridge. Only pedestrians allowed here. At the other end we could just cross over and climb up the opposite side of the hills to Philosophenweg

Nice place close to the bridge. Alex at reception was very helpful. Early morning or late night strolls in the bridge and the town are easy. Rooms were spacious. Beds very comfortable and bathroom nice and clean. All over a nice place to stay.

It was my 2nd time to visit Heidelberg. There was no change within 6yrs except old bridge work is ongoing. This city always has vibrant colors.

The bridge has a total length of 200 metres and a width of about 7 metres. It is very popular for pictures at the railing of the bridge or with the old bridge gate in the background

We visited this place on a really hot summer day so I was quite fuzzy and confused while being there, but you can't mistake that view, can you? The sky had a lovely color and we were able to enjoy our short trip to that bridge. Maybe we should come back on a milder day to enjoy it a bit more LOL

  • 5/5 Aggie W. 1 year ago on Google
The bridge is not long nor wide. It’s an easy stroll on the bridge crossing the Necker River. The historical bridge and its surroundings are so beautiful, day or night, especially the evening view. From the other side of the bridge, the red stone bridge and the castle form a stunning picture.

Heidelberg is an amazing city, one can see the old European architecture which is so beautiful. The Old bridge over Rhine river has amazing view and vibe, on the one side u can see the mountains and on the other side u can see Heidelberg castle and the city all red. I have been there two times already but still want to visit Heidelberg again and again.
