Incredibly racist staff who clearly hate foreigners and especially people of color - the woman at the entrance was overjoyed after trying to find excuse after excuse to not let us in when her last attempt at blocking us (“cash only”) worked! She smiled so big, I was in shock. What a shame to experience racism as an American in GERMANY of all places!

I didn't expect this museum to be this large and worthwhile, the Lonely Planet doesn't fully reveal its richness. You should plan at least half a day here. To improve an already excellent experience, I recommend adding English translations.

The museum is nice, but is unaccessible for non-German speakers. The staff is also very unfriendly. They know how to speak English but for some reason prefer to repeat things in German. Furthermore I got yelled at through a speaker for removing my mask 2 seconds to scratch my nose, while the staff is circulating in the museum without mask... I do not recommend.

A museum mixing roman times, art and the setting of an 18 century aristocratic home. Worth a visit if you want to see a museum in Heidelberg but all on all nothing extraordinary

Great museum with a history of the region. Lots of rooms with exhibits dating from prehistoric times through the 20th Century. Recommend the audio tour for the full experience.

The woman in the desk, applied the weekday schedule when buying tickets, even though it was a holiday, and she was a sullen and rude person. Even though I said 'have a good day' while leaving, she didn't deliberately answer.

A must visit for all art afficionados. A small museum, but there are a few items that surprised me. A painting by Jan Brueghel which I didn't know was there. A superb woodcarving of Jesus and his disciples. A landscape with a hunt by Gillis van Coninxloo III that I've never seen before. There are audio guides in English and German. Be sure to get one. They present interesting information about the history of the region in relation to the works of art on display.

Good to visit and know more about Heidelberg history. Not very big museum, 2 hour is enough to see everything.

Interessant aufbereitet.

It's à large museum of paintings, from dutch ,german, french painters and also an exibition about the lithographies from ,la belle époque,in France like Toulouse- Lautrec, the problemes are :the museum like in France must say in à small writing at the entrance or an other manner,if the masterpieces are not stolen to the jewish during the war and bought legally

Fantastic museum of art and history, beautiful works and lots of stuff to see. Time period all the way from prehistoric to Celtic, Roman, Medieval, Romantic, and more. Only problem is most of the explanations are only in German and they don't let you use your phone to translate because they don't allow pictures... Or at least the one caretaker we ran into said so.

Was mich ärgerte fotografieren nicht erlaubt.

It’s a lovely museum which is good for museum lovers, it contains crafts and furnitures, paintings, archeological excavations, and special occasions, so basically different kinds of culture and art The entrance fee is 3 € in weekdays and 1.80 in weekend. I would definitely recommend it for people who like museums 🌱

Allow plenty of time - there’s a lot more to see than you might expect when you arrive. Don’t miss the Palatinate displays and the period costume section. Could do with more labelling in English (or I would have given it 5 stars)

Great place to know the local history. Wonderful art and old artifact. The cost of the ticket almost symbolic And the most amazing thing is that it was almost empty A shame that all the tourists are outside walking and shopping not visiting this museum

Excellent, huge museum, dedicated to good art, collcted by local gentry, and to archeology from Heidelberg and surroundings. With a huge emphasis on the Roman presence in the early centuries of our time....

You don't imagine the many interesting objects you will see.... and you are well advised to take your time.... this museum is worthwhile

This is a must see museum! Their collection of modern and ancient art, was overwhelmingly beautiful. Make sure you take about about 2-3 hours to properly enjoy the masterpieces.

Excellent museum. Spacious and well lit. Well informed staff who are very helpful. We were formate to get free entry to the Frauenkörper display as it was their opening day.

Interesting museum that presents different exhibitions throughout the year.

There is a lot to see here and a substantial amount of quality on display. The main down side is the total lack of routing, no logic...having to backtrack al the time and hope you are not missing a corridor or room. Yes, it is an old school museum, not using modern means of telling the stories, but that didn't bother me, as the amount of things BV to look at was exhausting. Definitely the type of museum to do section by section and not in one visit, unless if you are a tourist, like me.

A very nice museum and the scenery is pretty. Youth under 16 years old are free to visit it.

Bigger than you initially think with some interesting exhibits.

Nothing special and very small. Depressive paintings. The archeological part is not rich.
